Dragon Breaks The Void - Chapter 34 The City Lord
The energies receded from Van’s eyes and Van’s eyes quickly reverted to their original condition. The extremely ripped version of Van had disappeared, most likely to be never seen in this world again. Through the cultivation that Van had just done, the muscle effect on his body had now disappeared.
Van sighed contentedly. It felt good to have his old body back. He preferred himself in the image of a scholar instead of an extremely buff muscle head.
Suddenly, his consciousness body started to slowly disintegrate into many star lights. Van was rather shocked but allowed nature to take its course.
Van woke up to find a strange man next to him. The man was quite the enigma. Everything about him was normal except for the way he looked. He was extremely beautiful and one could easily mistake him for a girl if he was dressed in women’s clothing.
Van cupped his hands and bowed towards the man.
“Greetings, Senior. This junior would like to know if senior was the outside force helping me in my consciousness.”
The City Lord smiled and nodded. This youth was strangely polite and had due respect towards his elders.
Van’s eyes shined. One had to be at least at the Saint rank to be able to access another’s consciousness world. This was probably the city lord.
“Junior would like to ask. Is Senior the Celestial Heavens City Lord?”
The City Lord’s eyes shined with appreciation and expectation. This youth had an extremely high intellect and a rather good talent. Reaching the 1st Stage of Inner Discovery at around the age of 14 was an achievement that even he, an expert at the God rank, had to grudgingly accept.
Van was extremely excited. He had met the City Lord of the Celestial Heavens City! Even Saints usually wouldn’t get such an honor. He had heard rumors on his way here that the City Lord was a God ranked expert. Such an expert was at a stage so high that he couldn’t even imagine what it entailed.
They exchanged pleasantries for a bit before the City Lord had an idea.
“Would you like to become my disciple?”
Van’s eyes started to shine. He felt as if this man was the right master for him. He could feel a faint aura of Grandmist energy coming from the City Lord and the fact that he was a god ranked expert made it all the better!
“But Senior City Lord, I will have to return to my original position in about 8 days! How will you guide me?”
“Worthless shameless brat!”
Van looked up with a surprised expression to see the City Lord unmoved. Van smiles wryly he had forgotten about his “true” master.
Yu Lin was furious. Van dared to find a master right in front of him! And one only at the God Stage at that. Yu Lin could eliminate such an ant at any time if he was free from the orb that is. He started to whimper once again when he was reminded of his dilemma, but he strengthened his determination.
I’m a proud Divine Golden Dragon! I shall not be swayed by such insignificant emotions!
Yu Lin puffed out his chest and continued to berate Van.
The City Lord was flabberghasted. He didn’t expect Van to have a Divine Object. Divine Objects are objects that contained souls that were equivalent divine beings or those past the God level. These divine objects are organized into a few categories: Ordinary, Medium, High, Supreme, and Peerless qualities. These qualities corresponded to the God and True God Stages, True Divinity Stage, Quasi Deity, True Deity Stage, and High Deity Stage.
Of course, this was a misunderstanding on the City Lord’s part. He had mistaken Yu Lin for a Divine Object when Yu Lin himself was only a High Deity that had gotten himself trapped in an orb or dodecahedron.
Van had his head down and lost himself in contemplating the mysteries of the Dao and cultivation as Yu Lin berated him. Van had gotten rather used to Yu Lin’s temper tantrums. Surprisingly enough, by enduring through these tantrums, he had obtained the skill to multitask. He could now cultivate while contemplating the Dao or in this situation contemplate the Dao while enduring Yu Lin’s verbal smackdown.
The Dao is a long and winding path. Not all make it to the end. There is much suffering on the way. The Dao is infinite, but we are not. So how must we obtain the Dao?
Van thought to himself. He could faintly here Yu Lin in the background. He was complaining about the insolence of the younger generation. It went something like.
“How dare you not listen to me?!! You dare contemplate the Dao while I’m lecturing you?!! I knew I shouldn’t have taken you in!! People of this generation are such brats!”
A profound aura appeared around Van and his understanding of the Great Dao had once again increased.
The City Lord smiled at Van approvingly. He had made the right choice in asking Van. He had received doubts when he saw Yu Lin in orb form emerge, but his decision was now confirmed when he saw Van experience sudden enlightenment.
Maybe I’ll just take him in as a teacher. I wouldn’t want to offend that High ranking Divine Object.
The City Lord could feel the vast amounts of power sealed within that Divine Object. Just the amount that was leaking out already surpassed the Divine Power of a God. It was better not to offend one of such a high stage.
“Honored Senior. This humble junior would like to ask for your name.”
The City Lord bowed towards Yu Lin (orb form). The orb turned towards the City Lord, stunned for a second before it forgot about Van for a second.
“Finally! Someone with taste and proper knowledge! My name is Yu Lin!”
Yu Lin went over and started chatting with the City Lord. He encouraged the City Lord’s flattery and seemed to be able to converse forever.
I seem to have gotten myself into an irreversible and regrettable situation. Van wake up quickly!
The City Lord smiled outwardly and nodded along, offering words of flattery here and there. But alas, no one could endure the extreme joy that Yu Lin took in being flattered. Not even a God ranked expert, one who had cultivated for thousands of years to break through the chains of mortality could withstand such a powerful and destructive force of nature.
While the City Lord continued to regret his decision to talk to Yu Lin more and more, Van continued to contemplate the Dao. His energies became a lot more rampant but would become more condensed. He could also feel his control over them improve over time.
This time, he wasn’t transported into his consciousness but was instead propelled to his Dantian. His bloodline had reacted previously, but this time its reaction was more drastic. His blood was boiling as if the comprehensions of the Great Dao had triggered the Ancestor that his bloodline had come from.
He could still remember that one line he had heard in his mind. “The Celestials of Old have fallen. It is time for New Blood to take up the mantle of the Old.”
The Celestials of Old? Who were the Celestials of the Old and how must I take up their mantle?
The crown in his Dantian that was floating before him started doubling in size. In a few seconds, it filled half of his Dantian.
What is happening?!
Van’s embodied soul retreated to the far corner of the Dantian. That’s when something unexpected happened. That’s when the crown exploded into a red mist. Just like a balloon. Pop!
