Chapter 25
VOLUME 10 CHAPTER 25: DON’T TELL ME THIS IS FAN CITY (12)
Liu Bei POV
“Ah, umm… It’s nothing special…” She then stiffly got up and searched through her bag before taking out a gourd, “This is my homemade sugar water, if everyone is okay with it… You can try some…”
When she finished, she sat back down and began pouring for each of us in clockwise order. Apart from Zi Long and I, everyone around seemed rather surprised at this as we were the only ones who had ever drank some before.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had some and I really missed it.” I said as Yuan Zhi poured some for me first. She smiled and did not say anything as she went to Feng Xian next.
“Yes, everyone else might not know but Lord Xu Shu’s sugar water is truly fantastic.” Zi Long chimed in as well.
“Here.
“Un…” Feng Xian grunted as she picked up her cup and sniffed it, “Ah, it’s so fragrant.” Almost immediately, her face changed and her eyes opened up fully.
“Oh~ Indeed it is.” Wen Yuan said as she sniffed it as well.
“It’s definitely good, trust me.” I said as I picked it up and took a whiff of the sweet fragrance as well, “Don’t wait, let’s have it.” I said and finished it in 1 gulp.
“*Gudu* *Gudu* *Gudu* Haa~”
When I placed my cup back down, there was little doubt that there must have been a satisfied look on my face as the 2 of them immediately drank from their cups after seeing me do so.
“*Gudu* *Gudu*… Oh~”
“Ah~”
“T-this thing… It’s way too delicious~” Guan Ping gasped.
“Ah~ We’ll be able to enjoy this luxury from now on now that Lord Xu Shu has joined us.” Zi Long said as she patted Yuan Zhi.
“Oh~ Please be careful, it’ll spill.” Yuan Zhi said and smiled. Looks like she’s rather protective of her own creation, as though it were her child.
“Un un~ We’ll be counting on you for our daily refreshments from now on, Lord Xu Shu~”
“Ah, yes.”
“Hahaha, don’t be so uptight.” Yun Chang said with a stiff smile when Yuan Zhi acknowledged her words like a foot soldier.
Just 1 serving for everyone seems to be enough for everyone to fall in love with this sugar water.
“One more~”
“Ah, Zhou Cang, you’re so cunning!”
“Un, me too~”
“Me, me~”
As I expected, everyone began clamoring for more and raised their cups as they called for Yuan Zhi, making her turn around nervously. To be honest, Yuan Zhi is a lot cuter like this.
Un?
Just then, I noticed Yuan Zhi’s gaze. It seems like she’s asking for help from me. Well, it’s not like I can really do anything here.
“Me too~”
“Hai~~~”
And so, I joined in as well as it seemed very interesting and I did indeed want more while Yuan Zhi sighed. But Yuan Zhi really has changed. She never really interacted with everyone at all the last time but here we are now.
“T-there’s a lot more, e-e-e-everyone please calm down!” She said as she ran around pouring drinks for everyone. Ah, she ended up giving gourds to everyone.
“Alright, alright. Everyone, quit messing around, look at how dizzy you girls made Yuan Zhi.” I said as I clapped my hands and made my way over to Yuan Zhu who was sitting on the floor in a daze with her clothes in a mess, “Yuan Zhi, are you alright~”
“Ah, un.” Yuan Zhi shook her head, &ldquo
;Please have some more, everyone, I still have more…”
“Here, Lord Xu Shu.”
“… Eh?” Yuan Zhi uttered in surprise as she looked at Chen Dao who handed her a bowl of sugar water.
“We all had some already and it doesn’t make sense for the maker herself not to have some. We’re not that unreasonable after all~” Zi Long said as she shrugged.
“Yes, Lord Xu Shu was the star contributor to this battle after all~ And we were always hoping to toast to you.” Yun Chang said as she looked at me. Naturally, I knew what she meant and returned to my seat and took my cup.
“Alright~” I yelled as I brought my cup above my head, as did everyone. Only Yuan Zhi seemed to be at a loss as to what to do.
“Yuan Zhi, Yuan Zhi.” Only after I called out to her several times did she understand and get up as she raised her cup, “Everyone, let us sincerely welcome our new friend– Xu Shu Xu Yuan Zhi~”
“”Lord Xu Shu!!! We look forward to working with you!!!!”” Everyone one yelled out with gus…o…b..fore finishing the sugar water and sighing in satisfaction, “”Haa~~~””
Only Yuan Zhi seemed to have a little shock by the loud noise and stood there in a daze for a long while before she opened her eyes and said very softly, “Un… Many thanks, everyone. I look forward to working with you.”
“That’s the way~ You were way too formal just now~” Zhou Cang said and everyone laughed.
“Yuan Zhi.”
“Un?”
“Drink.” I said as I looked at the cup of sugar water she held in her hands. When she finishes this, it will complete the final step in the ritual to joining us.
“… Un.” Yuan Zhi smiled and nodded at me before looking down at the cup of sugar water in her hands and slowly raised it to her mouth–
“Report! Report!”
Un? A loud yelling came from outside just as Yuan Zhi was about to drink and we were all stunned by this and looked outside.
“Who could it be? What a wet blanket to deliver a message at this time.” Wen Yuan said as she shook her head and then yelled outside, “Where are you from and why have you barged in here directly?”
“I am an amba.s.sador from the Imperial Court and I have an urgent letter!”
“Un? Someone from the capital?”
“Urgent letter?”
Yun Chang and Wen Yuan repeated these key words as the rest of us looked at each other. It was really weird to be receiving a letter at this time of all times from either Meng De or Ben Chu after all.
“Ah…”
“May I ask who is the recipient of this letter?” Zi Long asked just as I was about to. Ah, I nearly forgot that I was supposed to be dead.
“Ah,” The man lowered his head and searched his sleeve as he took out the letter, “Umm, it’s for someone called Xu Shu.”
Eh?
“That would be me.” Yuan Zhi nodded and asked, “So it’s for me?”
“Ah, yes.”
Yuan Zhi calmly set down the cup of sugar water and took the letter, “Who was the sender?”
“Ah… It seems like it was from your family.”
“Eh?” Yuan Zhi was stunned by this answer.
“Ah, Yuan Zhi, could it be from your mother?”
“Ah, un.” Yuan Zhi vigorously nodded and tore open the envelope as she took out the letter and muttered, “But why has it been sent by the Imperial Court…”
Yes, that is weird. And if I remember correctly, is her mother not in labour camp in the border?
