Edict of the Blade Fiend - Chapter 59
Even after witnessing Zhou Yuntian’s outburst, Zhou Yan was not affected by it even by the slightest bit. He had instead slowly unleashed a sliver of detection skill, slowly dispersing his soul’s ability. Thus this time, he was interested in knowing what Zhou Yuntian was thinking about for acting in such a rash manner.
This time, Zhou Yan was being extremely reckless with his soul’s ability and it was focused completely on Zhou Yuntian alone.
As expected, while Zhou Yuntian was cackling and the instant Zhou Yan’s soul came in contact with Zhou Yuntian, Zhou Yan was able to sense something out of place in that instant.
However, it was also in that instant, Zhou Yuntian’s expression dimmed as he kept his guard up and took a quick suspicious glance at Zhou Yan. In that moment, he had a complicated nervous expression of pure skepticism, it was as if in the previous instant, he too was able to sense something.
Zhou Yan scoffed in his heart as he noticed the nervous suspicious look on Zhou Yuntian’s face. Since all of the immense ability of his soul was graced by his master and the mutated energy from the Calamity of Lightning. Furthermore, his master was a person capable of spatial destruction; as powerful as Zhou Yuntian was, it would be impossible for him to detect the presence of his unique spiritual energy.
Zhou Yan was able to conclude that the cause of such an alarming reaction from Zhou Yuntian was because he felt something that was clearly able to see through his powers, hence raising an alarm to him.
At that moment, Zhou Yan’s heart had grown serious while he put on a facade, one with an expression where he was completely looking down on Zhou Yuntian. However, it was an undeniable fact that Zhou Yuntian was an incredibly powerful opponent, judging from his raw strength, his blood concentration and his natural gifts, just from those facts alone made Zhou Yan felt slightly uneasy, to put things into perspective, this feeling Zhou Yan felt, even if he was to use all of his trump cards, it would still be a difficult battle.
Thus, Zhou Yan had gained some insight of Zhou Yuntian’s thoughts, and had learned some secrets about his opponent, this made Zhou Yan slightly more confident.
Yes indeed, confident and grounded.
The events that were to happen this time, was all due to Zhou Yuntian’s intentions in mutating his natural gifts, fracturing it to several fragments, and it was due to this process, he had gained a hidden treasure that was probably able to split his Qi Columns.
The only results in splitting one’s Qi Columns were either the destruction of one’s Qi Column or the successful division of one’s Qi Column forming a twin Qi Column.
Zhou Yuntian had this thought for quite some time now and he had also been collecting plenty of manuscripts of swordplay alchemy and materials, just for the sole purpose of doing so.
The lad had been preparing for it for a very long time and now he was seemingly almost done and since there had been a change in the family’s dynamics, he had decided to put all of his eggs into one basket.
As Zhou Yan sensed his thoughts since Zhou Yuntian was in an enraged state, he was very easily able to grasp this message. However, it was also due to that, he felt the immense pressure from his rage.
Anyone who was willing to put his entire natural gift in line just for a bet, had already won the instant that person was determined in doing so. That was all because he had fully overcome the immense consequences of becoming a literal useless trash if he had failed.
“Just do exactly as it was planned about this matter. You guys may retreat now.”
Since the seemingly youthful Lord had noticed Zhou Yan and Zhou Yuntian were merely having a verbal squabble, he nodded delightfully and never said anything else. He had left Zhou Yan and other people to continue working on everything they were supposed to be doing.
Anything that would happen in future, Zhou Yan knew there was no need for him to be worried even for the slightest bit, since he was now in possession of the seal of the golden sword. At the very least not a single soul would dare challenge his position and status.
As Zhou Yan pondered, he proceeded to take a humble bow toward the lord along with Zhou Yin, only after doing so, the duo left the Tower of Souls with Elder Xing.
In this place, it mattered not who was present here, anyone would feel some pressure from the environment. It was an indescribable feeling of pressure, as anyone would feel the Tower of Souls was not a safe spot to linger in. Unless Zhou Yan was left without a choice, he would not willingly dwell even for a second in this area.
…
“To all pupils, all elders had reported their messages to the Elder of Lore, and the elder himself had prepared everyone’s identity tag, this will be distributed by me, Zhou Yang alone! The order shall be given from one’s natural talents ability, I shall call out your names and you will come up here to collect.
“After everything has been distributed, a pupil will come to you to show you the training ground in which you shall undergo your training…”
At this very moment in the complex, there was a young lad clad in a black combat armor standing on a pillar of light. The young lad’s eyes glimmered as he stared at the pupils from the minor branches of the Zhou family beneath him, hints of pride and arrogance were emanating from his words, this man was obviously a man of high status and power.
After the young lad was done speaking, he noticed every single pupil bowing to him, hints of delight and satisfaction flashed across his eyes as he stood above the rest of the pupils.
That was pure emotions of satisfaction as he stood above countless pupils. He enjoyed every bit of it.
Besides, this man was in possession of every single person’s information, with the right amount of threats and troubles, he would indirectly gain some form of benefits from doing so. This had always been the most favorite thing this lad enjoyed doing. Since every single pupil present here was not any spectacular genius, since, amongst these tags, none was golden or silver. This meant, even if these people were dead, the family itself would care very little to their loss!
“The useless trash you lot are, you lot didn’t even earn the golden seal, then it depends on how you lot behave this time!”
The young lad in black, Zhou Yang had a sinister grin as he thought about plenty of schemes in his heart.
