Electrify - Volume 1 Chapter 16
Sindri, lead me to the rainbow Bridge and had Heimdall open a portal to Nidavallir.
“Maxwell, the weapon will take a days to complete. Should I expect you to came here and collect it?” Sindri asked and I shook my head.
“There is no need, I can come with you and have a look at that place. You can tell me when the weapon would be completed and I will portal there.” I said.
“Hoh, adept at magic as well. Fine, follow me.” He said and we walked through the bifrost.
In mere moments we were at the place. However it wasn’t what I was expecting, it wall were made of black metal while the entire place was moving. I could hear distant sounds of hammers striking. I looked around for a few moments and looked back at Sindri.
“Maxwell, come back here in 21 days.” Sindri said and looked at me.
I nodded at him and opened a portal to the observation room right in front of Heimdall. I looked back at Sindri through the portal and saw him smiling while Heimdall was less than happy. Although, he didn’t say anything, I could feel his discomfort at me being here. I didn’t say anything and simply flew towards the place. While, flying there I saw Fiore practicing her archery along with another armored woman. While, I was flying above them, Fiore turned around and shot an arrow at me. I shook my head and caught it. I flew down and offered it to her and she took it away with a huff.
“I here that Fiore was defeated by you hands.” The other woman asked.
“It was a spar. There was no concept of winning, only to get better.” I said wise. “and yes.” I added at the end.
The woman chuckled and playfully punched me in the shoulder. I would have found that nice except that I was throw flying about 50 meters away. I was back in front of her in mere moment but they both saw what happened. Fiore was laughing while the other woman was only smiling.
“That was not very nice.” I said.
Although, I wasn’t pouting but I felt as though I was.
“Hah, defeated by a tap to the shoulder.” Fiore said while wiping tears from her eyes. “Sif, I owe you a favor.”
“Maxwell, I was merely jesting, don’t take any of it to heart.” Sif said.
“It is fine.” I said and I was about to make a joke but something distracted me.
I immediately looked towards the bifrost, about a kilometer away from it, there was an energy source there. I turned on my vision and saw that there was a flier in the shape of a butterfly blat with a glowing core at the center of it. It flew slowing towards the city but Heimdall took it down with a small dagger.
“Sif, how good it Asgardian response to an invasion?” I asked while looking at another huge ship that just came up on the horizon.
“Very.” She said and ran towards a flying boat and took off.
“Fiore, have you killed someone yet?” I asked the red head.
“No.” She said and looked as the fly was filled with explosions and AA cover fire.
“Join, the ground units and cover any hot spots. Be merciless to them.” I said as electricity began to shroud my body.
I placed myself between the place and the oncoming spacesh.i.p.s. The sword glowed in my hands as I avoided the shot fired and shoved the sword deep into the spot with highest energy. I spent up and began to move from one ship to another while repeating the same maneuver. One ship even tried to kamikaze me but I was far to quick to even be caught by the explosion. My take downs of the sh.i.p.s in such a quick manner lead to them employing a different strategy.
The largest ship release a swarm of palm sized robots that began to follow me. The even surrounded the sips near me and when ever I got close they would either form an energy shield or explode in a shrapnel grenade like manner in order to injure me.
While, I was busy dealing with that, Asgard had a security feature around the palace which was a huge shield. I was impressed as it took on fire and missiles from many sh.i.p.s and didn’t budge. My joy was short lived as the Shield retracted back and a few flier went near the palace. Thankfully, they were not anywhere near Jane’s location so I concentrated back on the sh.i.p.s that were focusing their fire at me. While, the battle was getting harsher and bloodied, I didn’t paid much attention to Jane’s location. I was busy, dodging point blank explosions and gunfire.
They had established a good counter against me in the form of flashbangs and smoke alongside the mini suicide bots. I was still slowly whittling down their numbers but it was no longer as effective as before. I was impressed by the fluid tactics they had employed, their chain of command was spectacularly effective. I finished off another ship and landed towards a group of elves who were shooting at a few soldiers. The soldiers while defending successfully, didn’t have much room to charge as they were outnumbered. I grinned at the situation and before the group of elves could even register my presence I had already cut them down. I picked up their weapons and placed them in my pouch and after that it was rinse and repeat. The grenade was especially overpowered as I saw it literally imploded a bunch of soldiers and their weapon into nothing. By the time I had finished off a section of city I was already packing around a thousand grenades and an odd 60 guns.
“Brother, that was amazing.”
“Find me after the battle.”
“For Asgard.”
The soldiers and civilians cheered me on as the rest of the elves retreated into other areas. I could only nod at the cheering and rush off to another area. It was the markets and there were fliers and ground battles happening at the same time. I saw Frandal and Fiore fighting a group of 70 soldiers by themselves while the soldiers helped the civilians retreat. I rushed at the group and decapitated everyone while also stealing their weapons. Fiore and Frandal were surprised as their mouths were agape. I gestured both of them to follow me and we rushed to another area to offer support.
