Dragon Breaks The Void - Chapter 35 Retracing the Bloodline
Wait… What?! How did that just happen?! I couldn’t have lost my bloodline right?
Van used his Qi sense to search his blood flow for the distinct Qi from his bloodline. Sure enough, it was still there.
If my bloodline power is still with me, what happened to the crown? Wasn’t it supposed to represent my bloodline power? Or was it just there as a symbol for formality’s sake?
Van was extremely confused at the moment. He decided to go back into his Outer Dantian. He found the red mist to be exactly where he left it. But this time, it seemed to have condensed into a vague shape. It would take some time to take form maybe a day at most.
He left his Dantian to find Yu Lin and the City Lord conversing. But one couldn’t really call it conversing, it was more like an act in a play. The City Lord would flatter Yu Lin while Yu Lin would, in response, act humbly and deny such claims that were “too far above him”.
Van smiled wryly. Why did he find this seem so familiar? Oh, yes. He remembered now. It was similar to his extravaganza with Yu Lin after his escapade into the Blood Red Jade slip where he found the Dragon Breaks the Void Martial Technique.
“Yu Lin! I’m back!… You can go back to my bag now!”
Yu Lin finally broke out of the conversation with the City Lord and had his mental projection re-enter the orb, before letting Van place it in his bag.
“I apologize for that Senior, something came up and I had to meditate for a second, I hope my master hasn’t done anything too rash.”
The City Lord had a smile plastered to his face.
“Oh, no. He was quite the conversation companion. I had a good time.”
Yu Lin nodded approvingly to Van’s acknowledgment of him as his master and at the City Lord’s response.
“I see a great future that lies ahead for both of you.”
Yu Lin sent out a mental projection of a wise elder stroking his long snowy white beard. Van put a hand over his mouth to suppress his laughter. Yu Lin had a large ego and his ways of propping it up weren’t exactly the norm.
“My disciple, how have I raised you that you must be so disrespectful?”
The projection now had a disappointed face as it looked towards Van.
“I’m sorry Master. But it was too amusing for me to withhold my laughter.”
Van bowed mockingly towards the projection. At times, he considered Yu Lin as a proper teacher, but other times, he preferred to ignore Yu Lin for his iniquities.
Van turned towards the City Lord and cupped his hands and bowed, saying.
“As I already have a Master, I cannot take you as a Master. But I would still like to receive you as my teacher.”
“Then I shall accept you as my student.”
Van stood up straight and plastered a broad smiled to his face.
“I will not disappoint you, teacher!”
“I know you won’t. Here take this.”
The City Lord tossed over a Jade Slip. Van caught it deftly and started to inspect it. On it was the words: “Personal Disciple”
“This is so you can travel freely in the Celestial Heavens City. You’ll even get a discount as a bonus.”
“Thank you, teacher!”
Van was beaming with excitement, during the limited amount of time he had left, he would do his best to study and get stronger.
5 days of intense book reading and training passed, Van had endured many hours of lectures and training sessions with the City Lord. Finally, the Crown had recondensed in Van’s Dantian. This time it had turned into an empty throne. Van was slightly confused with its choice of shape for condensation but didn’t judge.
He reached out with his spiritual sense and attached a string of Qi to it. Suddenly, he saw a scene appear before him. A few words also appeared in his vision.
“Endure the battle and watch until the end. One must recall one’s origins.”
He had appeared in a world with a red sky. The earth below him was brownish yellow dirt. There were mountain ranges on either side that reached far into the distance and seemed to reach the heavens with their summits. That’s when Van noticed the two armies on either side of him. There were 7 Mighty gods dressed in Divine Armor. These were existences that even Yu Lin had to bow down to.
There were three gods on either side of the world. But one of the gods sat in the middle of the two armies, upon his head was a black Imperial crown. He had the smallest army, but they seemed to be the strongest force of the three. His physical size was also noticeably larger than the other 6 gods.
That must be my ancestor.
Van thought to himself.
“Senior! I have a question!”
Van yelled into the distance, hoping that his ancestor would hear him. As expected, there was no reaction. The three armies continued to face each other in silence, except for the sound of rustling armor.
This is a memory, I don’t really know what I expected from this too be honest. I need to find a place to hide so that my “body” in this world doesn’t get destroyed. After a few minutes of diligent searching, Van found a deep crater nearby. Van jumped inside and started to make himself cozy before turning his attention back to the three armies.
About an hour later, the largest opposing god raised his weapon and let out a battle cry. The rest of the combatants followed and the battlefield descended into chaos. In such a battle of epic proportions, strategy was thrown to the wind and the only thing on the minds of the combatants was the thought to kill.
Van watched in shock as the three armies collided. The middle army held on well despite being pincered by two armies. Van’s ancestor fought all 6 gods at once. He wielded a sleek black saber with a streak of violet upon its edge. The Qi fluctuations caused Van’s hair to stand on end and he had to swallow a mouthful of blood.
Van stared in awe at the scene. What was his Ancestor’s cultivation before he died, that the way he died was by a battle of such a scale?
