Douluo Dalu: Wulin’s Legend - Chapter 118 Blood Frenzy Sparrow!
Wulin walked around the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, greeting a couple of elders and clan members that passed by.
Despite being new and unfamiliar, the elders received Wulin well because of Ning Fengzhi.
Their strong unity and trust in Ning Fengzhi caused them to believe in any decision that Ning Fengzhi makes, including putting a relatively unknown character as the next leader.
Wulin looked around with no aim in sight; he was just taking in the scenery with admiration and curiosity.
Suddenly, he saw a familiar blonde-haired figure near the main gates; it was Ning Yuzi.
Ning Yuzi was a good man, and his loyalty to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan was extreme.
His one-sided devotion towards the Clan encroached the level of a cult fanatic.
Wulin even thought that Ning Yuzi would instead spit in the face of a Titled Douluo than to sell out the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.
It was because of his pure devotion that Wulin decided that he was comfortable with giving Ning Yuzi some liquid from his Monkey Gourd to purify his body and increase his talent.
“Yuzi!” Wulin called out to Ning Yuzi in a loud voice, causing him to stop in his tracks.
Ning Yuzi quickly spun around and saw Wulin, a pleasant surprise for him.
“Young Master! How are you? What are you doing?” Ning Yuzi happily asked in succession.
He wanted to bow down to show his respect, but Wulin quickly stopped him, as he was already gaining attention from the spectators.
“I am fine, and I was walking around the Clan for fun. What about you, where are you going?”

Wulin wanted to hand the Spirit Liquid to Ning Yuzi but didn’t want to bother him if he had something important to do.
Ning Yuzi was ecstatic that Wulin was taking an interest in his life, and if he had a tail, it would probably be wagging uncontrollably.
“I am doing some work for the Clan, and increasing my experience of the outside world,” Ning Yuzi answered, his smile stretching from one ear to the other.
“Part of being a clan member means searching through villages and small towns to find gifted children and invite them to the clan.”
“Recently, one clan member has sent a report stating that a child in a rural village awakened with an innate Spirit Power of nine.”
“For children who awakened powerful Spirits and high Spirit Powers like this, we send a higher-ranking individual to try and recruit them.”
As Ning Yuzi spoke, his eyes shone with a glint of reminiscence as he remembered the time when the Clan recruited him.
He didn’t know it at the time, but a high-level elder came to Ning Yuzi’s village and recruited him, willing to wait as long as Ning Yuzi needed to sort out his feelings.
Accepting the recruitment was the best decision Ning Yuzi had made, and after years of training, he became the figure face for the branch members.
Ning Yuzi was determined to recruit highly talented children by telling them his story, and showing them how far he has come, and how much more he can achieve.
As someone who comes from an ordinary village, Ning Yuzi was able to empathise with them and was most suited to recruiting them.
Wulin nodded his head as he had a general understanding of the job, “That’s good for you. I have nothing to do right now, so how about we go together?”
He didn’t think it would take too long, so he would go for a small adventure with Ning Yuzi, before getting back to training.
“Young Master, there is no need for you to go yourself. You are the future Clan Head.”
Ning Yuzi hurriedly waved his hand, thinking it was too much if Wulin also came with him.
“Nonsense. As the future Clan Master, I should also get to know the future pillars of the Clan.”
However, Wulin didn’t accept Ning Yuzi’s rejection. He had nothing to do, so he wanted to follow Ning Yuzi.
After a bit of internal turmoil, Ning Yuzi acquiesced, so Wulin asked, “Where does the kid live?”
“She is in Flowing Leaves Village. By my expectations, we should reach it within three days.”
Wulin laughed, “If that is all, then we might be able to return before dinner.”
He conjured his Monkey God’s Nimbus and jumped on, “Jump on. With this, we will arrive much faster than normal.”
Ning Yuzi looked at the cloud-like structure with hesitation, before taking a gulp of air and jumping up.
He landed on the Nimbus and found that the floor was unexpectedly solid, and he released his tense breath.
Although he wasn’t afraid of heights, he felt weird to be jumping onto a cloud when they are not solid objects.
Wulin grabbed Ning Yuzi’s shoulder, keeping him from tripping over.
After getting the direction of Flowing Leaves Village from Ning Yuzi, Wulin controlled the Monkey God’s Nimbus and shot into the sky.
Ning Fengzhi tensed up and froze by the sudden speed that they elevated to the clouds.
It was many times faster than anything he thought was possible for someone of the Spirit King realm.
The Monkey God’s Nimbus was also flying in the air, which is generally reserved for Spirits with wing-like properties.
It wasn’t as fast as Gu Rong’s spatial teleportation, but it was getting close to the speed of an early Titled Douluo.
“Young Master, what kind of Ability is this?! It is unbelievably fast!” Ning Yuzi was staring at the ground beneath him in shock.
The scenery changed every time he blinked; it was as if he was looking at a picture reel.
“This is my self-made Spirit Ability, Monkey God’s Nimbus. It can travel more than ten times my maximum speed,” Wulin answered, satisfied with Yuzi’s shock.
The Monkey God’s Nimbus wasn’t useful as a combat Spirit Ability, as he wasn’t able to fight while moving at his maximum speed.
If he slowed the Monkey God’s Nimbus to a level where he was able to cope, it was simply better to use his movement techniques.
