Draconic Online - Chapter 11
Silver’s eyes opened before removing himself from the VRU. He looked towards his phone. It was now 3:00 AM. Silver who did not feel like the VRU gave him the rest needed to maintain his peak condition decided to sleep. When Silver woke up it was 6:00 AM. It seems that with his earlier nap, and his time in the VRU, the amount of sleep he needed to remain in peak condition was not long.
Silver who still wanted to maintain peak condition decided to go on a run. With Silver’s understanding of his body, he could feel that his body has actually made improvements in the game. Silver was surprised, he had not felt such improvement in his capabilities for years.
It would seem that Draconic had more to it then he originally thought. He ran slightly further then usual, running many tests on his capabilities. For the 24 hours he has spent in the VRU, he calculated that his capabilities have as least increased by half a percent. Only a small part of this improvement came from physical increases from the liquid nutrition, the life or death battles he held in the game resulted in a far greater increase in strength.
Silver momentarily became worried that killing in real life would become more difficult if this game if these results were shared by others. He would have to be slightly more careful the next time he had a target.
After returning home he went back into the VRU with the goal of reaching level 9 as quickly as possible.
After logging on Silver appeared at the of the edge of the village were he had signed out. After appearing Silver was wondering how he would best level up. Just when he began making his way towards the city center he spotted a man standing in an alley watching.
When Silver noticed him, he was waved over mysteriously. Silver intrigued by childish curiosity that he would never act on in real life walked over. “Hello, friend of Mayor Leon; As the most famed adventurers of this village I have a small request for you.”
Silver rather curious greeted the man casually. “That depends on the request.”
Expecting such an answer the man chuckled “If it is further fame you despire young assassin, this request may not be for the best.”
Silver who somewhat desired true fame thought for a moment. “Although fame is not my main goal, someone of my caliber can’t possibly stay hidden forever. Allow me to hear the quest, I doubt how I handle the situation matters much.”
“What a interesting young man, I will allow my task to be completed by you. As for rewards I can guarantee they will match what you desire; their is nothing sacred for us assassin, each walks their own path. The Guild will only give this mission to you, this request will not be given to any others, no matter the result.” He took out a scroll, then instantly vanished without a trace.
Silver looked at the written scroll.
Allowing one to die, that is what General Goods owner Noel is guilty of. Those who return with fatal wounds, will not be spared a single potion, without proper currency. Although not a crime by law, requests have been made to the Guild. The Guild has left it up to you, what punishment do you deem correct?>
Silver was taken aback to think that such a situation would occur in game. A moral dilemma. Silver was experienced in such occurrences, but this situation was quite different. Silver usually only killed those who were truly morally repugnant. Someone who does no wrong, but those who refuse even the slightest loss in order to save others; such a person Silver has yet to kill.
What to do? Silver put off the decision, he made his way towards the general goods store with an idea in mind.
Silver walked in and greeted Noel who was manning the store.
“Welcome Novice Assassin, what can I get for you?”
“I have a small request, let us say a friend is coming here in a moment. They are planning on purchasing a potion to heal his wounds. Although he has the capital, I can guarantee you tenfold whatever he offers, I just ask you to say your stock is out.” After quite a bit of thought Silver decided that depending on his reasoning, his previous actions may not justify death. A test was in order.
Silver made the judgment that if the shop owner was unwilling to sell an item to him due to bribery, he would be worthy of death.
“Although I do not know what wrongs this friend has committed, I will not dirty my hands to such a degree. Although I know that my reputation is deplorable, that is only because a have consistent standards that all must follow. Leave now, I will certainly sell a potion to whoever brings enough money for one, even you.” The Shopkeeper said confidently.
Hostile>
Silver made a small smile saying aloud, “Then it seems that my mission is complete.” After thanking the shop keeper Silver left the shop. The Shopkeeper was slightly confused.
Silver returned to the alley where he saw the mysterious man. “Has the task been completed?” Silver who has not experienced being sneaked up on in years was rather shocked.
“The task is as complete as it could be by my standard.” Silver said without a hint of doubt carried in his voice.
“A truly righteous assassin, although I cannot speak of the opinions of other assassins opinions, I am able to speak for myself, and therefore the guild, we believe you are a worthy one. Although monetary rewards will have to be returned, here are your rewards for finishing my quest.”
– Gained 10000 Experience
– Reputation moderately increased with Quest Giver
– Gained Bound
“Ding” With a generous amount of experience Silver leveled up to Seven.
Silver had quite a bit of Free Attributes, and a Talent Points to use. After looking and equipping the Emblem
(Emblem) [Bound]
Rarity: Uncommon (Green)
Dexterity + 5
Movement Speed + 10
Bonus: Stealth Duration + 5 Seconds, Stealth Effectiveness + 15%.
Collect 100 drops of blood from those that you deem worthy of death. The quality of growth will be greatly affected by the shared morals of whom the blood comes from.
Silver happy with the growth item then decided to use his Free Attribute Points. Silver placed two points into Dexterity(+1) and the remaining two into Strength.
After that Silver turned towards his free talent point. He viewed the three trees that were available, currently all but the first part of each Talent Tree were blacked out. He viewed his three options,
First Tree, One Hit one Kill: An Assassin who excels at instantly killing their opponent. The visible talent on the tree was; Instant Kill 0/3: increases the damage on First Blow 25%/50%/100%.
Second Tree, Combo Killer: An Assassin who excels at the continued use of skills to quickly finish off multiple opponents. The first talent on the tree;Master of Skills 0/3: Decreases the cooldown of all skills by 5%/10%/25%.
Third Tree, Untouchable Theif: A Killer who excels at avoiding all things; including strikes from their opponents, and the attention of those who will likely fall victim to them. The talent for this tree was;Hard to see 0/3: Effectiveness of stealth increased by 5%/15%/30%.
After a moment of thought Silver decided that Combo Killer would likely scale best with his player style. He placed a point into the Combo Killer decreasing all his skill cooldown by 5%.