We reached this area and immediately roots and thorns grew and began to swallow the elves, while Frandal used his swords to cut down any that were free. I flew to the sky and began to clear out the few sh.i.p.s.
Then there was an explosion, followed by a blast of lightning that could only be described as godly, the largest ship in an illogically swift manner came closer and took one smaller ship and vanished. Although, I could still see the ship in the distance as it retreated, but I didn’t bother to after it because there was another immediate threat. The rest of the elves as if acting under a different leader began to fire and fight as if they were prepared for death. Six of then even gathered around and tried to make one elf bigger some how, but I felt the black magic and immediately decapitated that group along with the affected elf. There was no way I was letting then transform into a bomb or worse. The rest of the time we were hunting down stragglers and the few final units that were trying to cause as much damage before their deaths.
Once, the battle was over someone brought out a huge barrel of mead and all the soldiers took a drink. Everyone cheered and hollered, while I found a secluded corner and found Jane’s location again. I was right beside where the ship entered the palace. I looked at the place and found that they were raising a bright silver flag. The cheers immediately died down and Fiore rushed towards the palace. While chased after her and we didn’t stop till we reached the royal quarters of the queen. Odin was kneeling with Frigga in his hands. Thor was had tears rolling down his eyes and so did Jane. Fiore rushed at the sight of her and began to cry. After about 15 minutes Odin picked her up and began to walk towards the lake nearest to the palace. He walked slowly and his gaze never left his wife. The civilians fell to their knees and soldier stood with their weapons to the sky. We walked straight to the bay and placed Frigga on a luxurious boat. Other maids came and began to perform rituals and added flowers and decorations to the boat.
While everyone else left to get cleaned up and dressed, Odin stood there stoically. Servants and maids would offer him food and drink but he didn’t even see them, his gaze never left Frigga. The night came and finally, Frigga along with all the other martyrs were sent to sail, flaming arrows were shot to alight the boat while all the Asgardian raised their hands in prayer.
While some drowns themselves in alcohol, others mourned their losses, only a few slept well that night. The next morning the guards were searching for one prisoner who has apparently kidnapped Thor and Jane, and has vanished from the realms. A few guards questioned me and swiftly left. I decided that it was enough distraction and it was time to go home. I headed straight towards the bifrost but a guard came and led to the throne room instead. Odin was sitting on the throne but he looked weaker, almost as if suffering from an injury.
“Maxwell, days ago Frigga and I had a few words, she asked me to manipulate you into taking Frigga to earth as a guide trough her journey. I do not want to play around till you come to an understanding. What I did was simply, Fiore will be following you and helping you in your adventures and work whether you like it or not. As to how she goes about doing that, will be up to you should you guide her, or up to her, should you ignore her.” He said that and a beam originated from his eye and entered mine.
“What did you do?” I said as I raised my power to the maximum.
Odin simply looked at me and a new information entered my head. It was a spell, if I concentrated hard enough I could see another room and a few hands that were neatly placing bows, seeds and arrows into a chest. In also knew that this was happening in exactly was direction. I looked at the hands and recognized them. This was Fiore and I was looking through her eyes.
“And Fiore has the same spell implanted in her soul as well.” Odin said and closed his eye.
I was slightly angry but I also could sympathize with him. He was only trying to do what his wife asked of him. I sighed and left without a word. I went to the bridge and waited for Fiore to arrive. She came with a huge chest that was floating behind her and she looked at me. I could see that she didn’t like me all that much.
“We need to come to an arrangement.” I said and we entered the bifrost at the same time.
“My orders are simple. I will assist you on your endeavors.” She said though gritted teeth.
I looked around a saw that we were in front of the Queens base. I lead Fiore to a high level executive suite and showed her around the base. There was a section solely dedicated to clothing and makeup, for better spying. Then finally we entered the cafeteria.
“Fiore, I know that your father has ordered you here but if we hell each other the experience will be better.” I asked and offered her some pizza.
“Yes, do tell me how this will be any better.” She said as she looked at the greasy food in front of her.
“Do you how to infiltrate an enemy and how to disable them from the inside?” I asked and she looked at me.
“Why would I need to infiltrate anything if I came simply destroy it.” She said and took a bite of the pizza.
“So, you would kill everyone because they are simply standing beside your enemy.” I asked and she shook her head.
Fiore could the food quite fascinating and took a few more bite is succession.
“I know how to operate as an enemy inside enemy line, how to look like them and talk like them.” I said and she nodded. “Basically I have a few skill that might help you and may be I can learn a few from you as well.”
She looked at me and looked at my untouched pizza. I slid my plate in front of her and she accepted. We ate in silence and I had to stop her from smashing her plate in appreciation. Afterwards we went to the shooting gallery where she looked at the displayed guns in confusion.
“How good are you at archery?” I asked and she summoned her bow.
