Earth’s Greatest Magus - Chapter 2117: Defend 8
2117 Defend 8
These plant creatures were as close to him as family, and hearing their pain echo in his mind troubled Emery heavily. The spirit attack aimed at his companions also made it nearly impossible for Emery to control the Fusion properly. His movements were heavily restrained, his coordination faltering under the relentless mental assault.
The sound of waves roared behind him as Shen Long charged with his spear, spiraling like a water torrent, striking Emery’s back with a force that shook him to his core.
“URGHH!!!”
The initial strike was followed by two more, from left and right, each blow crushing hard against his plant armor, breaking through the reinforced layers. Emery could feel the impact reverberating through his body, and with Mo Yan maintaining his spirit attack, he found himself unable to dodge or counter effectively.
The fourth strike came with the dragon’s half-blood rising into the air, his form transforming into a majestic, snake-like Azure dragon. The creature flew down with incredible speed, striking Emery hard in the chest.
BOMMM!!
The impact was like a thunderclap, shattering his chest and sending blood splattering into the air. Emery felt a searing pain as he was blasted down to the ground, the force of the blow creating a crater where he landed.
Dust and debris filled the air, and for a moment, everything seemed to stand still. Emery’s vision blurred as he struggled to regain his bearings. He could feel the life force of Twik and the Chizpurs waning, their connection to him weakening under the continuous assault.
Before Emery could do anything, Mo Yan’s massive spectral arm launched a barrage of punches at him, each blow packing a battle power of over 1200. The ground shook violently with every strike, creating massive craters and keeping Emery pinned down. The excruciating pain was immense, but it paled in comparison to his concern for his plant creatures. Desperately, Emery manipulated the ground beneath him. Sharp stones rose toward his attacker, barely scratching Mo Yan but serving their purpose. The spell lightened the ground, allowing Emery to cast [Undermaster] and swiftly escape underground.
“YOU CAN’T ESCAPE!!!” Mo Yan roared, his fury palpable.
He crushed the ground in the area with immense force, sending stones and rocks flying through the air. The chaos provided the distraction Emery needed. He used the upheaval to charge toward the formation, successfully slipping through the turmoil and finding a momentary refuge.
Breathing heavily, Emery regrouped inside the formation. His companions stared at him, their eyes wide with a mix of fear and hope. As soon as Emery was safe, he deactivated his fusion and pulled all six plant creatures back into his aperture before collapsing to his knees, coughing up blood.
“HUH!!, Back to your little cages,” Mo Yan said with a frown, his disdain evident.
The two grand magus, master and slave, approached the formation and began striking the barriers with all their might. Within seconds, the two new stone pillars that Magus Yord had painstakingly created were crushed apart, reducing the number of pillars back to ten.
“What are we going to do now!!?” shouted Edgar, his voice trembling with fear.
Emery, still panting, took a recovery pill to aid his healing. At this stage of his strength, only a high-tier 6 pill had any significant effect on his body. Simultaneously, he threw a purple color pill at each of the magus inside the formation.
“Take these,” he commanded, his voice hoarse but resolute.
They were high-grade spirit defense pills. While they offered great protection against Magus-level spirit attacks, their effectiveness against a grand magus like Mo Yan was minimal. Still, it was better than nothing.
The relentless assault on the barriers continued. The ground trembled with each strike, and the air was thick with tension and the scent of desperation.
Emery turned to the formation master. “Senior… if you have another solution, now is the time.”
Magus Yord took a deep sigh, a heavy burden visible in his eyes. “I have a way to help us all escape this…” He glanced at the hovering Heorgar and added, “But we can’t take him with us.”
As Emery weighed their options, another stone pillar shattered, leaving only nine. They had mere minutes to make a decision.
“Do it,” Emery said decisively.
Magus Tobin quickly objected. “We can’t leave Heorgar in danger!”
Emery interrupted, his tone firm but reassuring. “Senior… don’t worry. I will stay. I still have another way to fight them. But I am worried about you and the others.”
His main concern mirrored the distress his plant creatures had experienced: Mo Yan’s spirit attack was indeed frightening, and its aftereffects still troubled his plant buddies. Among his group, only Emery had the ability to defend against such an assault. He would feel much more confident fighting the grand magus if they could escape safely.
Unlike his plant creatures, Emery couldn’t send these people into his aperture. Not only did their conflicting spirit laws of other elements pose a problem, but there was also the matter of trust. Allowing them inside his Magus Domain would render him vulnerable. Beyond his wariness of Edgar, Emery even harbored doubts about Magus Beatrice, who had known him for years.
Realizing it was the only viable solution at the moment, the formation master, Magus Yord, took charge.
“Okay, let’s prepare. Here are my instructions,” he said, turning to Edgar and adding, “You too, listen if you want to survive.”
Magus Yord decisively abandoned his attempt to recover the barrier and instead pulled out his formation tool, the square stone block. With a command, the artifact transformed into a 3-by-3-meters stone pedestal, its surface etched with multiple glowing runes. Yord rapidly formed additional runes, attaching them to the stone while continuing his instructions to the others.
Realizing what Yord was attempting, Emery felt a slight relief. He steeled himself for the next phase of the fight, knowing they had a plan.
Each second felt like an eternity as more stone pillars crumbled under the relentless assault from Mo Yan and Shen Long. The tension in the air was palpable, both sides were poised for their next moves. Finally, the last stone pillar gave way with a smoking blast.
BOOMM!!
The formation shattered, and in a swift, practiced motion, Magus Yord activated his stone pedestal artifact. The device transformed instantly, forming a mini barrier around the group that had stood inside the pedestal. Each magus inside the barrier began chanting and channeling their spirit energy, following Yord’s precise instructions to fortify the shield and then activate its second function.
“Now, FLY!!” Yord shouted.
Thank you kwarlis to remind me about the pills
