Duskaea And The Fatum Family - Chapter 10 Kin Battles
Alector and Alicia Telum, the parents of Rhys. They are the two strangers that me and Oceane saved a while ago. Unlike the Fatum siblings, they slumbered longer. What happened to them? What did Rhys do to them?
“I see you brought my foolish parents with you. I thought you’ll leave them behind. After all, they’re Telums too.” Rhys uttered.
“What have you done? Don’t you know that parents are too precious to lose?!” I shouted at him. I’m enraged by his stupidity and attitude. Does he know how much pain they would’ve felt?
“I used them as lab rats for my latest experiment. The T-Residue, also known as ‘Typhon Residue’. It’s a substance that enhances the user’s prowess beyond their limits, yet there are still some side effects. I used them as experiments, but they’re completely worthless to bear. But one have bonded with the T-Residue perfectly, and that was my precious brother, Maddox. Though, he’s adopted, so I commanded some of my machines and henchmen to capture some candidates. For example, the Fatum’s father.” Rhys giggled nastily.
“You piece of shit!” Blaze threw his green-inflamed giant shuriken towards Rhys, but their father’s tail blocked it.
“Aren’t you grateful? I just made your dearest father the strongest of all monsters, and still you despise me? How rude. Hehehehehe.” he giggled again.
“I guess I would not worry about you anymore.” the tentacles emerged from his back again, and used its rocket-features to fly away.
“Serus, go after him. We’ll take care of dad.” Arlo said.
“Okay. Phoenix, come on.” red-hot wings came out behind me.
“Let me guide you, master Serus.” the Phoenix uttered.
for visiting.
“Don’t call me that. It’s so embarrassing, being called a master and all, even though I’m powerless.” I replied.
“As you wish, mas– I mean, Serus.” the Phoenix responsed.
“You reminded me of someone, Serus.” it continued.
“Well, let’s go.” we flew way up high, and chased Rhys to the forests near Disko Bay.
As we get farther and farther away from the scene, I managed to hit Rhys with my blazing balls. He crashed down to the trees. I descended from the sky as well, and approached him fast.
“Hehehe….” Rhys laughed.
“Why are you laughing?” I asked.
“Are you that smart or you don’t even know what you’ve done?” Rhys replied with a question.
“What did I do?” I asked.
“That’s a pretty smart hunch. Chasing me away from the water, and getting me on the ground. Though, you forgot something.” he answered.
“I deal with every technologies! I’m like a tech virus. Everything I touch could advance beyond what they are meant to do. For example, these trees will turn to something more…..beautiful, but dangerous.” Rhys touched the trees with his hand, and it started change. The trunks of the trees started to turn into smooth, pure-white color. Its leaves started to become blades, and laser eyes appeared on the trunks. The roots became its feet. I guess I’ll be fighting these tree robots.
They approached me, but I burst colossal, blazing spheres to hit them. They took a direct hit from it.
“Is that all you got?” I became a little more egoistic.
“How stupid. Hahahaha!” he laughed again. the tree bots started rise up again.
“What?” I asked.
“Those aren’t just made out of white clothes or stuff. Their skins are completely made out of silicon-coverings. Their blades are made out of tungsten. You have no hope defeating them, and you still need to fight me, the final boss! HAHAHAHAHAHA” he laughed loudly and wickedly.
“You’re a coward.” I replied.
“You said you’re the ‘Omega King’ aren’t you? A coward king, I can’t believe I met one. AHHAHAHAHAHA.” I laughed so hard.
“You dare mock me?!” he shouted at me.
“If you can’t battle a simpleton like me as a king, then you’re nothing but a coward.” I mocked him again.
“Fine then. I’ll prove myself that I’m the end of all of you fools and the start of new magnificent creations. You’re dead, Serus.” Rhys deactivated all the tree robots, and deformed back to normal ones.
“Time for your finality!” he charged at me with his crab-clawed tentacles.
I dodged its every sharp grasp, then I flew into the air.
“You’re not going anywhere, Serus!” a robot punched me back to the forest, and Rhys caught me.
