Dream Life - 478 Episode XVIII
Twenty-two days after sailing, the voyage went well.
The Leard Selby, a merchant ship belonging to the Deodard Chamber of Commerce, is now heading south on the sea west of the continent of Tria, the Vest Sea.
Sailing in this world is always dangerous, even when it comes to doing well.
Even on this voyage, shortly after entering the Vest Sea, it was attacked by fierce timing, and for two whole days, it was stormed. I’m afraid I’ll sink with the ship like this then.
After the storm passed, I asked Captain Aldas Duncan, but he wasn’t in such a critical situation. But it was such an intense experience that even Professor Kitty Erbain, who was used to traveling, blued in terror as well as us on the sailboat for the first time.
In fact, I tried to get out on the upper deck (upper deck) after the storm, but a few shrunk sails were torn, plus some cracks in the hull.
The captain has told me that the sailors provided first aid and that there was no obstacle to subsequent voyages, but that repairs would be needed at Portsmere, the next port of call.
“The carpenter said it would take about three days to repair it. It is within the Holy King, so I was wondering if you would be at liberty…”
“Troubles come with the journey. Never mind.”
You will stay in the port for five days, but even if you stay on the ship, it will only stand in the way of repairs and you will have to enter the town. As the captain said, Luke, you’re going into the territory of the Holy King, and I’m worried about trouble.
“Fortunately, the port district does business with sailors, so it’s safe as long as you’re nearby. But be very careful when you leave the harbor, because the priests of the Light Divinity are giving you a wide margin.”
“Even for me, I don’t want to cause any trouble in vain, so I’m going to be making a big deal out of you in the harbor. Besides, as far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing to see.”
Portsmere is a port town where large ships can enter, but there is nothing to see in the Holy Kingdom, famous for its poverty. He also hears that there are only enough specialty dishes to be called specialty dishes and simple ones with seafood, and that there is nothing decent about alcohol, other than wine for priests.
Land was seen after noon and walked into the harbor around 3pm. Dozens of sail columns (masts) of large ships are forested, giving the impression of a dead tree forest.
As we approached, there were more than ten large ships connected as the Selby, and there were sailors on the ship who seemed busy moving around. They’re repairing the area damaged by the storm, just like the Selby.
Looking at the ship from the deck, Captain Duncan approached with a serious look on his face.
“That fleet has the flag of the Holy Knights flying. I don’t know the details, but we have confirmed that there are twenty ships in all. I know you’re going to carry troops that will be dispatched somewhere, but you’d better land together.”
When the captain told me to look at the nearby ship, there was a sealed flag with three swords crossed on the kite-shaped shield (kite-shield). The Phototheistic symbol was crossed by three sticks, and they mimic it.
“Are you a Saints ship…… do you have any idea?
The Holy Knights, as their name suggests, are an army made up of knights, or cavalry. In the Middle Ages of the Earth, the Knights had maritime power, but never heard of it in this world.
“The Saints will only use the ship if they send troops to the countries of the North. Perhaps they’re trying to send troops when they hear about a demonic raid in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Lax.”
“Are we talking about the raid by Auga, which was the periphery of the Kingdom of Lax? It was five months ago. I hear you solved that, and what more are you going to do now?
“I don’t know what Holy Kingdoms and Light Divinity think,” said Captain Duncan bitterly to my question.
“Aren’t you trying to be thankful,” Sharon added to the story.
“If the timing was so off, I wouldn’t owe you anything,” Mel said.
“You remember the story of a Bishop of the Light Divinity rumbling in the Kingdom of Lax. So I suppose you’re sending in the Holy Knight to give me a little heart test. Of course, Lax would appreciate it.”
What Sharon is saying will be true.
Phototheism is a state of war. The Kaelm Empire has originally been eliminated in the Kingdom of Kaum as well. Even more scandalous in the Kingdom of Lax in this situation. For this reason, I have heard that there are also stories in the Kingdom of Lax that light theism should be excluded.
