Dungeon System: World Of Chaos War - Chapter 66 Suspect
Like the typical, if not all the town’s knights, they sported a full set of blue armor. At this time, they were questioning the man behind the counter, this included the owner of the Inn. Once they saw Vitiate, they got confirmation from the Inn desk guy that he lived here.
The man who handled all the customers from before had a gloomy expression on his face, but there was also a sign of relief in his face as well. “Hey, you, you’re late coming back after the curfew given due to martial law, this is a crime.” One of the guards was suspicious, he wasn’t trying to cause trouble, but he was very worried about these killings.
“I’m well aware of that, but I’m an adventurer who just came back from a mission, so I’m late getting back.” Vitiate flashed his Adventurer’s Id and the guards all calmed down knowing what he was.
“I hear you live here, you don’t mind us asking you a few questions? As you can see… ” The Knight guard pointed towards the body bag. “We have a murder case yet again, but this time we have a suspect that was seen with the victim.” Vitiate didn’t mind them asking him questions, the guards didn’t recognize him, this was probably because they were inside knights.
They continued to ask questions about yesterday and Vitiate just answered. They asked him about his day and what he may have noticed during his stay here. The man behind the counter wasn’t let off either, he was questioned and so was the owner, which was some woman.
Vitiate could see that the guards were pro-human, but they didn’t do anything about enslaved humans, which didn’t make any sense to him. He told them he had no clue how he could know anything until he saw the victim.
The guards sighed and agreed to show Vitiate the body, the man at the front desk had already seen it and he was horrified at the sight and thought of it. One of the knights unzipped the bag and reveal the body.
It was man, but his body had shriveled up, as if he had been sucked dry of all the moisture in his body! The man’s face had a smile but it was so ominous, which caused Vitiate to cringe. His eyes were wide open, which made it even creepier, any normal person would have nightmares from staring at it for so long!
“One would look at this and assumed that this was the work of a Vampire, but that would be completely wrong.” Suddenly, a man walked into the Inn, he wore a light brown trench coat with a cowboy hat.
“Detective Morris!” The Knights were surprised that the detective would come on such short notice. They expected him to appear tomorrow in the morning for this case, but he came so late at night instead.
Vitiate scanned the man by looking him up and down, he had black spots under his eyes. It was clear to Vitiate that this man lacked sleep.
“What do you mean this isn’t the work of a vampire? The last attacks were from them, so what makes this one so different?” The knights all believed this was the work of a vampire, even Vitiate was sold that this was the attacker.
“Feel the force around his body, it doesn’t feel anything like a vampire. Also, the man has a smile on his face, he seemed to have been enjoying himself from having a good experience.” Morris walked over to get a closer look at the man’s face.
“W-what? Are you saying he was mesmerized and died happy or without knowing his death was upon him!?” The man behind the counter started to sweat, he knew who the suspect was already!
“Yep! This isn’t the work of a Vampire but the work of a Succubus!”
The room went dead silent, even Vitiate was shocked! A succubus was causing trouble in town, along with Vampires!? Vitiate looked at the body again, he looked at the necklace around the man’s neck and recalled where he had seen it before.
Searching his memories, he remembered the man from yesterday, the guy that was with that beautiful woman!
The woman who was trying to tempt him at that time!
“Shit!” Vitiate said unconsciously, it was no wonder he was getting strange vibes from her, she was something like that!
“We’re under attack from all sides, we’ll have to call many adventurers to duty, I don’t like Adventurers, no offense, but they’ll get the job done if we set a mission up for the right price.” The knight lieutenant sighed, it was beyond their power to handle forces they couldn’t even detect.
“This was the man from yesterday, he was with a woman but I’m sure the clerk here already described her features. So, all you guys have to do is to be on the lookout for her, put some pics of her up around town, or at the guild.”
Vitiate could only tell them this much, he couldn’t and didn’t really want to do any more than that. Morris didn’t say anything and continued to inspect the body. They let Vitiate go, so he went back to his room to sleep, he had to wake up earlier, after all.
After taking a bath and doing his nightly routine, he went to sleep. Time quickly passed, but during the night, he could hear the knights outside surrounding the area and talking.
Finally, the morning had arrived, Vitiate a still tired but over a short period of time, it would go away. This was because of his race, his fatigue would go away after an hour or so prior to his awakening.
With no time wasted, he got up to brush his teeth and get dressed before leaving his room. Vitiate thought about the woman from before, she had attractive features but this served to lure in victims like most succubus from the fantasies did.
Afterward, he rushed downstairs to leave the Inn, there was no doubt that the murder case from yesterday would affect this Inn’s business. There was a different person behind the counter this time, it was an old man who remained as still as a statue. Vitiate just though this old man was the owner’s grampa or something so he didn’t care much about it.
After leaving the Inn, he easily made his way back to his new district, but not before going off into a secluded area to change his wardrobe. Vitiate didn’t take to the street and secretly snuck his way to his new land.
Sneaking his way into his mall, he looked outside the window and noticed a few people looking at the mall. They were intrigued and confused since this place wasn’t here yesterday. Vitiate summoned all the slaves to heal them.
He had potions that could help some of the crippled ones, he had access to his Dungeon System while in this Building. It was easy to heal certain problems the slaves had, such as blindness, being deaf, and skin wounds, like horrible scratches.
