Don’t Fall In Love With Me Mr. Ceo - Chapter 66
Stephanie led Mia to another high-end store but this time Mia did not hesitate. She was with Stephanie, she thought there was nothing to fear. She had always wondered why she was so apprehensive to enter high-end stores before.
She would watch from afar as she appreciates the different items inside. In her mind, she believed that such items do not fit her. She thought that not everyone would be welcomed because of her appearance or status. But she was thinking too much, as long as one was a costumer, you are welcome to enter a store. That is their purpose.
Stephanie has given Mia the confidence to tackle this hurdle, the wall she made that rich people are different from the poor, that beautiful people cannot be in the same place with someone plain like her.
There were a lot of times that Mia wanted to enter such shops but would only walk away in the end. She made a wall for herself that divided her from other people. She liked to call it her personal space or her safe place. No one would judge her if she would not enter another person’s space, but maybe her way of thinking was wrong, she thought to herself.
Instead, it created a barrier which distanced herself from other people. It was the same with the people around her. She thought she should not get in touch with people because of their looks, status or cliques. “They have a different interest compared to me so they would not accept someone different,” is what she thought.
This was what happened in her college years. She did not have any close friends because she avoided other people’s advances. At first, they tried to include her with the freshmen gatherings but she declined.
Mia’s thoughts were simple, she did not enjoy drinking and partying, therefore, she excluded herself. However, this caused her classmates to distance themselves. They knew she would decline their offer so they stopped asking.
Mia was lost in her thoughts as Stephanie decided to assist her with the shoes she found to her liking. Mia did not notice the wide array of shoes that Stephanie had picked from the display.
One.
Five..
Ten…
Twenty…
…
Finally, Mia woke up from her daze and looked at the beautiful woman commanding the staff in the shoe store as if it was only natural.
“Ah, is this how a queen looked like in the past. She would surely fit the picture.” Mia thought as she observed Stephanie for a bit. But when her sight landed on the pile of shoes beside Stephanie, she was startled awake.
“Stop, stop, stop. That’s enough, I’ve tried plenty enough so let’s pick one and go.” Mia said with a wry smile and an apologetic look to the staff.
On the other hand, Stephanie seemed to be having fun while the staff didn’t seem to mind.
Stephanie became disappointed when Mia stopped her from picking some more of the designs. She already asked the staff to bring them out but she stopped herself and did what Mia requested. “Do you have something that you like from the ones you’ve tried?” Stephanie asked.
Mia looked at the pile of shoes on the floor and pointed at the light blue, simple doll shoes. “That’s the one. I’ll pay for it so we can go.” She went to the counter to pay for the shoe while looking for her wallet.
The staff in the shop was flabbergasted when they heard Mia was only buying one pair. They were all going gung-ho, they were familiar with Ms. White as a regular customer who frequently buys a lot of shoes when she visits. When they saw Ms. White all they could think of was, “finally, they could treat themselves after tonight’s sales.”
They all had the same thoughts, they felt downcast as if cold water was poured on their faces as reality struck them. The other girl was the customer, not Ms. White. Their faces cramped but they still had to act professional as they tried their best to maintain their smiles.
Although she did not buy a lot, she was with Ms. White, they cannot show any disrespect to a friend of a regular customer. They all looked at one another and nodded together in understanding.
The cashier gratefully accepted Mia’s payment and thanked her for her purchase.
Mia faced Stephanie with a smile and said, “Let’s go.”
Stephanie approached the counter with a skip and a smile. She bounced happily at the cashier and hastily pulled out the card. “Pack the other things I picked and we’ll back to get them later.”
The cashier was fast with her action, with a “swoosh” and a “beep” the transaction was completed. She was so used to it that her actions were precise and proficient as the deal was done.
The other staff members were all happily celebrating and almost burst out to cheers. Behind Stephanie’s and Mia’s back, you can some even raising their hands in success.
The others adorned happy smiles while some were already thinking about what they would do with their bonus. Everyone was happy aside from one person in the shop.
Mia was pouting as she looked at Stephanie and said, “You promised I’d only get one shoe.”
Stephanie on the other hand self-righteously explained, “I kept my promise. You purchased one.”
Stephanie pointed at the bag Mia was carrying. “While I purchased the others.” She looked at the people behind her while the people hurriedly composed themselves back into the professional staffs.
“Well let’s go to the next one.” Stephanie once again dragged Mia out.
Mia had just one thought, “I give up.”
The staff shouted in unison and said, “Thanks for your purchase. Come again!”