“Phoenix Host: Retribution.” I cast. The huge, fiery wings of the Phoenix emerged and flapped. The flap released a one, massive wave that burned all the trees around the forest, along with the robots incoming, and hoping Rhys was damaged too.
“That took a lot from me.” I uttered to myself.
“Phoenix, are you alright?” I asked the Phoenix.
“Release me.” instead, a deep masculine voice answered my question.
“Uhmm….Phoenix?” I was puzzled.
“Graaah!” Rhys suddenly charged towards me with multiple drilling tentacles from his back.
I blocked it with my flaming aura, but his force is pushing too hard. I can’t maintain it.
Then, a lightning bolt struck Rhys out of my face.
“What?” two people rushed towards Rhys with their abilities. One with electricity, and I think the other holds the power of magnetism. The guy has yellowish hair, while the other has a brunette one. I get it now. Those are Alector and Alicia. They already woke up and came here.
“Rhys, stop what you’re doing! You’re hurting too much people!” Alector yelled at his son.
“Baby, please come back to us. We can forgive you, and start anew.” Alicia uttered.
“Why?! Aren’t hurting people our only purpose in life, dad?! Isn’t that what lord Mnemos told us, to kill every human beings with the Fatum? Don’t tell me that you forgot about that one, after all, you two are one of the lord’s trusted guardians.” Rhys replied.
“Son, we already rebelled against that tyrannical conqueror. He lost his way, and we don’t want you to have such fate.” Alector said.
“I’m sorry, but I will end this now. I shouldn’t be defeated, for our curse is worse than death itself.” Rhys’ tentacles lunged at them, but Alicia contained Rhys through her magnet prison.
“Son, please stop this already. We can still help you. The Fatums can help you.” Alicia attempted to convince Rhys.
“Them?! Help me?! No, no, no. The lord declared that the Fatums are branded as traitors to Duskaea, because they let that guy kill him! The lord saw it himself.” Rhys pointed at me.
“You think you can contain me here? NO! I will show you what the Omega king really is about!” Rhys continued. His eyes turned to bright blue, his tentacles started to grow even larger than its normal form. His body started to round and elongate. It’s a colossal, tech-like octopus. One that has lasers for eyes, and metallic tentacles. It’s shiny, white skin glows.
“Are you alright?” they approached me.
“You are Serus, right?” Alicia asked.
“Yes.” I answered.
“You are not what they think you are. I feel something odd about you, like there’s something messing with your mind.” she said.
“Well, maybe it’s just me panicking right now. Though, how do you know that?”
“Neural impulses.” Alector replied.
“She can see memories through a person’s neural impulse.” he continued.
“Like Beatrix?” I asked.
“No. I’m inferior to hers, but I wonder why she didn’t see your oddness.” she verbalized.
“This is a drag, but let’s save Rhys.” I declared. I activated my Phoenix once again. This’ll be quite a battle.

•Grey’s P.O.V.•
The parents of Rhys’ woke up, and decided to help Serus against their son. That would’ve been frustrating, fighting your own son. Well, I felt that way too, because right now, we’re going to save our father out of that substance that “that kid” put inside of him.
“GRAAAAHH!!!” the Balaur continued to growl.
“Grey, how did you have your powers?” Beatrix asked.
“I kind of just realized it. I had an encounter with this ‘man’.” I answered.
“Man?” she scratched her head.
“We’ll talk later….with Serus.” I replied.
“Heads incoming!” Vita warned. The silver-armored heads charged at us one by one.
“Don’t worry, they wouldn’t regenerate, so better just cut them all off.” Blaze said.
“Easy for you to say, Blaze. Those heads aren’t just normal. They are made out of the scales that our father used in our weapons. Which means our weapons are useless against them.” Arlo said.
“I’ve got that covered up, guys!” Vita placed her hands on the ground.
“Waffenruf.” she cast, and things began to appear from the land. Weapons. Weapons are created from the land. Those are our weapons, but with a different style of it. My knife’s blade can now extend itself, by pressing a button on the handle.
“Vita, when did you learn this kind of stuff?” Mason asked.
“Back when we’re escaping. I told you I’m strong.” replied Vita.
“Let’s test it!” Blaze threw his shuriken towards the Balaur’s several heads. The blazing shuriken suddenly splits into four, and hit the heads simultaneously.
