Dungeon System: World Of Chaos War - Chapter 89 Sudden Strike
Vitiate continued to run through the forest, but the rabbit was starting to catch up. Fortunately, the Evil Treants weren’t fast and lagged behind. Vitiate wasn’t looking for any fights now, in fact, he would rather not fight if he could help up. This was mainly why he had his monsters do everything for him; rather than acting himself. He still hadn’t completely shredded away from his old lazy habits, but this wouldn’t affect his strength as long as he trained.
However, if he had to, he would welcome a fight to test himself.
Vitiate wanted to shape his wings and start flying away from here but he noticed that the Evil Treants had lost their trail in the rain. However, the rabbit had already caught up to him at this time.
Vitiate looked at the rabbit the size of a dog, to be exact, the size of a rottweiler. It had blue eyes, while it was strange wearing a little blue shirt over its white furry body.
“You actually tried to bring an enemy my way to kill me or something? I’ll turn you into rabbit stew!” As soon as Vitiate’s words ended, he opened his hand as water started to formulate; creating a whip.
The Rabbit’s eye bulged, as it seemed to understand everything Vitiate said and was going to do.
“Hmph! So what If I implicated you? This Great Rabbit is the King of Ashefall Island, haha!” The Rabbit stopped and quickly jumped into the thicket of the forest, disappearing altogether.
Vitiate stood in place holding the weapon he formed in his hand. The rabbit had actually been able to talk, but he calmed down and remembered where he was. These things shouldn’t be too surprising anymore. He would be really shocked if fruits and vegetables started talking, now that would be a shocker!
“That rabbit…. I’ll find it again one day. Something like that won’t be able to escape my eye in the future.” Vitiate looked around and sighed in relief. They were both able to lose those Evil Treants that were following them.
Vitiate wanted to go back to lay this Apostle out but those annoying Evil Treants may still be in the area. Shaking his head, he decided he would find another place to put this guy but at a later date. This time, he wanted to return to his Dungeon and check on the mall to see how everything was going so far.
Just as he was about to leave, the bushes shook and silhouette lunged at him with killing intent. There was no killing intent at first, it was like this individual waited for the right time before revealing itself. Afterall, Vitiate had poor perception which was one of his current weaknesses.
Vitiate quickly drew his weapon to block the incoming attack. With a clanking sound and the powerful force of this attack; Vitiate feet sunk into the ground but he still blocked it successfully.
This wasn’t a person but a beast.
The creature breathed its steamy rotten breath in Vitiate’s face while its huge paw was over his weapon where it attacked. Vitiate had kept his weapon as a pole, then he pushed the paw away, in turn, pushing himself out of the ground and away from the beast.
After getting away from the beast, he could now see what had attacked him. Vitiate had already seen the face of the creature, so he knew what attacked him already.
It was the Manticore from back then!
“We’ll kill you then return to Goa and make a fortune.” The Manticore spoke with a strange smile on its face. It relayed a few words to Vitiate, but he was sure these weren’t the Manticore’s but someone else’s words.
The voice was the sound of a man’s, perhaps an adventurer who came to hunt this beast in the past. This creature’s words and the way it used its facial expressions could easily cause someone to shiver if they weren’t experienced enough.
“Die~!” The Manticore uttered these words before it leaped at him again. Its scorpion tail shot out, it was already leaking some type of green fluid. Vitiate quickly dodged the tail strike, but its tail moved swiftly and kept striking out at him in hopes of piercing him. The poison from its tail landed on the ground giving off a sizzling sound, along with some steamy fumes.
The Manticore had different types of poison it could use from its tail while this was a deadly corrosive type of poison.
“This thing really just wants to kill me for no reason. It just randomly appears out of the forest just to come and kill me?” He could tell that the Manticore wasn’t doing this for food, but rather for sport instead.
With another dodge, Vitiate turned his weapon into a sword. Along with his Title Sword menace, extra buffs were applied to him. With a quick slash, he cut off the tip of its tail where the stinger was located; this was where the poison came from to perform an injection.
The Manticore roared in fury and pain. It flicked its tail and knocked the weapon out of Vitaite’s hand. It was pretty troublesome to hold tightly onto a weapon in these rainy conditions, so the weapon was easily knocked away.
“Uh, oh!” Vitiate spoke these words when he lost his weapon, but he wasn’t panicked. He was more worried about the Manticore’s poison but it couldn’t use it anymore until it could heal the tip of its scorpion tail.
However, this wasn’t all it could do. The Manticore swung its thick tail again; this time it wants to smash Vitiate. The Manticore’s expression surprisingly carried rage, its humanoid face was far too creepy!
Vitiate had dodged again, but he nearly slipped on mud. Seeing this, the Manticore shot flames from its mouth. He hurriedly and covered himself with Water Ki; this would be useless anyway due to the rain prevent the fire from dealing any damage.
The Manticore seemed to have noticed this and stopped right away.
“Creature, you’re clearly a psychopath, but if you come with me, you won’t have to die. Come be my mount and live a happy life, what do you say?” Vitiate smiled and said bluntly.
Mount?
