Electra 1 How It Begin - 9 Chapter 9

I went back to school and everything was fine. No one asked any questions and the day went by fast. Instead of going home after school I was told to meet Slither. I stayed behind for a while at the end of the day to talk to Amy and Bethan. I told them what had happened and they stared at me in disbelief. I showed them me turning into a fox and they didn’t seem surprised. They said that no matter what or who I was they would still be my friends. I didn’t tell them the part of being a princess as that would make things different by the way they treated me. When I found Slither he was waiting in a wood. “I thought we could go for a run before we went to Peaceaver.” He shifted in to a snake and slithered in the leaves. I ran and shifted into a fox to join him. We went around the whole of the woods at least ten times before we shifted back. We went to Peaceaver and went to see Flame. Flame was there with Mr. Dare. I tried to sneak off but Slither pushed me forward. “I believe you two know each other so let’s get on with it. Electra, you have the power to choose your advisers. Do you want Mr. Dare to be the head?” Flame asked. I shook my head. She went through a long list of names of past advisers that could help me rule. I shook my head at every single one of them. “You have to have at least two. Who are they going to be?” Slither asked.

“You and Flame. You are the only people I can truly trust, so I would like you to be my advisers.” I replied.

“No. This is not allowed. If you do not choose then I will.” Mr. Dare said. “Actually it is allowed.” Flame said. She was holding a book about the rules of appointing advisers. It said that anyone that the princess or queen chooses is one. She has to have at least one and can have as many as she likes. I smiled knowing I had got my own way. Mr. Dare stormed out saying that it was unacceptable and there were rules to follow. I followed the rules and had two advisers that I could trust. They went through another long list on what they and the rest of the realms expected of us. Mainly it was to protect the realms and help with any problems. However there were only a few people that knew I was a princess. Slither said that the people have to know at some point. After an hour, we had finished and they agreed I needed a bit of training. We went to the bottom floor and went to the biggest room there. It was like the other rooms only bigger and more dummies to hit. We sat down and I showed them what I already knew. Although my magic was out of control I had a good aim. First Flame taught me some simple breathing exercises to relax me when I was stressed. That way my magic wouldn’t mix with my emotions much. Then she taught me how to make a lightning bolt and control it in my hand. Slither then took over and we practiced hand to hand combat. George and Jonathan came in and joined in to. “You should have some friends whilst training, it makes it more fun.” Slither said. It was even better now they were here and I wondered who had suggested it. ‘I did.’ Said a voice in my head and I knew it was George’s. I smiled and continued to train. It was past 6 o’ clock when we finished and I had to stay in Peaceaver. I was fine with that and glad to stay. If I went home everyone would be in danger and my parents would kill me. I did all homework that needed to be done as there was not much else I could do. I went on Facebook and talked to my friends for a bit. They were really interested to find out what I had been doing and I told them about the boys. I retold them about my brothers and they couldn’t wait to meet them. My parents came on line and I quickly turned off. I couldn’t handle them moaning at me. I went to bed at 9 and got up to a loud banging sound around 6 in the morning. “What the hell are you doing?” I shouted.

“Get up. We have to go to school soon.” George replied. I smiled knowing it was him. But he said we have to go to school soon not just me. I got ready and Slither took me and the boys to school. He met the head and said that his sons needed a school and the head said it was fine. I gave them a tour of the school and hardly any one was in. All the teachers were and they just smiled at me and I waved back. “So why are you here?” I asked.

“You need protection and no one will suspect a couple of school boys.” Jonathan said. I laughed as they pulled funny faces all the way back to Slither. The head walked off and Slither face was serious. “You two are brothers and it’s up to you how you know Electra. As far as anyone is concerned you moved from further up the coast and have been home schooled for their whole lives.” Slither said.

“I have a good idea of how we know each other. We are boyfriend and girlfriend.” George said. Slither nodded and I think I started to blush. I didn’t know what time it was and the bell for tutor went. We walked together and some girls just looked at me and then looked at the boys. When we got to tutor there was the usual ask the new kids questions. No one asked how we knew each other until Alice came in. Alice is the most popular kid in the year group and she gets every boy she wants. We hadn’t told anyone that we went out because no one asked. They were more interested in the after school clubs they would do. “Go on, how do you know each other? You two are brothers, but how do you know Electra?” She asked. “I go out with Electra.” George replied. I felt myself go red with embarrassment. I turned and saw the annoyance in Alice as she sat down. Word travels fast and by break the whole school knew. At break I was with Amy and Bethan on a table in the agora. The boys came over and sat down. George was looking at them and I could tell he was reading their minds. We were just talking about anything and everything we could think of. Then George said we needed to talk. “How can you tell them about your magic?” He asked.

“They are my best friends; I can’t hide it from them.” I replied. “You shouldn’t read their minds.”

“They were about to ask if we had magic.” He replied. We walked back over and they did ask if they had magic. I told them the truth of how they are my protectors because someone was after me. After what I had done they didn’t seem surprised. We got through the rest of the school day fine and at the end of the day we went to meet Slither. We didn’t have time for a run today and went straight to Peaceaver. We didn’t tell them about telling my best friends. We got on with training and learned how to aim properly. Then we did hand to hand combat with Slither. Flame had to go because she had a meeting to attend on the future of Peaceaver. She would have to tell the Peaceaver council that there was an heir to the throne. About half an hour after she went, she came back. “This is princess Electra of Peaceaver.” Flame said. I stood there and looked like a normal girl that had no magic. I knew who they were but I didn’t want them here. I went and met them and acted polite and I had good thoughts in my brain just in case they were mind readers. It only lasted a few minutes as she took them out to discuss other things that were happening. I let out a big sigh of relief and then hit the dummy.
