Dragon Breaks The Void - Chapter 50 A Cup Of Tea
Giving a warning look to the two attendants of the recently deceased Young Master Yu Chang and the hidden expert in the shadows, Van walked towards the stairs, intending to leave. The crowd parted before him. But, before he could take a step down the stairs, a feminine voice spoke up in a respectful tone.
“This Young Master would like to inquire of the talented youth’s esteemed name.”
Turning around in surprise, he was met with a stunning young woman with three attendants. The attendant that had confronted Young Master Yu Chang before, with the cultivation base at the 6th Stage of Dantian Formation, stood next to her with his arms crossed. Scanning his eyes across Van’s body for any threats, the attendant seemed ready to spring and lay down his life for his mistress if Van showed even the slightest sign of hostility. Admiring the attendant’s fearlessness and taking notice of the Young Mistress’ formidable aura, he fully turned around and decided that they were worth having a conversation with. Having done so, he spoke up in reply.
“My name is Van Nguyen. I am just a lone cultivator passing by.”
Displaying a warm smile on his face, he was prepared to leave the Dragon Tea Pavilion and continue on to explore the rest of the city. But just as he was about to leave, he was stopped by a soft hand on his shoulder. He turned around in shock to find that the Young Mistress had personally stopped him. The male attendant and her other two female attendants stared at their young lady in shock. They had never seen her initiate physical contact with any male until today. They immediately exclaimed their shock.
“Y-y-young Mistress! It is inappropriate for you to personally approach a male outside of your family!”
Ignoring their protests, the Young Mistress instead spoke up once again in invitation.
“Would you like to join me in drinking some tea?”
The attendants once more spoke up in protest.
“Young Mistress! You must not drink alone with a male stranger, especially those of unknown origin! Who knows what intentions he has?!”
Once more, the Young Mistress disregarded her attendants’ advice and instead stretched her hand out to Van In invitation. Her instincts had told her that she was connected to this young man through fate and the feeling this time was so strong that she just couldn’t ignore it. Besides, she currently had a need for talented young geniuses. As Van was contemplating whether or not to accept her invitation, he overheard a few statements from the crowd.
“Such a lucky genius, getting invited by the Young Mistress of the Dragon Tea Pavilion herself for a cup of tea. I’m jealous.”
“Maybe, I should’ve killed that Young Master Yu Chang. Although I would’ve offended the Yu Family, I would obtain the approval of the Dragon Tea Pavilion’s Young Mistress. Aiya, so jealous!”
“How can I dare to decline an invitation from the noble and fair young lady? Besides, my throat happens to be parched from overworking myself recently.”
With a shameless smile adorning his face, he accepted her invitation, shaking her hand. Dragon Tea Pavilion’s Young Mistress quickly withdrew her hand before waving for Van and her attendants to follow her. They walked past the guards on each floor, who quickly withdrew to the sides after seeing the Young Mistress. Finally, they made it to the 7th floor. The 7th floor was split into 4 different rooms with only one of them being currently occupied. The Mistress walked into one of the empty rooms and sat down at the large circular table, gesturing for Van to sit as well. Admiring the luxurious interior design, he chose the chair opposite to her. The male attendant stood outside guarding the entrance while the two female attendants stood on either side of the Young Mistress. Initiating the conversation, the Young Mistress invited Van to have some tea.
“Shall we have some tea, Young Master Van?”
Trying not to seem too eager, Van nodded slowly. To pass the time while waiting, Van decided to see if he could find out more about her identity and true motives. With these intentions in mind, he started to ask her some questions.
“So, first off. I would like to know your name. Although I know of your identity as the Dragon Tea Pavilion’s Young Mistress, it would be easier to talk if we knew each other’s names.”
Looking back in hindsight, Van realized that he probably should’ve waited for the Young Mistress to reveal her name before revealing his name. Although his name was not known to the public yet, as he was a new Inner Disciple, it wasn’t something to be carelessly thrown around either, especially if he became reputable in the future. Luckily for Van, the Young Mistress was willing to give Van her name. Covering her small red lips with her sleeve, she giggled before responding.
“Responding to Young Master Van’s question, this one’s name is Liu Meirong.”
Replying to Liu Meirong, Van responded with utmost courtesy.
“So, it is Fairy Meirong’s presence that I am graced with. I am honored.”
Saying so, Van cupped his hands and gave a short bow in polite greeting. Van was about to open his mouth and ask Liu Meirong what her intentions were directly, when they were interrupted by a server parting the curtain and bringing in the tea. A pleasantly fragrant smell floated across the room, giving a mind calming effect to all that could smell it. It even brought a small reaction from his treasure body. The server placed the two tea cups in front of Liu Meirong and Van, in that order, and picked up the porcelain pot, ready to pour the tea. After pouring the cup for Liu Meirong, the server was waved away by Liu Meirong. Placing the pot down on the table, he bowed before leaving. Liu Meirong then picked up the pot and personally poured the tea for Van despite the female attendants beside her insisting that they could do it. After that was said and done, Fairy Meirong and Van started to sip the tea.
Although both sipped the tea, both of them had different secondary actions. Van had become completely engrossed in the flavor of the tea, savoring every sip and eventually drinking the entire cup. The coolness as it slipped down his throat, as well as the mellow Qi that flowed from the liquid into his meridians, had brought the youth into a trance. Being a scholar, he had taken up the habit of drinking tea and enjoyed the taste of tea many times, but none of the tea in the past could compare to even a single drop of the tea that he currently enjoyed. On the contrary, Fairy Meirong had only taken a single sip and observed Van with a studying gaze.