“That’s lit.” Blaze is amazed by his new weapon. The weapon returns to its owner whenever it was thrown.
“Let’s show father what we are made of.” Arlo said. This time he have now gauntlets for his hands.
We dashed with our weapons bravely, and our father fought back with his colossal heads and body. We dodged the large gemstones that the Balaur spitted at us.
“Why don’t you try throwing it, big sis Grey?” Vita suggested.
I threw my knife towards the monster, and it promptly did a new stunt. It doubled and doubled, over and over again until there are almost a hundreds of it. Almost like Blaze, but mine is several times more than his four shurikens.
“Whoa!” I gasped in astonishment. I can use it with my Zenith now.
“GRAHHHH!!!” the Balaur roared furiously, and rained small, yet sharp crystals upon us. Myknife returned to its original form and returned to me.
“Come to me!” Arlo called us. We gathered around him, and raised his hand to the air. His hand intensely grew along with his gauntlet. It protected us from the pouring stones.
“It’s amazing that he can still think logically, even though he’s in a feral mode. He didn’t use his flame-breathing ability because of Blaze.” Beatrix said.
“Let’s go, Beatrix.” Mason rushed to father, and used his new dual-swords.
“Use your phantasm energy through it, Mason!” Vita exclaimed.
“Let’s try it.” he slashed with the two swords and unleashed large waves of phantasm energy towards the Balaur. It took a huge hit.
“That is impressive and all, but we don’t need to focus on attacking our father. We need to extract the virus from his body.” Oceane said.
“Can you do it?” I asked.
“Only if we destroy his crystalline protection aura and armor.” Oceane replied.
“Then get ready, Oceane, because we’re going to burst his armor down.” Arlo said.
“Blaze, ready yourself with your Zenith. You’re going to burn the gemstone armor of our father, so Oceane can extract the virus from his blood.” Arlo continued.
“Finally, I’ve been waiting for this.” Blaze said. We have this ability called a “Zenith”, which is also known as an ultimate attack, or skill in video games, but we never developed it. The ability just kind of emerge whenever it thinks you’re ready, as if the ability itself has its life.
“Noxia Fatum: Sear!” he started to gather heats and flames from all over the area into him. He then absorbed every spark of it, now turning into fire itself.
“Feel the arrogance of Blaze!” he released all of those fires into the armored body of the Balaur, but the Balaur guarded itself with its wings. Mason and Beatrix helped by throwing a barrage of blasts towards it too.
Me and Oceane rushed behind it. I threw my knife on its back, cloning itself several times, and luckily it broke through the armor that left an opening for Oceane to extract the fluid.
“Just buy me some time. This might take a while.” Oceane requested.
“We got you covered there, sis.” Beatrix replied.
As I am helping Oceane, a flash caught my attention. I looked sharper at the skies, it was Serus falling to the sea. This can’t be real. He was defeated.
“Serus!” I yelled.
“Grey, don’t!” Arlo shouted at me, but I still went running towards the sea to save Serus. The moment I am about to swim, the Balaur bursts them all out of its way, and became more powerful than it was before.
“It’s done!” fortunately, Oceane screamed back, telling us that she extracted the fluid successfully. The Balaur deformed to its normal form. Our father finally came back, safe and quiet, but he’s unconscious.
“We need to help them!” I yelled at them. I pointed to the forest on our left.
“We can’t. We need to help dad get out of here.” Vita said.
“Serus is drowning under the sea, we can’t just go without him.” I uttered.
“Serus can help himself. He can survive.” Beatrix said.
“But–”
“Trust me, Grey. He is stronger than we know.” Beatrix assured.
A sudden whirlpool formed in the distant water, where Serus has fallen. The whirlpool got bigger and bigger, until it formed a huge waterspout. Bright, red eyes glimmered from within it. It got our attention, and the thing inside blasted all the water surrounding it. It revealed itself as a sea serpent, with blue, steel-like scales, with large wings on its side. Its tail of sapphires started to wave angrily. It roared ferociously.
“Is that–” Mason went silent.
“Leviathan.” our father woke up, still injured, and uttered the sea serpent’s name.