His Monkey God’s Steps and the Tang Sect’s Ghostly Shadow Perplexing Track were more unpredictable and more efficient when considering combat effectiveness.
The Monkey God’s Nimbus caused Wulin to lose a lot of flexibility and maneuverability, so he didn’t use it in combat.
He could only use it if he were fighting in the air, and if he was fleeing or pursuing something.
The two of them flew near the clouds at incredible speeds, unaware of the shadow that was following them from a distance.
Gu Rong hid in the clouds as he occasionally peeked his head out to check on the two boys.
He couldn’t help but sigh when he noticed their travel speed, and he knew they would reach their destination in a few hours.
Wulin never ceased to amaze him, so Gu Rong wondered if he should even be surprised anymore.
Suddenly, he felt presence coming from above the clouds, in front of Wulin.
Wulin was looking around the passing scenery to see if there was anything rare to be found, but it was mainly just a blur from his fast speed.
*Squawk!*
Suddenly, the clouds in front of Wulin exploded, and a humongous Bird Type Spirit Beast appeared through the dissipating mist.
It had blood-red eyes that depicted endless hunger, and its red beak that had serrated edges seemed to drool when watching Wulin and Yuzi.
It had a massive wingspan of over 20 metres, and its brown feathers seemed to be soaked with blotches of blood, presumably its previous meal.
Fortunately, they weren’t close to the Spirit Beast. Otherwise, they would be able to smell the thick stench of blood.
Ning Fengzhi recognised the Spirit Beast and paled, “Young Master, we should quickly land! The Blood Frenzy Sparrow excels in aerial combat!”
The Blood Frenzy Sparrow was a bloodthirsty Spirit Beast that killed for more than just food.
Slaughter was part of its nature, and it had to kill; otherwise, it would go insane and either turn into a senseless slaughter machine or commit suicide.
They are also rare Spirit Beasts because they rarely breed, and once they hatch, the chicks fight each other to the death.
The sole surviving chick feeds on its siblings until it can fly, and hunt for its own food.
Wulin also knew about the Blood Frenzy Sparrow. One could tell the age of the Blood Frenzy Sparrow by the colour of its beak.
The deeper the shade of red, the older the Blood Frenzy Sparrow. By the look of the Blood Frenzy Sparrow in front of them, it was around 40,000 years old.
A 100,000-year-old Blood Frenzy Sparrow would have a red beak as dark as the blood that smeared its razor-sharp beak.
Ning Yuzi was hurriedly asking Wulin to land the Monkey God’s Nimbus, as fighting in the air hindered them greatly.
On the other hand, the Blood Frenzy Sparrow was an expert at aerial combat and usually attacked from above the clouds.
The Blood Frenzy Sparrow squawked loudly, bearing more resemblance to a wyvern than a bird, and swooped at Wulin and Yuzi.
However, Wulin didn’t plan on running away like Ning Yuzi asked, “No need to worry, Yuzi. It is still young, and shouldn’t even think of taking a bite out of me.”
Five Spirit Rings floated out of Wulin’s body and rested above his head, each one was bigger than the next, and they layered each other.
All five Spirit Ring’s had a deep red shade and a densely oppressive aura that crashed into the Blood Frenzy Sparrow with full force.
Most Spirit Beasts are too weak even to understand the majesty of a million-year-old Spirit Ring, so Wulin used a 100,000-year-old Spirit Ring’s oppression instead.
Wulin also added his Slaughter Intent in the attack, causing the Blood Frenzy Sparrow to turn into an ice sculpture.
Although Wulin probably hadn’t killed as many Spirit Beasts as the Blood Frenzy Sparrow, he was much smarter than it and learnt how to focus his Slaughter Intent.
The Blood Frenzy Sparrow was like a statue as it stared at Wulin with its big eyes.
Before it even reached him, it started falling out of the sky, still frozen, and soon plummeted towards the ground.
Wulin stopped the Monkey God’s Nimbus and watched the Blood Frenzy Sparrow fall out of the sky.
Even though he stopped emanating his Slaughter Intent, and hid his Spirit Ring’s, the Blood Frenzy Sparrow showed no signs of awakening.
Wulin wondered if the Blood Frenzy Sparrow may have died from shock, or maybe passed out.
The Blood Frenzy Sparrow didn’t move in the end and splattered against the ground, breaking a couple of tree branches in the process.
Wulin and Ning Yuzi could see that the body of the Blood Frenzy Sparrow created a large crater before bursting blood everywhere.
In a couple of minutes, a bunch of Spirit Beasts would probably surround the corpse of the Blood Frenzy Sparrow.
“… Young Master, amazing,” Ning Yuzi whispered in a soft voice, staring at the blood-red crater in the ground.
Wulin lightly scratched his head, “I didn’t mean to kill it, I just wanted to give it a little scare.”
He couldn’t help but sigh tiredly, “That could have been a great Spirit Ring for somebody looking for beserk properties.”
Because he knew that people subject Spirit Beasts to excessive hunting in the future, Wulin was reluctant to randomly slaughter Spirit Beasts.
Also, Little Jing was a Spirit Beast, so it felt wrong to slaughter these Spirit Beasts for no reason.
After looking at the Blood Frenzy Sparrow one last time, Wulin continued to the Flowing Leaves Village, making sure to be more careful.