The problem was healing missing limbs, he could heal them with potions if they had the missing limb with them, as he did with the Hobgoblin in the past. He would have to put a few Dungeon Points on the line if he wanted to heal these type of injuries, but what could he do?
Vitiate first healed the two dwarf sisters, one had blue hair and the other had red hair. One was blind while the other was deaf. Vitiate pull out a dropper and inserted it into a potion bottle and sucked it up. Afterward, he just squeezed some drops of the potion liquid into their ears and eyes.
It didn’t burn them or cause them pain, but they felt a cooling sensation that they couldn’t describe. Vitiate began to help the other slaves with their injuries as well, seeing him heal them from their crippled state, doubt of what they believed he was possibly planning to do to them went out the window.
Some were healed instantly while some would have to wait 24 hours for the effects to activate. They didn’t care about the wait, they could wait another day to walk and to use their arms again. They had always waited and always believed they would never walk and feel again, so one day was nothing to them.
“Unreal, these potions should have cost you a lot, now how would I be able to pay all of that off?” The Dark Elf was concerned but he could live a long life, so he was sure he could outlive this human.
“Haha! With you all working here, trust me, you’ll be able to pay it all off in no time.” Vitiate stood up from the chair he was sitting in, he sat here to while healing the slaves. “Now, I will assign all you to your jobs here, do you understand?” Vitiate smirked and move his eyes back and forth over the slave group.
“Yes, me and my sister are willing to work for our freedom, sir! What can we do for you?” One of the dwarf looking lolis spoke resolutely, she was full of spirit and happiness that she could hear again.
“Good! Some of you won’t be able to walk until tomorrow, so just stick around and watch for the time being.” Vitiate could force them by bringing them under his Dungeon force right now, but he was against it. However, if they chose to stay after all of this, then he would have to put them under the Dungeon’s roster.
The Dwarf sisters were assigned to the blacksmith shop. He wanted them to make weapons, the shop would be closed so they won’t be disturbed. He had already placed ores, along with crystalline elements like metal and silver in the shop.
The 4 gnomes were good at alchemy, so he obviously placed them in control of the alchemy shop of the mall.
There were 6 human males, they were around 16 to 18 in age, he put them in charge of the restaurant for now. Vitiate hadn’t asked any of them for their names since he already knew them from appraising them all.
The Drow could talk now, but he still never said anything. Vitiate saw that the Drow and Dark Elf got along, so he made them work at the casino. He would have to follow them to make sure they knew how to play all the games, and how it all worked.
Next were the two Demi-human brothers with the bear ears, they were the bear type demi-human, so their statures were big. All of the humans were crippled, so all they could do was watch. Anyway, Vitiate assigned them to bodyguard duty, he may need them to go through training, but getting strong shouldn’t be hard if they’re weak.
Next were 4 Satyr males, they had goat hooves for feet and furry legs with arched horns coming out of their heads, goat horns to be exact. Vitiate had to have them cover their lower body since they didn’t have proper clothes on.
Each of the humans could choose to go with any of these groups to watch them at work. Vitiate still wanted to purchase more slaves before then, he was also hungry. However, he decided to wait, he wanted to teach the Drow and Elf about the casino since this would be his biggest moneymaker.
If he could buy his Elf sister, he was going to place her in the casino area as well. Once they were at the casino, he started to teach them everything. They were amazed at the sight of the machines, they had never seen anything like them. They got to play on the machine and found that they both liked playing them a lot.
They were free to play now, Vitiate hadn’t set them up yet.
“Damn, this game as you call it is so addicting, I can’t stop playing this thing!” The Dark Elf had already played about 12 games, the Drow was no different.
“I didn’t know the humans had advanced so far in technology, who would have thought?” The Drow sighed, this game was fun, but he was worried that the humans were 1 up or 2 up on his race, which wasn’t good to him.
“This technology is exclusive to my mall, with no other humans having access to this. In fact, you guys are the first to see this other than me. No other human has seen these machines yet, so you’re a pretty fortunate bunch.”
“What!?” Both were stunned in unison, they were surprised but secretly relieved. “Are you going to share this tech with the other humankind?” The Drow asked to confirm.
“No way!” Vitiate had a sneer on his face, he would never share any of this with any other race of the world.
“Sigh!” Both sighed in relief again.
“What are you guys so relieved about, this tech isn’t something that’ll cause harm to your race!” Vitiate shook his head, this tech couldn’t harm them, but he knew their worries.
They more than likely believed that if humans were smart enough to make these machines, then what kind of powerful weapons could they have?
“Hehe!” The two laughed strangely in unison again until Vitiate told them to go play cards and learn the game more until they were experts at it. Elves and Drows were smart and quick learners, so there was no doubt that they could process and understand these card games quickly.
Vitiate had tv screens hanging up for them to look at, yet another new thing to them but they watched and learned from it. Of course, this whole Casino room would nullify everyone’s abilities to prevent cheating in the future.
Some of the humans went to watch the other races work while some just sat near the water fountain and talked. “I need more slaves to work here, what I have now isn’t nearly enough. Free labor should get me rich in no time, hahaha!” Vitiate laughed just thinking about the money, but it was time for him to go hunting, he needed to infect someone!
“Who is a good target?” With those words, he left the mall.
