Don’t Go Breaking My Heart - Volume 1 Chapter 6 Meeting I
Around 8pm, the 3 amigos made their way to the bar. Jazz bar was opened a year ago, and the owner was very friendly and understanding. 2 of the 3 amigos had yet to reach the legal drinking age, so he provided the juices and snacks for them specially.
“Did you argue with Frank?” Seraphina asked as she chewed on her choco pie.
“Is it that obvious?” Flora had a sad look when she said that. She’s been with Frank for 3 months now. They fell in love at first sight when they met. She gushed about him so much for a week straight when he had asked her out.
I shrugged at her, “you’re in the bar to flirt. That pretty much says it all.”
“We didn’t really argue. He’s busy, and I wanna hang out with him. Our times clash, and I’m restless,” she said, putting on a bitter smile.
“You’ll figure it out. Your relationship is still fresh. Don’t worry too much about it,” I comforted.
“Use the beauty plan. Let’s see how busy he is by then,” Seraphina interjected.
“No words for you,” shaking her head at the pervert, Flora chuckled.
It was nice to see her mood lighten up.
I was about to tell them about my mom when I saw a figure flash by from the corner of my eye. My heart accelerated a bit. The figure was familiar, and I was sort of expecting something. When I turned around to look, I saw Kevin with the man that disappeared.
I always felt he looked like someone I knew. Seeing him next to Kev, the resemblance was uncanny. My eyes didn’t stay long on Kev.
There he was. In my mom’s words, “the guy who makes me reject every other guy.” His parting words were still etched in my mind, but I never knew when I was going to see him again. I didn’t have his number or address, how was I supposed to find him? Miraculously, he presented himself to me.
I didn’t know when my legs took me to his seat. I guess my heart was in a hurry to make sure he wasn’t an illusion.
“Justin?” I called out, a little unsure.
“Wi… Claudia?” His eyes lit up for a brief moment. I guess he never expected to run into me either.
“It is you. I thought I was wrong for a moment,” I said, chuckling awkwardly.
He rose to his feet and pulled me in for a sudden hug. I was caught off guard, but his embrace felt nice. I didn’t know what to do with my arms, so I just let them rest by my sides. After what seemed like forever, he let me go, and I felt a bit reluctant leaving his warmth.
“When did you get back?” I asked, not caring for the people around. My eyes were only on him.
“2 weeks ago. I didn’t expect to run into you here.” I could tell he was excited. His smile reached his eyes highlighting his sharp features.
“Excuse me…” a voice interrupted what I was going to say.
“Claud, you broke my heart. Is my brother the only one you see?” He asked in a hurt tone.
“I’m so sorry Kev. I was too surprised to see him.” After I said that, it finally registered in my head that Kevin had called Justin ‘brother.’
“He is your brother? How come I never heard about him?”
“He’s nothing interesting to talk about,” he replied as he sneered at his brother.
“Neither are you,” I laughed.
“Are you here with your 2 comrades?”
“Yeah, but I have a lot of catching up to do with Justin. Is it okay if I steal him away?”
I had no idea where the courage came from, but I wasn’t ready to let him slip away again.
Before Kev could reply, Justin’s bass voice rang in my ears, “it’s my pleasure to be stolen away by you.”
I turned my head away to hide my blush.
“You can join Summer and Au. They are lonely,” I said to Kevin before turning away to another table with Justin.
