Dream Life - 472 Episode XII
I had finished my interview with Professor Kitley Erbain and was about to head over to the rental house where the Liddies had been contracted in the morning.
I just left Tilia School of Magic and met an unexpected person.
That was Piers Worgman, former president of the council of the Sorcerer’s Guild.
Worgman had just brought in a young man who looked like a secretary and walked in the gate.
“It’s something I could meet a rare person unexpectedly,” he said with a full grin and offered his right hand.
“We’re out of time, Wargman adviser”
Worgman bravely defeated the president of the council, or guild chief, and is now serving as a council adviser.
The guild’s council consists of eight councillors and three advisors, and the chairman is elected from the councillors. The advisor had been elected from experience in the chair and Worgman had been an advisor after completing the term of office of the councillor.
It is not that he has no real rights when it comes to advisors, he is said to be carrying out a so-called “house administration” with the current Speaker as a puppet.
“Say hello to Dr. Raspade, Mr. Lockhart.”
“Yeah, because I wanted to talk to you about developing demon props.”
I didn’t dare tell him that I wasn’t going to hide anything from Mr. Kitley, but I wasn’t even talking about being aggressive.
“Develop demonic props? With that said, my teacher praised me. Your paper is the best research in the last hundred years. [M] I’ve never seen a teacher praise so much.”
“It’s an honor. Then this is it,” he said, trying to walk away.
“Sure, stand-up is impeccable, but it’s been a long time, so I guess I don’t have to be intrusive. Personally, I was going to do you a lot of favors.”
I guess you’re talking about the trouble with phototheism and the time we built a training institute for the blacksmith guild.
“Thank you for your help with that verse. But you can waste your busy lord’s valuable time.”
“Well, it’s no big deal, but I don’t know what’s gonna happen if I break your mood any more, so let’s end this today. But you’re in this city, right? Well, I’d like to take a moment to talk, but I was wondering if you could give me some time soon.”
“Of course I don’t mind”
“Well, let’s talk to the secretary,” he said and went inside the school building.
“You’re the same person who can’t know the bottom,” Liddy mutters, and Beatrice nods, “Not at all,” too.
“What are you talking about? Are you referring to your relationship with the Blacksmith Guild,” Sharon asked.
“I don’t know. Maybe I just want to know what’s going on in the empire, so I can’t say anything.”
Nothing much has changed in the last few years about our relationship with the Blacksmith Guild. Conversely, relations with the upper echelons of the Empire have changed dramatically since graduation.
Especially the relationship with the current Chancellor, Duke Alexis Ezzarington, would be a matter of endless interest even as a magician’s guild.
“I just wanted to ask you something, too, as I am. Well, I wasn’t willing to make aggressive contact.”
We go through the Old Town with that talk and enter the New Town.
It’s a rented house from the realtor’s McCloud Chamber of Commerce, but it’s about a five-minute walk from the main entrance to the old town, with a two-story detached house and a small garden.
The house seemed to have been cleaned by the employees of the Chamber of Commerce, ready to live even soon.
There was also a note on the table that said, “You don’t care how you modify it, you don’t need to restore it in its original form,” even with the signature of Douglas McCloud, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.
Perhaps, but I was thinking the same thing this time because in the house I used to rent I was selling what I would call a proof that I lived in.
We have all the furniture, etc., but I just couldn’t even cook it, so I rolled it out straight to the tavern. I went to a destination store near Adventurer’s Guild and made a lot of noise when I found my nostalgic face.
The next day, after showing his face to Dr. Raspade’s lab, he talked to Mr. Kitley and kept doing his research at the Great Library.
Liddy and Sharon are with us today, and Beatrice and Mel don’t like going to the tough college, going to the Adventurer Guild training ground.
In the end, I didn’t go to Wargman’s today, I just kept him in contact with the informant Cy Furman.
First of all, I got the information from the rhinos, because I wanted to know what Worgman was after.
Rhinoceros and I have been in touch with each other by letter even since we graduated from college. Doctus is an easy city to gather information and, coupled with his ability to gather information, is well helped.
When I met him at a tavern in the old town, Rhino had already arrived and greeted him with a smile as he dragged his injured right leg. He was also in his mid-forties and now Pierce Rock has emerged as a compiler of intelligence stores.
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen you in person.”
“Right. It’s always helpful.”
“Whoa, how long are you gonna talk to me with respect? You are the son of Viscount Imperial. Plus, I’m a second-degree adventurer. Talk to me with your balls.”
I was only a ten year old student at the time I met him and it was normal to use respectful language. I can’t get the old feeling out of it.
“We’ve been dating for a long time… well, if it’s hard to talk, I’ll let you talk normally”
“Do that. No, I told the kids from the village that I wanted to see you when I told them about you.”
Over the past few years, children from the village of Rasmore have been studying in Doctus. This is one of the policies that my father is actively pursuing, completing outstanding grades in village schools and spending more money studying abroad on motivated children who wish to do so themselves.
Exactly few are talented magicians and none have enrolled in the Tilia School of Magic, but have enrolled in a prestigious private school and completed top notch grades.
There is also that policy, which now involves three or four people studying abroad a year and about fifteen people living in Doctus.
Now that it’s summer vacation, those studying abroad are back in the village, but those who are after this year’s enrollment were in the city before us for the exams.
Guy escorted us until we got the results of the exam, but now we’re doing it a little differently.
My servants will be in charge of escorting me on the road from the village to here, but after the exam process, I have entrusted Rhinoceros with handling it.
