- Chapter 30:The Dungeon Lord steps out of the cave.
As Teleport is finished, I appear in front of the first floor stairs.
“First let’s check the Water Sprites…”
This week I was so focused on my magic training that I completely forgot them, that’s why I feel a bit guilty as I remember them only now.
After a few minutes climbing the tower, I reach the top where The Sun was shinning. I looked at the eggs in the corner and sure enough they had fried nicely….
Sorry, that was a joke.
Actually, they had being born safely. But for some reason they refused to exit their shells…it must be The Sun!
I approached the eggs and did the same I did with Blue, covered my finger with Mana and allowed them to eat it. They shyly approached my finger and started eating the Mana.
“Great!”
I smiled.
“Little ones, you got a name?”
Both shake their head.
“Hmm…then I will call you Aqua, and you Marine. Nice to meet you.”
Both smiled and started circling me while yelling “Aqua!” “Marine!” several times.
“It’s great that you like it.” ^_^
“Well, both of you can play around the plants over there, I have some work to do…”
They nodded and went to play hide and seek between the turpin flowers.
After leaving the tower, I grab my War Hammer, check my armor, take a deep breath and proceed to the exit.
I see the huge rock has vanished and in it’s place hundreds of small pieces of talisman paper as scattered on the ground.
I ignore them and keep on proceeding, reaching a large hall full of odd sculptures, pillars and skeleton bones on the floor. I take my time to do some investigation.
By analyzing the sculptures it seems like this was an chapel made in honor of the God of Death, but there is something odd about it…
Oh! I know! There is no sacrifice chamber, nor treasure chamber…
Odd, if my memory is right, they should be around here…
I start touching the wall and suddenly found a loose tile.
Hmm, it seems like this one is still intact! How lucky!
I push the tile and part of the wall starts sinking on the ground revealing a corridor toward the sacrifice chamber.
“Sacrifice chamber found! Next should be the Treasure chamber!”
The treasure chamber was always located behind the sacrifice chamber, it was their way to say all sacrifice will be rewarded, and by leaving the treasures close to the sacrifice chamber, part of the energy extracted from sacrifices would sink into the treasures, strengthening them and cursing them at the same time.
Taking half a step inside the sacrifice chamber, I look around but aside from the broken bones on the floor, it is completely clean…
Another odd point. In such places there should be a ton of Undeads! They would protect not only this chamber but the one behind it…
But it seems like all the undeads were taken care of…
This doesn’t seem like the work of those hunters, no matter how weak those undead were, they would still be a lot stronger than common hunters, and I doubt they would know how to close the entrance…
And looking at all this broken bones, it seems like whoever did the job used some blunt weapon…
Then they must have had help from outside, maybe adventurers or some lord’s knight… no it still doesn’t make any sense…
Time to check the treasure chamber.
“It should be…right…HERE!”
The wall goes down and a new passage is open leading to a new circular room.
In the center of the room the statue of the God of Death was standing, perfectly intact, carrying a ruby skull which emanated light illuminating to the whole room. Below it, on the platform below the statue, there was a God of Death’s bible, also known as Necromancy bible, because it had an incredible array of necromancy spells inside.
Surrounding the statue all kinds of treasures could be found: armors, swords, statues, gold, gems, accessories, magic scrolls, books and many MANY creature skeletons.
If all these skeletons were to rise, they could trample an army or two…scary…
This really really really doesn’t make sense! If someone went so far as destroying all guardians, why didn’t they take the treasures??? Sure, most of those are cursed, but if you take it to any light priest, most of those curses can be easily dispelled. Why would anyone in their right mind leave all this behind like this??
Maybe whoever sealed my Dungeon was too rich to care about these… T_T
Well, there is no proof that whoever defeated these was also responsible for sealing my dungeon, maybe both are completely unrelated.
Talking about the seal, I wonder how did it break…
Did the hunters came because the seal was broken, or did the seal break because they came? Hmm…
All this made me feel like I was back to my old life, going from ruin to ruin trying to find out their secrets. It was a great life, it’s a pity that it ended…wait, how did it end again???
.
..
…
Nothing…
I can’t remember…
Why?? I can remember my youth even better than when I was alive, but the closer my memories get to my adulthood, the foggier they appear…
Well, for now it doesn’t matter. Let’s take a look outside.
Pulling back the first loose tile, the wall rises again, looking as if it had never moved before.
I turn around and leave through the only corridor I hadn’t explored before.
…
As I step out of the cave, I see the Sun going down on the horizon.
I take my time to appreciate it’s beauty and soon it was already night.
“Hmm.. I had even forgotten how beautiful the sunset was.”
I take a look around…
Forest, Forest and more Forest…
Damn… it seems like I will have to wait until tomorrow, it’s impossible to find any tracks like this…
Maybe I should build a watch post here…
“Building mode!”
I activate Mana Sight and wait for the building mode to activate…
.
..
…
Where is it? How come it doesn’t reach here??? This makes no sense!!!
“Sigh…Well, let’s go back inside…It has been a long day, I should sleep a bit to organize my head…tomorrow I will come again…”
Talking to myself, I walk back inside…
