Electra 1 How It Begin - 7 Chapter 7
I woke up in a hospital bed. I could tell I was still in a Storm building because the logo was on the door. I felt tiered and angry. I could feel the space around me getting warmer. I didn’t try to get away, I just lay there. Letting everything and everyone around me do what they wanted. The heat died down and I became aware of Slither standing in front of me. He shook his head as if to say he was disappointed in me, then he left. As soon as the commander gave the word I was back in the room I had last seen. I stayed in bed by strict orders from everyone. The boys took it in turns to make sure I stayed in bed at all times. The doctors had no idea why I collapsed at all and nor could my brothers. Every now and then I thought I saw Slither. It was for about 30 seconds and he was gone. I didn’t tell anyone about him, until Tommy came in and saw Slither. “No, it’s not time yet.” I heard him say.
“What’s wrong? Why are you so worried?” I asked.
“Promise me that you won’t talk to Slither, understand?” He replied and I nodded back. At last for an hour each day I got left alone. Slither came and talked to me he said, “So now you know, can you control your powers?”
“I’m not sure. I don’t think so.” I replied.
“Have they told you about where I come from or what I do?” He asked. I shook my head in reply. “Do you want some answers?” I nodded. I didn’t want answers, I needed them and fast. He held out his hand and I took it. The boys came in just as I took hold of it. “Let her go! We are training her. She doesn’t need you at all!” Alex shouted. I nodded again and he squeezed my hand. We were in water but I could breath, and we were out again, in a completely different place. I was still bone dry and so was Slither. What on earth had just happened? I tried to make sense of my surroundings. It looked like a shopping centre. It had various types of patterned doors. One had all types of snakes on, but was mainly green. Another was boarded up, but you could just make out the clouds on it. The one we were heading to was black and a crown in the middle. Above each door there were painted signs saying Portal to… and a name. The name of the one we were heading to, Peaceaver. I heard an ambulance behind me and I turned and looked. It came out of the door with snakes in and straight to Peaceaver. We stood back to give them more space to go in. We went in after they had got through. As we went in I felt a surge of power run straight through me. As we came out on the other side, I was wearing a skirt that came just above the knee. I had electric blue leggings and blue top on. The black skirt had a belt that was joined by a lightning bolt in the middle. My hair had a blue strip on one side, that was done up in a small plait. I still had my black boots on, but they were cleaner. We didn’t stop; we carried on to a tall building. Peaceaver HQ was a tall black building and they didn’t bother to hide the fact that it was to do with spies. It looked like a normal city with shops, houses and schools. When we got to the HQ there were all types of things going on. There seemed to be 100 different floors. Some went below ground level. Slither still said nothing and we went to the top floor. The top floor was full of offices all in separate rooms leading off. I followed Slither to the end office and he knocked. A voice came back and told them to come in. “Is this Electra?” Someone asked.
“Yes, this is the girl. The organisation has already found her and she knows most of her history.” Slither replied. The chair span around and a woman was sitting there. She had a blue top and black boots and black leggings on. She had brown hair with blue strips in like mine. “Hi, I’m head of Peaceaver, Flame.” She said.
“I would tell you my name, but you already know.” I replied with a smile. I wanted some answers, any answers. Where I was, how I got my powers, how did everyone know me? There were so many questions I wanted answers for, and I knew that they had the answers. Flame and Slither talked while I looked around. There was a picture of my mum and Flame together smiling. In their hands they held a key each and a certificate for science. There was another picture of her by herself in the office they were in now. She was still happy, but not as happy. “Electra, how much do you know?” Asked Flame.
“Up to the part about Slither, no one said anything about him or about this place.” I replied.
“Slither is a personal trainer for people like you. Your parents don’t like the way we train now, so your parents taught your older brothers the old way. Loki and you needed our training because you are twins.” Flame said.
“That’s why the storm happened. Your parents didn’t know what you were capable of but we did. I’ve been keeping an eye on you to help you. Your anger was strong so you had to know the truth.” Slither continued. There was an alarm and a screen appeared. It was of the main part where the door to Peaceaver is. People were there, one at each door putting some sort of force field up. Others were around the intruders with fire or some other element in their hands. The intruders didn’t seem surprised at what was going on. At first I thought it was organisation Storm, but it wasn’t all of them. Then I thought it was my brothers, but it wasn’t. There were some guards from OS but commander Obsidian wasn’t there. One of the guards shouted out that they had a massage for the commander of Peaceaver. Flame said she would only hear the massage if they had no weapons. They agreed and were taken to her office. One had a rain cloud over his head and didn’t look happy about it. I remembered what Loki had done when I had first met them properly. “Still not worn off yet then?” I asked. Slither and Flame shoot me a warning look. I just gave an innocent little look but a sneaky smile. The guards registered me as Electra Storm and looked like they were ready to grab me at any moment. I backed over to Slither as some protection. Although I knew what I was capable of and who I really was, I didn’t know how to use my powers properly. One of the Peaceaver guards came in and whispered something into Slithers ear. He went and Flame seemed to understand what was going on. I looked at Flame, but her face was a mask. I didn’t know who I was supposed to go with. “You stay here Electra.” Flame said. I stayed where I was and stared out of the window. Then I heard my name and I turned around. “Electra stays here. She doesn’t know what she is to become, so tell your boss that she stays.” Flame finished.
“You know how easily we got here; we can bring a whole army here to destroy everything you work so hard to protect.” One of the guards said. I had no idea what they were going on about, and I don’t think they were going to stop and tell me. I kept listening in to try and understand what they were talking about and why it was about me. Flames voice sounded concerned and made up at the same time. I was deep in thought and I heard my name being called. “You decide.”
“Decide what?” I asked in reply.
“If you stay here and find out all the answers to your questions, or to go with them, and who knows what they would do to you.”
“We will give her a chance to live a normal life.” The guard said. “What by taking away her magic and crown?”
“What crown are we on about here?” I asked. I looked into Flames eyes and there was no way to hide that she just let out a massive secret. This was a secret that was key to my past, and future. I was confused and I am sure my eyes and face gave that away. “I don’t know. I don’t know what you mean about my crown. I don’t know if I want to go back to having parents that hate me.” I said. What should I chose? To find out who I am or, to live a normal life? I couldn’t decide what to do. I wanted to run away, to anywhere but this meeting. The head of Peaceaver seemed to understand and said I should go to the very bottom floor and train.
