Don’t Go Breaking My Heart - Volume 1 Chapter 44 Third
“My dear Winter,
This is the 3rd week right? Damn! I must be losing my edge and not cleaning up swiftly. I’m sorry for keeping you waiting and for making you worried. I hope you’re good. I miss you. I miss my parents too. I miss Kevin. I miss you. I know I wrote that already.
Now, let me tell you what I did after I made that decision. I always looked at that person from afar. I wasn’t brave enough to make my presence known. What if I’m not liked? What if I turned out to be a nuisance? Although Kev told me to toughen up numerous times, I really couldn’t when it came to that someone.
All I wanted to do was make that someone happy, and I worked towards it. I made myself better for that someone, and I’ll keep making myself better.
I really want to be there when you open the last letter. I hope I’m there. I hate that I’m not there with you. I hate that you’re not in my arms. I hate that we haven’t been on a date in 3 weeks. I hate that I’m making you wait.
I’ll be back soon to make it up to you. I promise. We’ll do whatever you want to do when I’m back. I love you some much. Don’t overwork yourself. Eat well. Rest well. Stay away from “that guy”.
Love J.
P.S. Don’t ask Kevin. He won’t tell you ^.^”
4 weeks without him was pain for her, but her family and girlfriends made up for that.
Flora had gotten married to the love of her life. It was the perfect ending for their relationship. She was the first of the 3 amigos to get hitched. She only held a reception event much to everyone’s surprise. She and Frank decided to go lowkey and just sign the papers at the courthouse. Her story would be told at a later time.
Soon, Seraphina would turn 21 in the summer, Flora, 24, in the fall, and Claudia, 23, in the winter. Time did fly by fast.
As she was about to pull out the 4th letter, she got a call. Her heartbeat quickened, her body shook, her head spun, her lips dried, and her eyes moistened.
With shaky hands, she picked up her phone.
“Winnie, I’m back.”
That one sentence set off her waterworks. The voice she had craved for was finally heard. He was back. He was really back. Why was she crying? Tears of joy.
“Where are you?” She asked chokingly.
“Base. I’ll be back home in another week. Paperwork and stuff.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m good. I miss you. I missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
They didn’t talk for long, but it was enough to make her excited. She called Kevin, and he let her know that Justin was on the phone with his parents. Everyone finally heaved a sigh.
Her soldier was back! Back before the 5th letter like he had hoped.