The reason is that a person named Cy deserves credit and has a certain influence in the old town of Doctus. Although our squire only stands up for his martial arts arm, he doesn’t live in the city, so there’s a reason why he can’t handle it when he’s in trouble.
He has a certain influence in the Old Town because he is the unofficial Blaine of former Worgman Speaker. No one in this city tries to defy Worgman, and no one tries to sell fights to the Lockhart family, so if he knows he’s the back shield, the kid alone can make sure he’s safe.
“I’ll show my face tomorrow, too. With that said, you had a kid who took the Tilia School of Magic this year. I think I said Nick.”
“Exactly. That’s right, you’re from the village of Lasmore. He said the written exam was almost perfect. It must have been a real move the day after tomorrow.”
Nick was the second son of village healer Jeffrey, who was allowed to take the exam by offering to his father to study at the college instead of training under his parents.
I had met him when he left at the end of June, at which time he was already at a high level for Level 15 and 12-year-old boys, as well as taking part in the training of vigilantes who were serious in character and exempt from the healers.
The arm of swordsmanship is still beyond level ten, but from the public’s point of view, it’s high enough for the year.
“I didn’t coach you directly, but you can use offensive magic there, so you’re sure to pass.”
Even then, you can use inductive magic, so you’ll definitely pass at the top.
“The others are going to monopolize the top in private school. In time, someone will come out to study in the village of Rasmore. Kukukuku……”
I’m laughing and saying it, probably because I imagined that the children of the peripheral countryside were better than the sons of the nobles who were supposed to have excellent tutors, and that the nobles, their parents, would regret it.
After all that public talk, get down to business.
“I need to ask you for a few things. Of course, apart from the job you’re asking for right now”
“I’ll keep it cheap if you ask me.”
“Can I say that without asking what it is?
“There’s no way you’re going to do me an unscrupulous favor. On the other hand, I’m so excited to hear what kind of funny stories you brought me.”
My personality seems promising in relation to the past.
“There are two favors. No, three. All of which I’d like to ask you to gather information.”
“Gathering information? So, what’s it about?
“The first, but I want to know what’s going on with Aurelia. I still have the commercial guild trend looked into, but this time I want to know if there’s any trouble with maritime transport or if there’s a reliable shipping company.”
“Maritime transport? You’re gonna use your boat to get somewhere?
“Oh, I haven’t decided yet,” clouds the words. Because I don’t intend to keep it a secret, but it’s also true that I haven’t decided yet.
But the rhino said, “But are you going to head to Jilsor?,” he says.
When I’m surprised,
“Professor Erbain, I was gathering information about Jilsol in a tangle. Looks like I got a face at the professor’s, too, and I just thought maybe.”
Sometimes I’m just dealing with information, and I let it analyze perfectly from less information.
“Which means you should also look into Luke’s port trends.”
“So I’d like to ask you. I have something to do with that Luke, and I want you to find out more about Light God.”
“Light God? ‘Cause we’re landing at Luke’s?
“No, I’m wondering if factional strife has intensified inside the Light Theocracy. Anything called hardliners is out of the country, isn’t it? If the officials of the Holy King’s Palace are rewinding, we need to know about it.”
“Got it. I do listen to that. So, what’s the third?
“I’m talking about the former Speaker of Worgman. I just met him at the College Gate. It’s hard to think of a coincidence as a coincidence only for that Mistress. I want that tip on what you’re thinking”
“I see. But don’t expect too much from me about this. I think I know why.”
All he’s trying to say is that Worgman is also his employer. I’m telling you implicitly that I can’t give you anything that hits inside information.
“The deadline expires next month for now. I might ask for extra after that.”
“Got it. If there’s anything else that might be interesting, I’ll make sure it flows.”
That’s what I said and broke up with Sai.
The next day, he met with students from the village of Rasmore for a spectacular meeting. They are all familiar with each other and offer simple advice.
Nick, who takes the Tilia School of Magic in particular, needs to take a practical exam, so much so that he has asked “what should I do” with a serious look on his face.
There was no one to enroll after me and Sharon, and since we were grades of chief and second seat, there seems to be extra pressure on us.
“You just have to feel free,” but it says on your face that you want some more specific advice.
“If you get nervous, remember to train the vigilante. The examiner is so sweet compared to your uncle and Walt. All you have to do is type in as much magic as you want.”
He said to my advice, “Yes!” I answered aloud.
“Just remember one more thing,” Sharon starts advising.
“I always use the magic that I can direct. If possible, if you can shoot in a second magic while moving it flashy, you’re sure to be within five. That’s about it.”
“Yes, I’m fine! Zach taught me that” Ice Sparrow can serve up to three!
Isicle Sparrow is the water attribute version of the Magic Swallow Wing Blade (Swallow Cutter). The original magic is the Ice Column needle (Isicle Needle), so instead of chopping it up like a swallow cutter, it’s the magic that pierces it and does damage.
His level is fifteen, but the same is true when Sharon takes the exam, so if he can get more than one induction type out, it will also be possible to target the chief.
Me and Sharon’s advice made me feel better, and my boyish cheerfulness was back.
Other children take private school exams teaching politics and economics.
Although many regular students are fifteen years of age or older with content alone, their academic qualifications have not even reached the Japanese primary school graduation level due to the low level of education in this world.
Students in our village are twelve or three years old, but they won’t take a pull.
Later, while attending the lab of Dr. Raspade and Mr. Kitley, he himself looked into the gods in the Great Library.
I didn’t think it would be easy to find Mr. Kitley, a professional on that path, because he couldn’t, but there was still little progress.
Sometimes he enjoyed a relatively free time while relieving stress by going into the woods, hunting demons, etc.