The Kingdom of Lax is at war with the Caerm Empire. There is now a truce, but as the Holy King of Lukes, it is important in that maintaining relations with the Kingdom of Lax is a restraint on the Empire. For this reason, it is not surprising that we would like to give the Kingdom of Lax a good heart certificate.
Though I do not believe that sending a holy knight like a chunk of privileged consciousness is the best way.
“We’re making an adult out of it until the fleet leaves. I hope so, but could you please gather information about the Holy Knights?”
“We are happy to help. Instead, we’re also interested in where and what the Saints are going to do.”
An unexpected incident prevented me from landing in an exotic land.
The next day, Captain Duncan landed the Comptroller General, James Sullivan, to gather information along with supplies. The result was to be heard before dinner.
“The destination was the Kingdom of Lax, as expected. Looks like we’re heading east after landing in Aurella…… forming a hundred saint knights and two hundred infantry, but the infantry was not a regular soldier, but a conscripted peasant…… Captain is Captain Maximilian Paredes Battalion. You’re also going to preach. You seem to be accompanying the clergy. Captain Paredes and the priests were magnificent, and the Inn employees were blurred that they couldn’t do it…”
In the name of finding our passenger accommodation, Sullivan gathered information directly at the Inn where the Saints stayed.
“… They say the departure is tomorrow morning, so I think we can roll it out to the port district if the fleet leaves…”
I’ve been listening to that, but I realize it’s a little noisy out there.
Sullivan said “excuse me” and went to see what was going on outside.
He came back in about five minutes, but he had an indescribable look on his face.
“The Bishop of the Light Divinity has boarded the ship, calling it a tribute visit. Apparently, he came carelessly, knowing it was the ship of the Deoddard Chamber of Commerce.”
The Deodard Chamber of Commerce has a good relationship with ostensibly light theism. It is a famous story that previous chamber of commerce president Loris Deoddard went to the Holy City of Paxlumen to make a large donation. So, they came to shake up the money.
“The captain is handling it, but he also seems to be interested in the customers”
He thinks he’s rich because he’s a first-class cabin guest, and he’s thinking of taking money from us, too.
“There’s no way I’m going to see you, so in the worst case scenario, you’re going to have to deal with Mr. Kitley,”
That’s what I see Mr. Kitley.
“Zach, I know what you’re trying to say, but I don’t want to see you if I can. Well, if you find out about a line of researchers and their assistants, you’re gonna lose interest.”
In the end, Mr. Kitley was supposed to respond, but he never seemed to be more interested, and we didn’t need to meet.
Mr. Kitley is back, but he gives a grumpy look and sighs heavily.
“Ha… I hate those people the most. It’s magnificent, and I don’t hear a word about this one. You look at your body with an unpleasant gaze…”
That being said, it just seemed to hold on to gathering information.
“As Mr. Sullivan told me, the destination was Lax. However, I know the disturbance in Lax is over, so it seems like you’re going to try to get close and head there once the Demons show up. There’s no plan, there’s nothing going on. It was just a sample.”
Looks like you’re no longer interested in us for now. If they leave the port tomorrow morning, it won’t be a problem.
The following day, on the 26th of October, the saints’ boat left.
“Now you can get off the ship,” Beatrice says, stretching out a lot.
When you are ready to land, you will descend the talap hung on the gangway. I felt my body flutter because I hadn’t stood on the hard ground in a long time.
We grabbed our bags and headed to the inn we were taught.
Finally the troublemaker leaves and sees the harbour district in a tourist mood because of his footing on an exotic land. This wasn’t as good as Aurelia, but it was a vibrant port town.
When you find travelers like us, you say, “It’s the only craft in the Holy Kingdom.” How about a souvenir “or” I have a fish soup of Portsmere specialty “.
“You’re more lively than I thought,” Liddy says, and Mr. Kitley, who should be used to traveling, nods at it.
“I’ve never seen the Holy Kingdom before, but it feels more prosperous than I heard. And the people who live there don’t feel dark either.”
