Duskaea And The Fatum Family - Chapter 3
It will actually happen. We’re going to stand against a villain. The others are fighting the beasts that are released when we got here in Maroon Bells in Colorado. I hid at the far rock to avoid the battle. It’s their choice.
“Serus!” they called out to me. I think they’re done with those monsters. I let myself out and approached them.
“What are those?” I asked.
“They are werewolves, but not a normal werewolf. Their furry bodies are surprisingly made out of crystals.” said Vita.
“So, what about it?” I queried.
“Are you even watching some supernatural movies like Twilight and Underworld? Werewolves are only half-human and half-wolf creatures, but their furs are not made out of crystals.” Grey replied.
“Maybe someone made them like that?” I dumbly asked. Mason summoned his dual-swords and jumped over me. He cut something. It is indeed a werewolf, and its body’s fur is made out of crystalline objects.
“He’s not safe here. We need to send him home.” Mason suggested.
“I’m fine. You said I should go, so now I’m here with you, superheroes.” I said.
“It’s still different from you being safe. We need to conceal his presence.” Mason suggested to them.
“Let’s do it!” Beatrix agreed, and the others nodded too.
“Soul Conceal.” Mason cast.
“Mind Hide.” Beatrix continued.
They cast a strong skill of theirs, both soul and mind, to conceal my presence from any enemies that may come around. A snake come around us, and we all jumped out of fear.
“Don’t let it bother you, i-it’s just a s-snake.” Oceane is trembling.
“We need to go to the mountains.” Beatrix said. We all gave her a puzzled look.
“What about the mountains?” asked Grey.
“That snake is not ordinary. It has an owner, and he told me to lead us to the mountains.” she answered.
“Then, is that owner our enemy?” I asked next.
“Yeah, because he told me to kill that snake before turning into a gigantic size.” said Beatrix. We all ran towards the snake and attempted to step on the snake before it gets enormous. But it’s too late.
The snake grew at the size of a mountain, its skin turned into a crystalline armor, and it’s fangs looks sharper than a sharpened knife. It hissed loud on us.
“Hide!” Beatrix yelled at me. I hid again, but I want to see them battle that giant snake. So, I hid in a nearby small cave to be able to watch them.
They are in position. Mason readies his dual-swords, Vita summoned her various weapons, Oceane and Grey geared themselves up with a blue-colored scythe, and a grey-colored survival knife. Beatrix only uses mind projection weapons.
“Are you all set?” Beatrix asked them.
“Let’s go.” Oceane uttered.
They all lunged at the beast. Mason drew his swords and jumped at the crystal reptile’s head. The three ladies charged at the lower body of it.
“Let’s not get messy.” Mason uttered while at the air. He strike over the head, but the thing didn’t even falter.
“What? My swords should be able to crack crystals.” The snake looked up, and tried to eat Mason, but it was disturbed by the girls’ attacks.
“We’re here, dumb ass.” said Vita. The snake waved its large tail to hit them, but they dodged quickly. Mason fell from that high jump, but he’s fine. He caught up with the others and helped them fight the beast.
“Why doesn’t my sword work against that thing?” Mason queried.
“I don’t know, my knife and Oceane’s scythe did not even split a part of its scale.” answered Grey.
“We’ll handle this, go with Serus.” Beatrix said.
“Okay.” Oceane, and Grey replied.
“I guess I won’t have the fun for now.” continued Mason. They all ran to my direction.
“What happened?” I asked.
“You’re watching, Serus. Stop playing dumb.” Grey told me. Maybe she saw me watching then.
“This isn’t suppose to happen. The weapons are supposed to be able to cut through anything.” Oceane uttered.
“Why?” I asked.
“The weapons that we wield are all made out of our father’s hard work, and powers. It should be also unbreakable. Nothing can break it, except our father’s powers only, and it can sever anything, but our father’s creation.” explained Mason.
“If it can’t break that snake, then it just means one thing.” Grey said, thinking of something.
“Lord of Weapons!” we heard Vita’s yell from the sky. Looks like she created a hundred of different weapons from the sky, and send forth to the snake’s whole body.
“Telekinetic Enhancer!” Beatrix yelled too, empowering Vita’s weapons even more. With both energy and its physical aspect, it might bring the monster down.
We all watched as every weapon in the sky was thrown as it penetrates the snake’s body. The snake staggered, it fell down. It’s dead, and the two of them defeated it. Vita falls from the sky.
“Vita!” Beatrix jumped high and got Vita. They descended. Vita’s asleep.
