Don’t Fall In Love With Me Mr. Ceo - Chapter 89
Sfx *Ring Ring*
Mia was holding her phone above her head while lying down.
*thwack*
The phone fell on her face.
“Ouch.”
Although her face hurt, she still reached for her phone first by instinct, instead of the pain she felt on her forehead. Disregarding the time, the pain or her feelings she answered the phone.
“William where have you been?” Mia did not have the time to think as she blurted the first words that came to her mind. There was some silence as no one talked after what she said.
Mia started to get nervous, what if the caller was from the hospital that picked up the phone. They were looking for relatives. ‘Oh my god! Please don’t let it be so.’
She was praying hard while the person on the end of the line was not talking. She wanted to say something but was afraid she might interrupt the other person if she starts speaking, so she waited.
Mia thought the silence was long but in truth, it was only a couple of seconds when the other person started to utter some words.
“I’m sorry,” William said in a sincere and soft voice.
Mia felt the rush of relief from her body, just by hearing William’s voice made her relax. She could feel his sincerity.
Mia could only say, “Please don’t do this again. Make sure to inform me next time.” Mia paused and her face was confused.
‘Huh, Why did I say that? Shouldn’t he call his family first before me?’ Her thoughts filled her with doubts.
“I’m sorry for making you worry,” William said once more.
Mia wanted to ask William what happened, but it seemed like he did not want to talk about it right now.
‘If he wanted to tell me. He would have told me already.’ This was what she thought but she still felt some pain in her chest.
Was it disappointment?
Was she disappointed that William did not want to share something important with her?
Then why was she disappointed?
Mia’s forehead started to furrow. Her eyebrows were scrunched whilst thinking when she suddenly remembered something.
“Did you call Stephanie? She’s been worried all day looking for you.” Mia asked the most important question that she forgot.
“No, I haven’t. I wanted to call you first.”
Mia suddenly curled her lips upwards when she heard this. She did not even realize her own actions.
She suddenly felt happier and it was transmitted in her voice. “You should go home and talk with your sister. Don’t make her worry too much. It’s late so you should go home. You need to take care of yourself so you don’t get sick. Eat before you go to bed.”
Mia rambled on and on, some would even consider her demeanor as one of a young wife nagging on her husband. She was even repeating some of her sentences over and over but William patiently listened to all her nagging.
After Mia finished with her lecture, William replied. “Hmm. Goodnight.”
It was all William could answer. What else could he say as he knew it was his mistake for making the people around him worry? He just wanted to make sure to inform Mia he was fine before he started to drive his car and go home. He did not know if his sister will beat him up once he got home but his face was plastered with a smile.
On the other hand, Mia was still holding her phone with both hands while grinning. She felt it was worth waiting for William’s call. She thought about their conversation and could not help but giggle by herself.
Especially the words “I wanted to call you first.” It was replaying like a broken record in her head. She was tossing and turning in her bed, she could not sleep, but this time it was for a different reason.
Since she could not sleep, she decided to open her phone and look at the pictures. But suddenly she felt something wrong, the last couple of days she was just enjoying herself looking at the pictures, but now she felt that something was missing.
When she put the pictures in small panels so she could see them side by side, she finally noticed what was missing. They were all her pictures with the animals, or her looking at them. There was nothing with the both of them together. She was disappointed that there were no pictures of them doing something together. Suddenly, she remembered something.
“Mom took a picture before we headed out. Thank you, mom.” She thought to herself.
She wanted to go down right now and ask her mother for a copy, but when she looked at the time it was already too late.
“They must be asleep.” She did not want to disturb her parents.
She could only wait for morning to arrive. Once again, she found herself tossing and turning but this time for another different reason.
