- Chapter 39:The Dungeon Lord strikes back.
I looked at the two unconscious people in front of me and can’t help but scold myself mentally for going too far.
It was not my intention to make them faint, I just wanted to hear them scream once before laughing of their reaction and explaining it was all a joke.
Damn! How could I guess that the girl who let out such a beautiful scream on the first time she met me would rather faint than scream again…
Maybe my tactic was wrong, instead of slowly building up tension, I should just have used the element of surprise directly, like asking Blue act like a ghost and blow cold air in the back of their necks or move something and make some noise…
My sadist side kept making excuses while my virtuous side just kept staring at me with blaming eyes.
It’s too late now. T_T
The game is over and I should prepare myself for some scolding when they get up ;p
Well, for now, let’s take them out of here…
Hmm… Should I pile them up and carry both at the same time?
No, this feels odd. Maybe I should carry one at a time…
Ok, let’s start with Bia, she is smaller so it should be faster.
I approached Bia’s side and slowly lifted her up using the famous Princess carry technique.
I took a look back at Leticia and mentally said “I will be right back”.
Then I proceeded toward the large hall.
.
..
…
!?
I saw someone covered in blood with a knife in hand and bow and arrows on his back checking my, well, not exactly mine, but, anyway, the wheelbarrow. As fast as I see him, I step back silently to ensure I remain undiscovered.
Who the heck is that guy!?
Looking by the bloody shirt he seems like some kind of psycho…
It’s better if I hide the girls before facing him. If the guy is as crazy as he seems the girls will be in danger if he sees them, even more now that they are unconscious.
Walking back step by step while watching the exit I suddenly slip in some loose bone that was left on the way. As I fall I do my best to ensure Bia’s safety hugging her with both arms.
Puff….
The fall ends with good and bad news. The good news are Bia wasn’t hurt and I didn’t make much noise. The bad news is that my body fell on top of a broken bone, making a painful cut on my back. Since it was on my back, I had no way to know how deep the cut was, and honestly I had no time to be worrying about that now.
I got up as fast as I could and, whole making sure I didn’t make any other noise, I came back to the sacrifice chamber where I pushed the loose tile to open the treasure chamber.
I hurried back to Bia and after picking her up, I carried her to the Treasure chamber, finally leaving her alongside the treasures stored there.
Then, as I went back to the sacrifice chamber, I heard the voice of people talking out loud in the large hall.
T_T
It seems the psycho is not alone. I need to finish this fast!
I lifted Leticia in a princess carry and took her to the treasure chamber as well, carefully putting her on Bia’s side.
OK, both should be safe here…
Now, what should I do?
Come on! Think! Think!
Oh yeah, where is my War Hammer?? Did I left it in the village??
I looked around the treasure room and saw a pile of weapons.
Great time to be losing my weapon…well, I will have to make do with what we have here…
I turn on Mana Sight and take a look at the weapons.
Damn, it seems like all of them are cursed…
Let’s see… this one and this one seem to be the less affected ones…
I hastily grab the mace and the sword from the pile of weapons.
The moment I grab the mace, I feel a boost of strength and start hearing voices in my head shouting “Kill! Kill! Kill!”.
As for the sword, I feel spikes entering my skin, my hand becomes bloody and the sword start dripping my own blood.
T_T
As expected of cursed weapons. But at least these curses should not be too hard to deal later…
The sounds coming from the hall stopped, it seems like they have decided to move…
With the two weapons in hand, I walk out of the treasure chamber, meeting them in the sacrifice chamber, the perfect place for a fight to the death…. hehehe… T_T this is not funny!
I see, so there are two people…no, three, there is a third hidden in the exit…
They seem like a party of raiders…
The bloody skinny one seems like the scout or thief, the big one carrying an ax is surely the warrior, but I have no idea what the third one is, there is no mana so he shouldn’t be a mage, but he is also not equipped with any weapon…maybe a monk??
Let’s try to talk calmly to see if we can negotiate somehow.
I slowly stepped to the side and said in a cordial voice.
“Welcome gentlemen! May I ask what business both of you have in this one’s humble house?”
The big guy, I don’t know why, took my speech as an insult and charged toward me.
“You!!!!!! Monster!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Monster? What is he-
I use both the sword and mace to parry the ax coming toward me, but his momentum is too big and I end up being thrown back toward the wall.
Bang!
My back hits the wall, pain scream through all my body, the small wound on my back seem to expand to twice it’s initial size and the weapons fall of my hand.
Fuck! If I don’t take this seriously I will lose my life!
The big guy doesn’t stop and attacks again aiming for my head.
I roll to right the side avoiding the attack but he chases me restlessly attacking again and again.
Having lost my weapons all I can do is dodge with all my might. Once, twice, three times…
Like hell this is a warrior, this is a fucking berserker!
Damn! Is this guy never going to stop!? Living people should need to breath, right??
I try throwing some bones at him, but he doesn’t even blink.
Damn, I bet this is the kind of guy that even if he received a mortal wound he would keep fighting until his last breath!
Not losing any second, he doesn’t even leave me time to recover my balance and attack again. I jump back, making some distance, but in less than a second he covers this distance and is already at melee range again.
I need to do something fast or I will fall. Fall? That’s it!
Taking a side step while dodging the incoming strike, I pass my leg behind him and and hit his head in a fast counter with my elbow. The elbow strike makes his center of balance shift to the back and my leg finishes the job throwing him down to the ground. Taking advantage of the second of disorientation from falling down I hit him again with my knee right on his face making him lose conscience.
Sigh, one down. Luckily the other didn’t attack together or the one on the ground would be me.
I look at the scout/thief guy see him unconscious half fallen half leaning against the wall… What the heck? Did this happen when that berserker charged through him?? And the third guy disappeared as well… Did he going back to gather reinforces?
If so, it’s better if I get out of here fast. At least in the Dungeon I will be able to use the walls in my favor…
I grab back the cursed weapons, since it’s not good to let them laying around over here, then I go back to check the berserker’s body.
I just put my hand in his neck, to check his carotid pulse and see if he is alive, when I hear a scream.
“Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Now, that’s the one I wanted to hear! ;p
I see Leticia pale face at the entrance of the treasure chamber.
“Don’t worry I am OK, it’s just-”
“Get out of the way!”
Not letting me finish, Leticia pushes me aside and check the berserker’s body.
“Josh, are you stupid!? What are you doing here!?”
Of course he doesn’t answer.
Right after Leticia, Bia slowly walks out as well and…
“Jack!?”
Runs to the bloody fellow by the door.
“Don’t worry, they is just un-”
“YOU! SHUT UP!”
“Yes, Ma’am!”
“NOW! STANDING BY THE WALL!”
“Yes, Ma’am!”
Sigh…. T_T
