- Chapter 28:The Dungeon Lord's goblin got shot.
I approached the glowing crops with a confused face.
“What the heck!? Turnips glowing? Did they get infected by some strange disease??”
It was not only the flowers that were glowing, the greens and root were also doing the same thing.
It was like they started emanating some light aura from within, turning into natural lamps. The effects were not much visible because of The Sun, but if I turned it off, I bet it would illuminate the area around itself as much as a small candle would.
Hearing my question, Blue, who was on my shoulder, answered me.
“Of course not, Master! These are Turpins, not Turnips! They are magic crops! All magic crops glow when they are ready for harvest!”
I felt my pride hurt a bit as the little baby spirit on my side seems to know more than me, a full grown adult. Maybe due to that I let an angry tone escape my voice.
“What? But I asked for turnips when I summoned it! Can I even eat this thing?”
It was then that Ruyk appeared from behind me as swift as the wind and grabs a whole turnip, I mean, turpin, throwing it all on his mouth and swallowing it without a single bite.
“Hmm! Delicious! Don’t worry Master! Ruyk will make sure that each one of them is not poisonous with Ruyk’s own stomach!”
While I was honestly impressed by the speed the little guy could eat, I didn’t let that stun me and started taking action.
Bang!
My fist pounds Ruyk’s head, making him drop the second Turpin he was just about to put inside his mouth.
“Stop! Eat slowly! Chew it 50 times before swallowing! There is no problem if you eat a few but if you eat too many there will be none left for the other ones I plan to summon later! Then, not only they but you also will have to go hungry until new ones are harvested again!”
T_T
Ruyk makes a sad face and starts to slowly eat the turpin, starting from the leafs.
“Ok, we don’t need too many, let’s harvest half and leave half to extract the seeds later.”
As I dig out the turpin and pull it by its leafs, the glowing aura suddenly explodes, dissolving in the air. I put my hand on the back of my head, scratching it…
“Was this…all right?”
Blue comes to my rescue again.
“No problem, that’s what’s supposed to happen. Don’t worry Master!”
Nodding, I continue doing the labor until only ten are left.
“This should be enough, now I just need to wait it produce seeds and collect them for the next harvest. Luckily turnips can self-fertilize, or else I would need to summon some bees to do the job…”
…
“Wait, these are turpins, not turnips. Can they also do self-fertilizing??”
This time Blue seemed just as confused as me…
“Sigh… in a few days I will find out…”
Well, we will find out sooner or later, so there was no need to worry.
Going to the Storage room, I make some stone boxes using building mode and store the recently harvested turpins inside them, and just as I was finishing, I heard Ruyk signature scream coming from the farming camp.
“Master! Heeeeelp!”
Closing last the box calmly, I wonder what the goblin did this time. With everything here done, I walk toward the source of the scream and just as I enter the room, I see Ruyk being pierced by an arrow. Tracing the arrow back to it’s source I see 6 hunters aiming at the goblin again.
“Nooooo!!!”
“What the heck, not only you enter without been invited and attack my subordinate, but you are also thinking of attacking me!?”
Infuriated by the invader’s actions, I start casting the Fireball spell aiming at them.
They release their arrows, but the arrows simply bounce into my armor. It was then that they noticed I was not an easy target and decided to run away. But how could I let them run away freely after doing all this mess and not paying for it.
I concentrated my Mana on the fireball circle, a lot more Mana than the spell required, normally it would simply end up blowing in my hand but I somehow instinctively was able to keep it under control, then as I finished charging it, I shot it with all my might.
The fireball traveled in a straight line, hitting the hunter who was in the middle of the group. As the fireball hit the target, the overloaded Mana exploded, resulting in a 5 meters explosion. I don’t dare to say what happen to the one hit, as for the other hunters, they were thrown away by the explosion, hitting the walls and rolling on the ground. If this was bowling, I had done a Strike.
As I prepared myself to go finish them I heard the weak voice of Ruyk calling me. This felt like a bucket of cold water cooling my head instantly. Ignoring the invaders, I ran to Ruyk’s rescue.
“Don’t worry little fellow. Everything will be all right!”