“Vita’s out of juice. She used too much of her power in the battle.” Beatrix said.
“We’ll carry her to the mountains, and keep her somewhere safe to a place that we might find.” Beatrix told us.
“I’ll carry her.” I volunteered. I do hate them, but it’s humane to help someone after doing too much work.
“Are you sure, Serus?” she asked.
“Yes.” I am sure. It’s my duty to help them until the month’s done. Then, I’ll be done. I carried Vita from Beatrix’s arms.
“Shall we go?” Oceane asked.
“Let’s go.” we all answered.
We walked the pathway to the mountains. Mason and Beatrix also concealed Vita’s presence from incoming monsters. We stopped by the lakes every day for a rest. Vita still sleeps, her power was almost emptied from the last battle. I’ll carry her until she gets better. I’m impressed though, even she’s still just a child, she could finish a battle with giants. We are walking towards the mountains for days. Everyday, we also encounter the crystal-furred werewolves, but all of them are also defeated by the superheroes.
We’re almost there. We’re about to face this villain. They’re father and mother called them for help, which means this enemy is not the usual villain that they always deal with everyday. I’m excited, at the same time shivering in fear. No one knows what can happen in the upcoming battle, and I for sure, can die in this situation.
“We’re here, he said he’ll be in front of this mountain.” Beatrix said.
“Where is he?” I asked.
“He just appeared.” Beatrix said.
“Where?” asked Oceane, her calming presence is also full of hate because of their parents’ disappearance.
“Up there.” Mason pointed his finger to the peak of the mountain. There is guy standing, his shadow is concealing his face because of the sunlight. The guy hopped from the peak onto the bottom part of the mountain. He really is a “super” villain after all. He looks fine from that high jump, and as he landed the ground cracked.
“Who are you?” Beatrix asked. The guy is almost as dull-looking as Mason, but the wrong thing about this guy is that his smile are scary. He wears only a white T-shirt with a furry belt, and black leather pants.
“I am Maddox Telum.” the guy has a voice of a snake, but beautiful than it is. Why am I appreciating a villain’s voice? How dumb of me.
“A Telum?!” Grey is thunderstruck.
“Yesssss, and you sssstill have what I need.” the guy, Maddox, said.
“As you can see, we don’t have what you want, now give us our parents.” Beatrix commanded him.
“Asssss you can sssee too, I don’t have your parentsss. They’re cooperating with the leader.” Maddox showed a wicked grin.
“As usual, snakes always lie.” Oceane moved suddenly towards Maddox, and swept her scythe.
“No, don’t!” Beatrix tried to stop Oceane, but it’s too late. Oceane cut Maddox.
Maddox’s body are now in half. Oceane turned her back and walks towards us, but something strange is happening. Maddox’s bodies are reattaching itself. I saw his arm elongated with his hands turned to crystalline blades.
“Oceane!” Grey shouted. Oceane looked back. It approached Oceane quickly, ready to thrust her.
“You’re done for, Fatum.” Maddox uttered.
Then we heard a thundering clash. It’s Vita. I’m shocked, I didn’t even noticed her leaving my arms. She produced a ginormous shield, and countered Maddox’s attack.
“Hmm? Why can’t I sense her presence?” Maddox is perplexed.
“You will never sense me! You’re weak, and my siblings are stronger than you!” Vita yelled enraged.
“You’re underestimating the wrong person, kid.” Maddox said.
“H-He’s a Telum, Vita.” Mason told her.
“I don’t care! Telum or not, he should never ever hurt my friends!” Vita uttered and charged at Maddox with lance and shield. They’re contending with each other. Powerful smashes and kicks. Amazed of Vita’s strength, no one tried to stop her, even me. She thrashed Maddox on to the ground.
“We are stronger than you.” Vita stood with us, uttering those words passionately.
“I respect your strength, kid. But that thing is, you still underestimated someone you still don’t know.” I see his grin grew wider. He’s planning something vile.
“I’ll ssshow you what despair lookssss like!” He gathered a red-colored energy with in his hands, and released it to the sky. The beautiful flowers and field wilted, the blue lakes turned into purplish, viscous liquids, the mountains’ peaks turned into a volcanoes’ craters and vents, the air is hardly breathable, and the white, fluffy clouds turned into black, thunderous ones, and the shiny sun is now covered. What is this? This….power…is making all of us tremble.
