Draconic Online - Chapter 5

Due to the large amount of players between the Village and the Hamtara Mountains Silver did not have to kill many mobs on the way. Once he reached the mountains he ran into his first problem. The area of the mountains was big; and to find a hiding Dragonborn within, would take quite a while.

Although a few players were grinding near the mountains, the amount of players were rather unsubstantial compared to its size. The mountains were filled with rather powerful Harpies luckily high burst damage was strong against the squishy Harpies. The only problem in killing them is that if Silver failed to kill the Harpy with a single burst they would escape to the air making killing them much more time consuming.

After killing the Harpy a unfortunate problem arose; Silvers’ Stealth cooldown was to long at five minutes which would effect his progression drastically. Silver finally put the advertised 99% realism to the test. Silver calmed his breathing and entered a focused state. Silver started to stalk his next target from a distance. He slowly approached with calm steps, he was able to reach within 4 meters of the Harpy before the target showed any reaction. The moment he saw the slightest motion he activated and quickly reach the harpy. With a and two follow up strikes he succeeded in killing the Harpy. His last strike barley grazed the Harpy, but it took the final few HP away. If not for Which has an even longer cooldown then Stealth he would not of been able to finish off the Harpy.

That being said the experience gave Silver confidence, with only a few more round of practice he became capable of getting within 3 meters of the harpy without it noticing. This seemed to be the limit without a stealth skill, but this was enough. Using only Silver was able to kill a Harpy without giving it a chance of escape. Being able to kill a Harpy every 12 second was a rate that only he Silver could pull off. Silver predicted that for an average player even getting within 6 meters of the Harpy would be challenging.

After killing 150 Harpies his Shadow Slash finally reached Skill Level 2,

Shadow Slash, Cast Time: .85s (Attack Speed*1.0 —> 1.1), Using a blazingly swift hand technique slash an enemy

– Deal 26.8 Damage to an enemy (Attack*1.2 —>1.3)

– Cooldown reset if used in stealth

– Cooldown 12 Second

Skill Level: 2 (Proficiency 0%)

Silver was very reliant on Shadow Strike for DPS due to his lack of class skills, this skill upgrade made kill the Harpies even easier. Shortly after

“Ding” Silver leveled up to level 4.

Silver once again decided to place his two free attribute points into Strength bringing it to 9, and Dexterity to 22. When Silver finally reached the depths of the mountains he found a powerful looking Harpy.

Silver knew that there was no way for him to kill the Harpy Princess before it took flight, so the only option left was for him to have a prolonged battle with it. Silver entered used twice followed up by a normal swing.

The Princess reacted much faster then normal Harpies and was quickly able to fly out of Silvers’ attack range. By quickly flapping its wings the princess was capable of creating blades of air, launching them at Silver. Silver did his best to dodge as many as possible, and activated Minor Shield as soon as he was about to be hit.

After Minor Shield duration was over Silver struggled to dodge, but was slowly taking more and more damage. Silver made a quick decision and drank a health potion

The Harpy continued to launch blades of air causing Silver to lose a critical amount of hp. After launching over 20 air blades the Harpy seemed to of run out of steam. The Harpy landed close by to Silver.

Silver was not one to miss an opportunity when presented to him. He activated and quickly attacked the Harpy. He did not believe himself capable of surviving another assault if the Harpy took flight again.

The Harpy was unwilling to not fight back and attacked Silver with her claws

Silver was truly on his last breath with his health at only 12, and the cooldown for health potions not even being half way over. Silver concentration reached its maximum, striking the Harpy with even greater precision then before.

The Harpy Struck back with another claw attack, which Silver parried to the best of his ability

Silver was left at two HP, and knew it was now or never, he struck the Harpy twice more

The Harpy Princess shrieked and finally died! Silver eyes immediately shined when he saw a book had dropped from the Harpy. Silver quickly picked up the skill book, and prepared a campfire in order to regain his health, and stamina. He began to read;

Dagger Throw, Cast Time: .8s (Attack Speed*1.2), Surprise your enemy by throwing your parrying dagger at the enemy. Must have a Parry Dagger equipped.

-Deal 34.5 Damage to an enemy (Attack*1.5)

-If the dagger successfully lands on target, the target will be stunned 1 Second.

-Dagger must be retrieved before being able to use this skill, or parry again.

-Cooldown 1 Minute

Skill Level: 1 (Proficiency 0%)

Skill books were extremely rare in all novice villages, there where no trainers, and elite mobs had super low drop rates. Draconic wanted those in the novice villages to focus on bettering there combat abilities and not rely on skills. Silver was obviously extremely lucky, and he would not miss the opportunity; Silver immediately learnt the skill book.

After recovering his hp and a large amount of stamina, Silver searched the depths of the mountains, when the princess was killed most other Harpies fled in fear. After searching for about a half hour Silver found signs of injury which lead him to a makeshift shelter.

once the shelter was in sight Silver entered and sneakily approached the shelter.

“Hmph, they dare send such a weak assassin to kill me!” A powerful voice came from inside. Slowly a large Dragonborn holding a colossal two-handed sword entered Silvers’ vision; exiting out of the makeshift shelter.
