Dragons Heart - Chapter 21
A few days after Takeo and Kamilah fought, at school during lunch, Takeo sat down with his tray. “Taco Tuesdays, one of two days the food is actually good”, he said with a sigh. “Be glad we get first lunch, imagine how the third lunch people must feel”, said Sarah Valaris, Takeo’s childhood friend. Sarah, Takeo, and another girl named Angelica all knew each other since they were 3 years old and grew up in the same neighborhood. They always played together and hanged out together as they grew up. While Takeo was the laid-back, chilled one of them, Sarah was the edgy one and Angelica was the strict, mature one.
“Yeah, but still, can’t they do food like this everyday?”, Takeo said kinda whiney. Sarah shrugged with a giggle. “They probably want us to eat healthier”, she said while eating. “Healthy, huh, with burgers, tacos, and pizzas almost everyday, yeah okay”, Takeo retorted. They both laughed as they ate their tacos. After a while, some of the other kids by them started talking. “Hey, did you hear, tonight’s gonna be a full moon”, said one boy. “oooooo, scary, better stay inside so no vampires or werewolves eat you”, joked another boy. Sarah rolled her eyes, “tch, get real”, she says. “wait, I just checked my news feed on my phone, it’s gonna be a red full moon tonight”, said a older boy. “W-What!?!”, Sarah said shocked. “whoa, really?!” said a freshman kid. “Yeah, and it’s gonna last for the next two weeks, crazy”, the older boy said. “Oh no”, Sarah said low. Takeo turned to her, “what’s up, scared of some blood-suckers and giant wolves?”, he joked. “N-no, of course not, they don’t e-exist”, she stuttered. “Hey, you okay, you look a little sick”, Takeo said, putting his hand on her face. Normally, this gesture is considered something done by couples, but since Sarah and Takeo consider each other brother and sister, they don’t mind the other doing that. “I’m fine, just the taco kinda went done weird”, Sarah said with a fake smile. Takeo looked at her with concerned and a little suspicion.
After school, Sarah came up to Takeo. “Hey, do you go out at night for anything?”, she asked him. “Why ask?”, Takeo replied, question with question. “Just answer”, she said, kinda forcefully. Takeo replied, “Not really, I mean, if I feel the need to train, I will, but why do yo-“. “Don’t, for the next two weeks”, Sarah interrupted. She walked off to her bus. “Sarah, wait, why…”, Takeo shouted but she was already halfway to her bus. “She’s been acting strange ever since those kids mentioned…”, Takeo thought to himself before realizing something. When he got home, he asked his mom if other races or species exist on Earth besides the humans, animals and fish, the Dragonkin, and the Felidae. “Hmmm, not that I know of, why ask?”, his mom said. Takeo went quiet before replying, “Do you think Vampires and werewolves exist?”. “Of course not…wait, why ask?”, she said, realizing something’s bothering him. “I think…Sarah might be one of those”, Takeo said. Bellona paused as she remembered something one of her troops said back when she was a Knight. A story about the King of Vampires, Count Dracula Vlad Tepes, and that he apparently had two children. One was the infamously known Alucard, but he also had a girl, Seraphine Vlad Tepes. Bellona didn’t believe this, because at the time, Vampires were considered more of a rumor than actual beings. Later in her career, that changed when she met a old vampire, who knew the Count as a friend. Bellona thought then told Takeo “sweetie, go out tonight and find Sarah, see what’s she’s up to”. Takeo asked why but she didn’t give him an answer. Just told him “just do it”. Later that night, when the Blood red moon shined on the dark world, Takeo left out as his mother told him. He searched and searched for Sarah but no luck. “Gah, why did she send me out here if there’s noth-” Takeo stopped as he heard a very strange and odd noise. “It came from behind that house” he thought to himself as he creeped towards the house. As he got closer, he could heard the sound more clearly and it sounded disgusting. The sound was like something crunching on some very juicy and crunchy piece of meat. When he peeked around the house, his eyes widened as he couldn’t believe who he has and what that person was doing.