“Let me introduce myssssself again. I am Maddox Telum, and I am a sssssnake deity that can also corrupt a certain area’s environmental status. And now, you have witnessed the great power!”
“Grey…..hide…..with Serus…..at a far mountain. It’s…not safe for you. Take…Vita too….” Beatrix ordered us, barely breathing.
“How about….you?” Grey replied.
“The three of us can handle…..this.” Oceane answered Grey.
Grey held me, and Vita too, then ran as fast as a cheetah could be. She carried me, and jumped high with Vita to a small cave up in the mountain. The environment here are still pure, unlike the one we’re in a while ago.
We just sat there, waiting for them to come back.

•Beatrix’s P.O.V•
“Where….. are… our parents?!” I asked furiously.
“How sssstubborn.” Maddox approached us swiftly, with his hardened arms, that can also elongate. He swung it at us.
for visiting.
“Duck!” I yelled, and the three of us crouched. We charged at him one by one as he’s distracted.
“Wrong move.” he wickedly grinned. Slithering snakes blocked us from hitting him. He jumped heavenly high, and used the corrupted clouds to gather blue lightning in his hands, he then released it.
“Gahh!” Mason countered the bolts with his prowess, but he barely survived it. He fainted after the attack.
“Who’s next?” I swear, I will cut that grin of his.
“Bea, my powers aren’t working. The water is turning against my will.” Oceane told me. Her face is calm, but those eyes tells a different story.
“Turn …..back. Go to the …others. I’ll handle this.” I can barely breath, the air is suffocating.
“No, I can fight.” she replied.
“Just protect Mason. I’ll handle this crap.” I leaped at a great height to reach him, and prepared my psycho-gauntlets.
“Getting somewhere?” he just shifted from that place, then near me. He knocked me using his crystalline-scaled limbs onto the ground. He descended too.
“Ah!” I spat blood from my fall. I’m slowly losing my consciousness. I need their help.
“How pitiful. They told me that the Fatum clan is the strongest of all clans created by Duskaea, but you’re weak.” Maddox said.
‘Duskaea’. That name.
“You’re never allowed to invoke his name!” I howled onto his face.
“You will be defeated, Telum, and you’ll never achieve your goal! We won’t let you!” I continued, infuriated.
“Who will stop me? Your weak blue-haired sister? The one who fainted? The little girl? Those people cannot stop me, for I will be the new prince of the Telum clan! I will destroy you.” This guy, I will defeat him, no matter what.
“Time for a nap, blonde Fatum. This time, it’ll be eternal slumber.” his amber, sharp eyes looked at me, with his snake fangs ready to strike me with venom. I called them, I’ll leave him to them.
He suddenly staggered, unable to bite me. Swords thrust in his body. It’s Vita, and the others. I told them to stay out for safety, but they returned. I guess that’s what family is for.
“Beatrix! Hang on.” Serus carried me.
“I thought you’re an ignorant person?” I asked him.
“Now’s not the time to tease me.” he said.
“I told you to stay out!” I yelled at the two siblings.
“And left you to die?! Ha! No way. Even though I don’t have powers, I will try my best to help you.” Grey replied.
“Oh well… I called them, so please, bare the burden for a while.” I responded. I fainted slowly, and I hear them shouting my name, but I’m so exhausted. I will leave this to “them”.

•Serus’ P.O.V•
“Beatrix!” I shouted her name multiple times, while carrying her on my arms. The two gals are brawling with that snake bloat on the front side of the volcano.
“Serus look out!” I looked at them, and saw Maddox reaching me swiftly, he then held my neck hard, almost suffocating me.
“You brought a feeble with you?! How humoroussssss. The superheroes, needing help from a puny, little human. I can’t even imagine it.” He laughed as his grasp on my neck gets stiffer.
“Don’t touch him!” both of them rushed to my spot.
“Hehehe….. Let’ssss have some snack, shall we?” he unpleasantly laughed as he mutates into a vaster snake, unlike the one we battled before. His form contained a straight line of fur and crystal across his body, and crystal spikes on his tail. Maddox traveled fast to the crater of the volcano.
“NO!” Grey and Vita cried. Is this it? Who cares, right? I will die sooner or later anyway. He threw me into the volcano’s vent, with magma still in it. It feels so painful, agonizing, and excruciating. The magma consumes your body, yet it also warms you as you pass away. I feel good. This is what ignorance would’ve been like. Even though everything is in order, or in chaos, you’re still minding your own business, and therefore, you achieved true calmness.
“Awaken us.” these were the last words that I heard.