The Manticore roared again, it was clearly enraged hearing Vitiate’s ridiculous remark. If this had been some other adventurer, it would have probably given him or her a mocking smile, but it couldn’t decisively kill this person which made it even madder.
“I guess that means no way, huh?”
The Manticore charged at Vitiate baring its horns this time, it wanted him to die no matter what. It couldn’t use its fire-based attacks and its tail had been rendered useless, so all it could use was its powerful physique to kill him.
Vitiate already had a plan to take this creature down. He opened both his hands to grab at its horn during its charge. Vitiate was holding onto them, creating tracks in the muddy ground as he was being pushed by the force of the Manticore until he came to a stop.
“This Manticore’s strength must be at least 11 to 12 hundred!” There was no way he would be an opponent of this creature back then. If he had decided to fight it back at that time, his only choices would be to either run or die.
There was shocked on the Manticore’s strange and twisted face. How could a mere human defeat him in strength?
“Roar!”
The Manticore roared in rage and smashed its tail down toward Vitiate, targeting his head! However, this was just what he wanted the monster to do. Vitiate quickly pushed the head of the Manticore aside using its horns, then moved to the side of the beast.
The Manticore had missed its tail strike, but at this time Vitiate had climbed onto its back to grab its tail. The Manticore began to freak out like a bull in a rodeo by jumping up and down wildly, but Vitiate didn’t let go.
He applied a crushing force to its tail until he heard a crunching sound. Vitiate had to admit that its tail was very hard to crack; it was a good thing his strength improved. He didn’t bother to stab at its body because he knew it was too hard to at the moment for even his current weapon. So he could only cripple certain parts of its body, like its tail.
The Manticore was confident in its body strength, with it only having worries of people attacking its eyes. It never could have imagined that a mere human was able to crush its tail, forming cracks on it and causing severe bleeding to it.
The Manticore swung its tail again and launched Vitiate away, but that was because he had let go.
“Oh, no, it looks like you won’t be using that tail for the next 2 to 3 months or so, hahaha!” Vitiate looked at the panicked stricken Manticore and laughed. This was its main weapon of offense and defense, but it was now injured badly.
As much as it wanted to kill Vitiate; it only had thoughts of running away now. It used everything it could to kill this human but nothing seemed to work. Just as it was about to run, a large hand came down and smashed it into the ground.
The earth shook, leaving a giant fist print in the muddy ground. Mud splattered everywhere, landing on many trees in the surroundings.
The body of the Manticore was strong so it wasn’t hurt badly by this attack. However, the attack shook it and it fainted afterward.
Vitiate wasn’t the one who attacked, but instead, it was the Blue Apostle who assaulted and pulverized it into the ground.
“Good, Good! Let’s take this guy away.” Vitiate smiled victoriously. He was glad to test his strength on the manticore without using any skills. Sadly, the Manticore wasn’t easy to knock out, and he was afraid it would get away since he was sure he wouldn’t be able to beat it into defeat. So, he had no choice but to utilize the Blue Apostle to take it down.
The Blue Apostle used its big hand to grab the Manticore like a kitten before holding it tightly in its palm. Under the cover of the thunderstorm and heavy rain, no one should have noticed this battle going on. Sitting on the shoulder of the Apostle, they headed back towards the Dungeon.
…
Elsewhere, another familiar individual sat in place; his expression showed confusion and shock.
It was the rabbit from before.
“That Manticore was trying to eat me earlier, it looks like it tracked me down but ran into him and was defeated!” The rabbit had watched the battle from start to finish; it left in a hurry not because of Vitiate’s threat, but because of this Manticore.
“He was beating it, but then a Giant Blue Monster appeared behind him and smashed it into the ground. What the hell is that? Does that man and that monster have something to do with those invaders from the sea?”
This rabbit wasn’t a simple one; he could tell that the Blue Monster wasn’t a demon, so what was it? The rabbit wanted to follow Vitiate but it lost both the Blue Monster and Vitiate’s trail in the rain.
“Damn! That blue monster is so big, yet I can’t find its trail anywhere!” The rabbit was at a loss and decided to give up. He lived in this forest so he was sure he would meet that guy again.
….
The Dungeon.
Two Ogres came and took the Manticore away, throwing it into the cell area where the humans were.
“What the f.u.c.k? That’s a Manticore!” Everyone got out of their beds, stunned at the sight of this.
“Look at it; its been injured.” One of the adventurers pointed at its tail and exclaimed.
“It looks like someone beat the daylight out it, goodness!” The Pointy nosed man laughed and said.
“Oh my god! It’s the Manticore from the wanted poster from Goa Village!” Callista quickly recognized and recalled the many wanted posters that said dead or alive on them.
“What?”
“How could it have been caught?”
“Manticores have hard bodies the more they age, how could it get knocked into this state?” Putting 2 and 2 together, they started to understand something and the room grew deadly silent for a while.
…..
At this time, Vitiate had already returned to his office and suited up. Nearly 6 hours had already passed since he had left here. Leaving his office, he was immediately approached by several slaves.
“Sir, we have trouble, someone is making false accusations about the food in the restaurant. We require your help!” One of the human slaves exclaimed urgently.
“Lead the way.” Vitiate frowned. He knew there was always jealous people, but who could be causing problems?
