Dragon Breaks The Void - Chapter 44 Iron Rank Promotion
Van quickly recovered and stood up, he pulled his saber out of the ground and stared at the four remaining beasts defiantly. The Four Beasts stared at him and roared oppressively, unleashing their auras in hope that they would be able to win the battle before it could even start. Instead, this allowed Van to release his bloodline aura. The aura of a sovereign erupted in the battlefield and the beasts unconsciously fell to one knee. Van released a bit of the seal that he had placed on his cultivation, raising it up by a few sub-stages. An instant later, the heads of all the beasts had separated from the rest of the body and Van sheathed his saber.
The wind rustled his clothing and Van stood there staring off into the distance, looking like a lone hero. Somewhere in a hidden room, the Examiner could feel her heart pick up as she witnessed this scene. She put her hand over her heart and her expression turned tender. She shook her head and her expression turned back to her normal blank slate expression. She wouldn’t let this 13-year-old boy cause disturbance in her heart.
Thoughts raced through her head as she replayed what she had just seen. She was only at the late stages of Dantian Formation and couldn’t see through Van’s true cultivation at the Peak of the 2nd Layer of Inner Discovery. She had noticed that Van had tempered his organs slightly but she assumed that it was his cultivation technique’s special properties. She was inclined to ask him about it but did not have any evil designs upon it. She was satisfied with her current cultivation technique.

All the while, Van watched as his illusory body that his soul occupied slowly disintegrated along with the trial world around him.
“Congratulations! You’ve passed.”
Said a female voice that seemed to come from the darkness. Van slowly opened his eyelids to find himself on a straw bed. He laid there, unmoving for a few minutes so that he could get used to his body once again after a few hours of not using it.
Authors Note: His real body was transported to the Celestial Heavens but he spent more time to clear the trial, which is why he isn’t used to being in his real body.
Van sat up and rubbed his eyes and forehead, trying to get the temporary aching, tired feeling in his body. Then he felt a tingling feeling as a mental transmission came from the Examiner, urging him to quickly go outside. Feeling no reason to not follow the directions, Van through his legs over the side of the bed and headed out to the gathering point. He was met with a crowd of impatient annoyed faces from the contestants.
Van was extremely confused.
What have a done to offend them? Not too long ago we were just fellow contestants without any impressions of each other. Yet, now they seemed to already have made a negative judgment on him. Van smiled awkwardly and waved at them, trying to look friendly, before entering the rest of the crowd. The Announcer coughed into his fist to bring attention to himself before speaking up.
“Alright, now that the last contestant has finished. The Examiner will now give her congratulations and distribute the new Iron rank command medallions for the Missions Division.”
After making his announcement, the Announcer walked off to the side of the stage, giving way for the Examiner to give her speech. She walked up to the middle of the stage, her hips swaying, drawing the eyes of all.
“Congratulations, Children on getting past the trials and entering the ranks of the elites of the Inner Sect.”
She said this casually before waving her hand, gesturing for the medallions to be distributed. A few servants with low cultivations, around the early stages of Body Fortification, walked over with trays with Iron Medallions arranged in neat rows on a cloth. When they reached Van, he reached out to take it, but the servant suddenly withdrew the tray and leaned into Van’s ear passing a message.
“The Examiner would like to meet with you later.”
After saying this, the servant moved down the row, distributing the other medallions. After everyone had gotten their medallions, they all left one by one. Van waited, leaning against the wall. When everyone had left, the Examiner gestured for Van to follow and they walked to the hidden room that the Examiner had used previously. They sat down in opposite well-cushioned chairs. Servants came in with drinks and snacks.
Van was famished and started to munch on the food, showing his childish side. He smiled childishly as he indulged in the crumbly texture of the salted crackers paired with a slice of ham and cheese. The Examiner smiled, watching Van maternally. After sating his hunger, Van shed his innocent side and turned to the Examiner, ready for business. The Examiner sighed inwardly, secretly hoping that the moment could have continued on for a bit longer.
Then she decided to speak up.
“I’m sorry, I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Ngan Dinh. As you know, I am the examiner for the Missions Division Iron Rank Promotions test. I am also the examiner for the Gold and Platinum promotions test. Nice to meet you, Van Nguyen.”
She did a flourished curtsy before gesturing for Van to speak. Van considered her words and nodded slightly before standing up to respond.
“I am Van Nguyen, a lowly Inner Sect Disciple. It is an honor to meet you, Ms. Dinh.”
Van gave a low respectful bow in response and waited for Ms. Dinh to continue. She gestured for him to sat down before sitting down herself.
“Out of all the contestants that succeeded, only you chose a trial with more than 2 elements. As a result, you are the highest achieving contestant.”
She paused for a moment, for suspense, before continuing.
“As a result, I would like to give you a Platinum ranked medallion instead.”
