- Chapter 74:The Dungeon Lord was ropeless.
Considering it was already morning, I decided to take a look at the farm thinking that maybe the tomatoes could already be harvested. So I used teleport to reach the first floor and just as I headed to the farming camp I met Geo accompanied by a group of Guards. They seemed to have being waiting for me.
“Good Morning Mr. Plate! We are all set to continue our journey, please open the passage to us.”
“Oh! I see, no problem! Let’s go!”
I accompanied them outside and as we passed through the fields I took a sneak look at the Tomatoes and….so close! They were all over the place but completely green with only a tint of red.
Well, considering how fast they mature, maybe by the evening it will be enough… or maybe I should just collect them while they are green so they can last longer…. no there are too many people here, there is no need to make them last longer, actually it would be a challenge to make so…
“All right, here we are…. Maybe I should add some hidden passage to allow people out more easily… Oh! I got an idea!”
Saying so, instead of making a straight tunnel to the entrance, I made the tunnel go up, reaching the entrance ceiling.
“Mr. Plate? What are you doing?”
“One second and you will know…”
After reaching the entrance’s ceiling I made a trap door leading to the entrance and my plan was complete.
“See? This way you can go out easily without my help, and I doubt the enemy will notice this because of all the rocks in the ceiling.”
“I see… You are right, this will solve the problem of getting out, but what about getting in?”
“Just ask the skeletons at the entrance to lower a rope to you. They should be strong enough to lift any adult without a problem.”
“All right! Thanks for everything Mr. Plate! The Brightstar Kingdom won’t forget your generous help. Please take care of our Second Princess while we are away.”
“Don’t worry, she will be perfectly safe here. Have a safe trip!”
After saying our farewells Geo and co. jumped through the trapdoor and exited the cave while I closed the trapdoor and decided to look for Stone to inform him of the new passage.
…
“Hello Stone, good morning!”
“Yo Plate, what’s up?”
“Came with me, I got something to show you…”
“Right, lead the way.”
We got out of the new refugees camp, passed through the farm and after a few minutes we arrived at the trapdoor.
“This is what I wanted to show you, the new exit I made.”
“This trapdoor? Oh! I see! Pretty nice!”
“And to go back, you just need to ask the skeletons at the entrance to pull you up with a rope.”
“Those thin bones? Will they have enough strength?”
Just as I was going to reply “yes, no doubt about that!” I saw Stone right in front of me with his enormous build, making me lose my confidence…
“Should have… They are stronger than a common man… Do you want to test out?”
“Sure! That’s why you called right?”
“Y-yeah…right…”
Actually no, it had completely slipped my mind…
“All right, first lets take a look at the rope, no matter how strong the skeletons are, if the rope is too thin it won’t matter.”
“Sure, that’s right…”
“So, where is the rope?”
….nice question… now that you reminded me, I got no rope… really, how could I forget that? I’m starting to feel hopeless now… but now, what do I answer him?…
“Plate?”
“O-oh! Yeah, the rope! I was going to ask you about that! Do you have any rope we can use?”
Sigh, if I can’t solve it, let’s just export the problem to someone else ;p
“Then you have come to the right man! From ropes to hammocks, no one can compare to us, elves!”
“T-thanks…”
“No need to act shy around us, Plate! Since we are all together, it just makes sense for us to help each other out!”
Thanks to Stone’s misunderstanding, I’m saved from some embarrassment just now. Lucky 😉
“All right, let’s do this!”
After that, we went back to the refugees camp and looked for a nice and strong rope, then I called the skeletons and we tested it out. As expected, a single skeleton was unable to lift stone. We tried with two and even though it worked, they were too slow, giving too much time for any following enemy catch up…
“Yeah, this will be a problem… Should we call another skeleton?”
“Hmm… yeah, maybe that all we can do…”
As we walked back to the farm to bring more skeletons we were intercepted by the two Rose twins followed by Alice and her dog- I mean, her bodyguard.