…
“Senior Zhou Yang, this is a unique Spiritual Armor, it was discovered by accident from an ancient site by me. With a single glance I know Senior Zhou Yan is a man of wisdom, I hope Senior Zhou Yang would help provide guidance to me, please enlighten me to what unique properties this spiritual armor possessed.”
An elegant and stunning young lass looked directly at this young lad in black, as she had obvious hints of earning favor from that young lad through her face. It was obvious that amongst these pupils from the minor branch of the family, there would exist a few pupils who would bend the rules this way.
“Yes indeed, this spiritual armor is indeed strange, since you had so sincerely asked for it, then I as your senior shall help you study the properties of this armor, after I am fully enlightened by what knowledge this armor might hold, I shall return this armor and the secrets to you, then, you may ‘interact’ with your senior more often.”
Zhou Yang chuckled as he was incredibly satisfied in his heart.
This was the ‘ninth’ gift he had received today, he never expected these pupils who were not even worthy of the golden seal to have so many incredible artifacts in their possessions.
“Yes, then I as your pupil humbly thank you, Senior Zhou Yang.”
That maiden clad in a green dress was slightly ‘delighted’ and ’emotional’ as she spoke.
“Hahah, you may leave now, the training grounds for pupils from the Jade-Water City is located at the second westbound courtyard.”
“Ah…thank you, Senior Zhou Yang for your care!”
This young maiden was behaving reluctantly initially, however, upon hearing her training ground, her entire expression changed to a much surprised and delightful look, it was obvious that it hurt this young lass to gift her spiritual armor, however, upon being assigned a training ground, the impact of her hurt had faded away, furthermore, it was all due to being assigned a training ground, she had began to sincerely thank her Senior Zhou Yang.
Zhou Yang had a flirtatious, teasing look on his face as he spoke in his heart, “I’ve been doing this for plenty of years now, as long as you pupils were sincere in your gifts and offerings, I will do you pupils no harm.
“Or else if your hearts were unsatisfied with your offerings even if you guys were reluctantly in your gifts which would result in your desperate resistance against me, this would bring no benefit to me as well.”
As he pondered in his heart, he had called out to another group of people.
This time, it was the pupils from Canglan City.
“Canglan City? Canglan City…the city where the hound Zhou Wangchen hailed from!”
As the young lad called out these names, the young lad’s expression grew bitter, since it was painfully obvious that not only did the young lad hated this city, he had absolutely resented this entire city!
However, the young lad had not expressed his resentment.
“I, as your pupil, Zhou Lingyao is humbled to meet Senior Zhou Yang.”
As Zhou Lingyao approached him, he was followed by Zhou Lingyi, Zhou Xian and the other people in their group.
“Just you alone assume you are worthy of addressing me as Senior Zhou Yang? Oh, not bad it seems, you have two segments in your Qi Column, you are still a genius regardless! However, none of you lot are given a golden seal, although you have a bronze seal instead, however, you lot seems weaker than the other pupils of our family…Have I made a mistake? A lad within a trash realm of a swordsman is here just to fill in the quota?
“You lot shall head to the twenty-ninth southernmost training grounds.”
“The southern area? Isn’t that spot for the weakest pupils of the family? That spot is known for keeping beasts, how could we…”
As Zhou Xian heard such a statement, his voice had suddenly increased in volume, it sounded slightly sharp.
“What’s wrong? Displeased with your arrangement? You intend to challenge me by your display of insolence?!”
As Zhou Yang glared at Zhou Xian, after a single cold scoff, Zhou Yan felt as if his entire body had been struck by lightning as he instantly began to cough out puddles of blood and it seemed he had completely lost control of his body, he knelt on the ground instantly.
“Hahahah, you lot from Canglan City are all nothing but a bunch of trash, normally would only end up bending your knees whilst coughing up blood! Just like that lad, Zhou Wangchen, his arrogance was impeccable, however, in the face of a truly powerful genius, he had been beaten to the extent of actually coughing out blood whilst kneeling with a single attack!”
Zhou Yang cackled, however, he realized the entire atmosphere around the area had grown weird.
Plenty of pupils were staring at him with surprise, fear, and absolute terrified gaze, it seemed as if he had committed… an insurmountable mistake.
Zhou Yang was unconsciously surprised and afraid in his heart, however as he glanced at the pupil that he had punished in great detail, that pupil was merely in possession of three segments of a single Qi Column and there was nothing too special about it… Could it possibly be due to an unknown powerful force behind these people that he was unaware of?
He had grown increasingly nervous, as the pupils around him were staring at him with ‘shock’ and ‘fear’, had made him even more uptight.
However, as he looked at the wounded Zhou Xian that was kneeling on the ground that was persistently gritting his teeth as even his lips were completely swollen red from biting down too hard, he pridefully scoffed at him and said, “What’s the matter, do you still intend to fight me? To have ill thoughts about me? I will for a fact kill you where you knelt, and there is nothing you can do about it!
“Hmph, you don’t know courtesy nor respect, if you are unwilling to head to the southernmost area, then, by all means refuse to go. Stay here and wait for the grips of death to take you then!”
Zhou Yang had deduced the situation in secret as these people had a possibility of being abnormal, however, upon knowing the full extent of these people were merely worthy of a couple of bronze seals, he had instantly relaxed and calmed down.
…
Zhou Xian had felt an insurmountable amount of humiliation as the biggest hope he wished for was his cousin, Zhou Yan to be present here at this moment and if he was, everything would be better for him.
This was the first time in the entire span of his life that he realized his own cousin was better than him in plenty of aspects.