“Very.” She said arrogantly.
The next hour was spent as she nailed all the targets and we proceeded to live target practice with me as the target. During this I realized that Fiore was almost as good as Barton, but she was better in one aspect though, she had an unlimited supply of arrows. Which made her a bit careless about the way she used them. We stopped after a while and headed to the gym area.
“How do you have so many arrows?” I asked and Fiore smirked.
“Well, I only have one original arrow and I replicate it continuously.” She said and looked at me as I picked up a dumbbell. “How are you so fast?”
“I used electricity to boost my self but I is more complicated than that. I have telekinesis and ability to fly which is used in tangent for speed.” I explained and she frowned.
She turned and began to walk away but I stopped her and handed her a phone. She took it and looked at it in confusion.
“TACT, teach her about phone and answer all her question below A9 clearance.” I said and the phone lit up.
“Certainly, Mr. Maxwell.” TACT said though the device.
“Is this a communication device?” She asked me.
“Yes, and more. It basically has nearly all the knowledge the mankind has to offer, a source of entertainment and a recording device.” I said and her nodded. ” TACT is a program designed to help. He is not a human or an alien.” I continued.
She nodded again and left. I went to the main conference hall and began to review the data collected. All the portal were accounted for and so far only a few unsuspecting birds and rats had gone through a few portals. There were also sightings of nine visible ones and they seem to be converging in Greenwich, London. I sighed and asked TACT to send me any information if something slips into our world. A portal later, I was at Kamartaj and it was quiet. I walked to the main chambers and saw that the ancient one was meditating.
“Was your trip to Asgard fruitful?” She asked and I nodded. “Then are you here about Greenwich? Or is it about the Asgardian that seems to have become a long term resident of Earth?”
“It is about Greenwich.” I said and she opened her eyes.
She looked at me from head to toe with her gaze resting at my hand a few moments longer. Guess I couldn’t hide Amatsu at all.
“Malekeith will fail regardless of your interference.” She said and waved her hand.
There was a green light and she showed me a picture of Malekeith with both his hands gone and a look of horror on his face.
“How do you know this?” I asked and she smiled.
“The eye of Agamotto houses a piece of creation, the infinity stone of time. With it a skilled user can do many things.” She said.
“The infinity stone?” I asked and she waved her hand again.
It was a projection of thought. It showed me a dark space till there was a huge explosion.
“The origin point. When the universe was born, six shards or pieces of divinity were born alongside it. One for each representation of the universe. The space, the time, the reality, the power, the mind and the soul. These stones don’t just represent these concepts, they embody them. There is not time with out the time stone. And there is not reality without the reality stone or as you know it, the Aether.” She said and let the projection fade.
That raised many alarms inside me and all I could think off was the fact that, I let it behind on an already power race with another race gunning for it for clearly nefarious purposes. F.u.c.k. I rushed outside and opened a portal to the Bifrost. Heimdall looked at me in annoyances but didn’t say anything. I turned on the tracker but it was out of range I flew near the palace but it was still out of range. Maybe Odin knows about this. With that though, I rushed to the palace and hurried to the throne room.
“Boy, tell me why you are here again?” Odin said as he opened his eye to look at me.
“Did you know about the stones?” I asked and he stood up.
“How do you have this knowledge?” He roared out.
“I am a sorcerer.” I said and he visibly relaxed.
“Then that bald woman must have told you. Yes, I knew.” He said and took a seat again.
“Where is Jane?”
“She is not on this world, and so are both my sons. Maybe he found a way to remove it.” Odin said and sighed.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a glowing orb and tossed it at me. I caught it and look at it closely. It had a flame inside it that glowed beautifully.
“It is for that little serpent.” He said and gestured me to leave.
I headed out side and portaled back to earth. I went back to the safe house and contacted Peter.
“Where the hell have you been?” I yelled as soon as I heard him pick up the phone.
“I was tied up in a prior engagement.” He said and cleared his throat. “What’s up?”
“Well, dip shit. I was off world, went to Asgard picked up a mythical beast as a pet, fought through another invasion, and I an currently dealing with a world ending crisis.” I yelled.
“Wow, I got trapped in the negative zone and had fight of some space monkeys.” He said with a sigh. “Your adventures sound cooler.”
“F.u.c.k, that. Tell me where are you right now.” I said and he sent me a location.
He was on top of a high rise building and was nervously walking around. I landed in front of him and punched him in the guts.
“Trapped in an alternate dimension.” I growled and hit him again.
“Hey, I was trying to save the team.” He said and dodged.
“Fine. I want detail on my private server. There is about to be a doomsday event about to go down at Greenwich London. I am going there.” I said and waited for to follow me.
“Yeah, about that. I can’t leave NY for a week. Reed needs to run some test to check if I am okay.” He said and jumped back gaining some distance.
“Make that report hand written and tell Reed that he better send the report to me as well.” I said and opened a portal to Greenwich.
