Don’t Go Breaking My Heart - Volume 1 Chapter 5 4 Years Later
The day was beautiful, the weather was great, and the atmosphere was lovely until…
“So Winnie, when are you bringing him home?” Bertha asked while shelling groundnuts.
“Who are you asking about?” She asked innocently.
“The guy who makes you reject every other guy.” She looked at her daughter questionably.
“Is there someone like that? How come I never knew?” She munched on the nuts playfully.
“You’ll have to stop hiding him someday.” She gave up on pestering Winnie. They’ve had this conversation many times, but she always kept her lips sealed.
‘I also wanna meet him,’ she thought to herself as she recalled the face from 4 years ago that took her breath away.
On the other side of town…
“Can you not look so intimidating?” Kevin sneered at his brother who was currently spotting a mean face. “They just wanted to say hi.”
“That means I’m not intimidating enough. I need to give an unapproachable feeling,” Justin said, sipping on his smoothie and looking all adorable.
“Don’t smother me with your feelings. When are you going to see my sis-in-law?”
Justin sighed. “I don’t know how to appear in front of her.”
He hadn’t seen her in 4 years. What if she had forgotten about him? What was he supposed to do then?
Kevin smiled mischievously, “what you need, my dear brother, is liquid courage. Let’s go to the bar.”
“You know I don’t drink,” he replied, bursting his brother’s bubble.
“We’ll get you something with 5% alcohol. You can drink a bottle of Smirnoff Ice,” he said smoothly.
“Okay. I’ll go. No hitting on random girls,” he warned.
“You’re such a killjoy.”
After escaping from her mother’s clutch, Claudia made her way to Seraphina’s house.
“Winnie’s here,” Janet announced as she pulled her in for a hug.
“Granny J, looking good as ever,” Claidia buttered her up.
“Your mouth is sweeter than that silly girl’s ,” she laughed, pinching her cheeks apart.
“Summer is up romancing chemistry.”
“Then I’ll just keep you company then. She always makes me do weird stuffs when she’s in Chemistry mode,” she shivered thinking about the last time Seraphina made her rotate molecular models. She was set free after naming 5 models with much difficulty.
She exchanged gossips with Janet the whole afternoon. There was no “where is the man” pressure. There was more “how I seduced Gramp J” stories. It was totally obvious where Summer inherited her perverted nature from.
By the time Flora came by, it was late in the evening, and we decided to go over to the bar to relax and talk about our days. In all truthfulness, Flora just wanted to hit on guys. Seraphina on the other hand came for the gossip.
Claudia would never have thought that the night would change her into a different person…
