Earth's Alpha Prime - Chapter 264: Friend-troduction
At Jay’s signal, Qew stepped forward with an eager smile and began unveiling the plan behind Alter Reality. Her eyes sparkled as she spoke, clearly passionate about the project she had poured her heart into.
She outlined every detail, explaining how the game was far more than just a virtual experience—it was a groundbreaking tool designed to prepare humanity for the Assimilation.
From simulating survival scenarios to enhancing strategic thinking, Alter Reality would fundamentally change how people adapt to the upcoming challenges.
As Qew’s words hung in the air, the room was filled with stunned silence. Everyone except Kay and Moro stared in awe, their expressions a mix of disbelief and fascination as they absorbed the sheer scope of what Qew was describing.
The concept was beyond anything they had imagined—something that could change the very fabric of society.
Even Olivia and Sergei, typically composed and in control, found themselves unable to hide their shock. This was the first time they were hearing about Alter Reality, and it left them utterly speechless.
They had expected another clever strategy, but what Qew presented was nothing short of revolutionary. The game was not just a product; it was a game-changing tool that could dictate the survival rate of humanity in ways they hadn’t thought possible. The sheer ambition behind it was staggering.
As Qew continued, intricately detailing the game’s design and its profound implications for humanity’s survival, a weighty silence fell over the room. That wasn’t the usual quiet of interest or curiosity; it was the kind of silence born from grasping the immense gravity of what was being discussed.
The project was more than just a game; it was a potential solution to a looming crisis, a lifeline that could change everything.
But amidst the intense atmosphere, Jay suddenly turned his attention toward the villa entrance, his gaze sharpening as if he had sensed something—or rather, someone—beyond the walls.
A subtle smile crept across his lips, unnoticed by most in the room. Without a word, he excused himself from the table, leaving the others puzzled by his abrupt departure. There was a brief exchange of glances, questioning what could have caught Jay’s attention so suddenly.
As Jay reached the main entrance, the villa door creaked open just before he could touch it. A tall man with striking Italian features strolled in, his broad smile carrying a warmth that instantly softened the atmosphere.
Jay’s smile widened as the man greeted him with an even brighter grin, and they exchanged a casual side hug like two old friends reunited after a long separation.
“You’re a bit late,” Jay said, his tone relaxed and welcoming, “but not too much. Come, join us.”
They walked back toward the dining area together, their casual banter highlighting an easy camaraderie. As they entered, the curious eyes of Jay’s family members followed them, the unexpected guest immediately drawing attention. Once they reached the table, Jay turned to formally introduce him.
“To those who don’t know, this is Dante, a good friend I made in the Trial World and a fellow Alpha Chosen.”
The room was suddenly filled with a different kind of tension. Jay’s family exchanged looks of disbelief, trying to process what they had just heard.
It wasn’t only the fact that Dante was an Alpha Chosen, but what truly shocked them was hearing Jay call someone a ‘good friend.’
For years, ever since he was 17, Jay had distanced himself from forming close bonds with anyone outside his immediate family. The only exception had been Rownak, his one trusted companion.
Even with Udhay, his long-time student, Jay had maintained a professional boundary, never once inviting him into the family’s private space.
But there was Dante, someone entirely outside Jay’s usual circle, and yet Jay treated him with a casual warmth that was unlike him.
The way Jay interacted with Dante—comfortable, relaxed, almost as if they had known each other for years—was something none of them had seen in a long time.
Jay had always been distant, maintaining a protective barrier around himself that few could penetrate. Yet with Dante, it was as if that barrier didn’t exist.
Divya and Ankith couldn’t hide their surprise, their eyes narrowing as they tried to piece together what had changed in their son.
As the family took in this surprising dynamic, a sense of curiosity and intrigue lingered in the room. What had brought about that change? What experiences in the Trial World had led Jay to reconsider forming friendships, something he had long avoided?
Kay and Qew handled the situation with ease, having already learned about the events from the Tournament Island through MJ.
Despite their initial surprise, they felt a sense of relief and happiness that Jay had finally found another friend he could rely on, someone who had proven their loyalty in ways that went beyond mere words.
The fact that Dante had risked his life to protect Jay spoke volumes. Both Kay and Qew couldn’t help but feel their respect for Dante grow severalfold, knowing how difficult it was for their brother to let anyone get close.
Olivia and Sergei remained calm and composed, already familiar with the bond between Jay and Dante. They greeted him with warm smiles, reflecting the mutual respect they had developed.
Dante, known among the Alpha Chosen as the friendliest and most approachable, had built a pleasant relationship with them over time. It was apparant from their expressions that they were genuinely happy to see him here.
Ankith, Jay’s father, was visibly pleased. Standing up from his seat, he walked over to Dante with a welcoming smile and extended his hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Dante.” His handshake was firm and genuine.
Divya, even more delighted, wasted no time. Her maternal instincts kicked in as she began heaping food onto Dante’s plate. “You must be exhausted after the travel. Please, eat well. We’ve got plenty, so don’t hesitate to ask for more.”
Her eyes shone with joy, happy not only to see Jay with a new friend but also to extend the warmth of their home to someone who had stood by her son in the most dangerous of circumstances.
Dante, touched by their hospitality, smiled gratefully. “Thank you, Mrs. Divya. The food looks fantastic. A home-cooked meal like this is exactly what I needed.” His charm and genuine appreciation put everyone at ease.
For Jay’s family, who had long worried about his guarded nature and reluctance to form connections, that was a refreshing and heartening change.
After his parents returned to their seats, the group spent a few moments exchanging pleasantries, with casual conversation flowing easily. Laughter and lighthearted remarks filled the room as everyone took the opportunity to relax for a bit.
But as the moment passed, Jay’s expression shifted back to a more serious tone. “Alright, let’s get back to the matter at hand,” he said, bringing everyone’s focus back.
“I know it’s been a long and exhausting day, especially for those who just got out of the Trial World.” His gaze swept over Dante, Olivia, and Sergei, acknowledging their efforts. “We’ll go over the key points quickly so we can all get some proper rest.”