“I thought I could see it with weirder eyes, too,” Beatrice joins the story.
Phototheism is a doctrine that can be described as the supremacy of mankind, and beasts in particular are subject to discrimination as inferior races. But even when I saw Beatrice, the open-air merchants had no special reaction, treating us as normal.
The Inn is also introduced to the finest places in the harbour district. Thirty kronas per person per night, about 30,000 yen in Japanese yen, but I can afford it financially, and it’s cheap considering the security.
In the meantime, after checking in, we’ll discuss our actions here.
“I’m about to, but given what’s ahead, I think we should do some gathering of information. Basically, of course, I’m not leaving the harbor district.”
“Right. I want you to give me a break for having things like this again and again.”
Liddy agrees, but Sharon disagrees, “Shouldn’t it be less conspicuous?”
“You and Lydia stand out. Me and what if I say that,” and Beatrice doesn’t seem very motivated either.
So Mr. Kitley said, “I’m coming,”
“Mel and Sharon’s three of us will gather information. You wouldn’t be noticeable if you decided to be a young assistant at the college. Enjoy sightseeing nearby.”
“Right. Let me do that,” said Liddy, “that’s fine with me,” and Beatrice agrees.
I’m worried about the trouble, but it’s basically a safe place, and Mel, of course, can handle it without having to use magic if Mr. Kitley and Sharon are about as chimpy around there.
In the end, Mr. Kitley was to visit a branch of a major chamber of commerce in the port district in the name of gathering information for research.
Me and Liddy and Beatrice basically just hang out near the inn with distractions.
I went out for a walk only once that day but there was nothing to see, and in the end, I spent a drink with Liddy and the others in the inn room.
Around 5 p.m., Mel and the others, who had finished collecting information, returned. Ask for results while eating dinner.
“The Holy King seems to be thinking of a massive war,” Sharon began talking.
“On that basis, they’re carrying more food to the Holy Capital than ever before. It doesn’t seem that the area around the Sacred Capital is inactive, and the merchants are rumouring that it’s not ready for war, either. They don’t hear much here, but in many places, the priests are giving speeches saying,” God’s use will appear and destroy the empire ”…”
Looks like he decided the war was close from his speech on securing food and boosting war.
“So it’s dangerous for us to go near the Holy Capital.”
“The next stop is Abergele, but the ship to the east looks like it could be examined pretty hard”
Abergele is located on the eastern side of the Sole Peninsula and flourishes as a relay point in the Austrelian Sea as one of the few ports from which large ships can enter. It is the second largest city after Paxlumen, and there are a number of phototheistic establishments.
“I have to talk to Captain Duncan, but he’s not going into Abergele, and looks like he should head to Gartbrek on Finnish Island”
Finis Island is an isolated island in the middle of the Austrelian Sea. Since it is an imperial territory and the Gartbrek, where the harbour is located, is an important relay port to the Empire, it is under the direct jurisdiction of the Emperor.
It is about a thousand and five hundred kilometers from Portsmere here, and can be worn in just over twenty days on a standard voyage. Apparently ships to the Empire are not Abergele to avoid trouble, but often go through Gartbrek.
“Other information, there seems to be more Peliplus Private Looters (Privates) than usual…”
Private looters are state-approved pirates who are getting a license from the King and others. Periples and Aurelia are in fierce contention over maritime hegemony, with private looters from both sides attacking each other’s merchant ships.
“Private looting… I’ll have to leave this to the captain”
“Right. I’m just curious to hear that they’re shooting ships for the Empire.”
“Sniping? You mean you’re after a ship that’s not headed to Abergele? So maybe the Holy Kingdom has a covenant with Periplus”
The next day, communicating the results of the intelligence-gathering to Captain Duncan, First Class Bad Ramsey Voyagers, they had the same information.
“I was also going to suggest from here that we would like to change our next replenishment to Gartbrek”
I accepted the policy because there was no difference between me.
The next day, he left Portsmere without any particular major trouble.
