Electrify - Volume 1 Chapter 23
This time we were headed to an all American restaurant. After an argument over how pizza was not a date food and there are more delicious foods. We settled for a sea food dish, with some potatoes and a lot of other beefy goodness. It was a good meal and we had fun, we talked about the different species of our worlds and a few hilarious work situations. It was a nice evening but Fiore was expecting another off world adventure.
“Well, I feel a bit weird about not fighting some alien monsters.” Fiore said as we sat on the same bench as last time.
“Aliens don’t just drop from the sky you know.” I said and smiled at her.
“You can’t expect a kiss after a half date.” Fiore said with a blush.
*Boom*
With a nicely sized explosion, Fiore and I were through about 30 meters back. I looked back at the crater and a saw a huge, nearly 20meters wide rock. It was still glowing from re-entry and from what I could tell, it housed a creature inside it.
A portal opened beside us and a sorceress walked through it. She looked at the rock and began to conjure huge barrier around us.
“Maxwell, that is a Wyvern. It is a magical creature, if it has come to this plane then it must have been banished and it will attack with an element it is aligned to. I will keep the barrier and you slay it as soon as it comes out of the Boulder.” She said and flew up and sealed the barrier from out side.
“This is more like it. Good food, good fight and good company.” Fiore said as she manifested her armor but I was more interested in what she said and there was no way that was the original saying.
“This is just a coincidence, this on not the norm of what dating is. Don’t expect this the next time.” I said and pulled out my uniform from my pouch.
I sped up and got in the armor in a few moments and strapped my three swords to the side. We looked a the rock and soon, a crack appeared inside it. I unsheathed the plasma sword and held it by the side. The crack widened and a scaled claw came though and began to break the stone it was encased in. Fiore began to form roots around the Boulder and waited for the creature to emerge before attacking. As the dust settled and the creature finally broke through the last of its confines, we were finally able to take a good look at it. It had a muscular but lithe body with Reddish-brown scales covering it from head to toes. It also had a pair of wings on it’s back, and as it stretched them out, they unfolded to a whooping 30meters. It finally looked at us and it’s eyes narrowed. It roared in our direction with enough strength to take us off our foot. Seeing that it had failed to intimidate us, It slammed its claw on the ground and two spikes came out in front of us and tried to impale us through our heads. It was fast, and very efficient way to end a fight and if we were not as skilled, we would have been dead.
It roared at us again, but a few vine snapped its mouth shut. Fiore had begun to encase it in wood. I could also see a few roots trying to burrow into its skin but with little success. I ran over to it elongated neck and sliced it clean off. However, to my surprise, there was dust and sand flowing out of the cut instead of blood. I looked back at the fallen head of the creature but it turned in mud and dust and so did it body.
“Fiore, make a high platform.” I yelled at her and almost immediately a huge tree with a flat top began to rise from the ground taking Fiore up as it rose.
I turned on my electric vision and saw the Wyvern underground. It looked like it was swimming through the earth and it was heading right at me. It neared my location and opened it’s mouth to attack me, but instead it released some energy that took the shape of it head and broke through he ground and attacked me. I cut it into many pieces and the Wyvern who was heading towards Fiore stopped and looked at my location. The ground shook and multitudes of pikes and blades began to shoot out from the ground.
I was glad that the barrier extended underground as well, because other wise this would be an avengers level situation. I looked at the Wyvern again and was trying to find a way to get it out of the ground, but anything I do here will leave an irreparable damage and that would be really bad. It also took a few minutes to harass Fiore as well, keeping us both on our toes. May be if it is close enough to the surface, I could freeze its movement by impairing the electrical impulse in it nerves. I took to the skies and had to lift up Fiore as well. The Wyvern destroyed all the plants Fiore had made and finally came near the surface and released a clone made of earth. It would have fooled just about anyone but me because I literally could see it in action.
“Fiore, once I launch my attack it will be frozen for sometime, so can you pull it out of the ground with your plants.” I asked and she nodded.
“Yes, but you need to show me the location.” She said and we waited for it to near the surface.
Once, it was about 10 meters deep, I short circuited it’s nerves and it began to uncontrollably spasm. This in turn opened a crack directly above it and a few roots pulled it out of the ground. When, the dust had settled, I saw what my attack had done. It’s muscles had torn up in bunch of places, while some of it claws were bent in the opposite direction and the poor things neck was twisted in such fashion that I sighed and immediately chopped off its head. Nothing should feel what it must have felt right then. That attack amplifies, all senses, while severely impairing all motor functions. If the victim tries to move in that state, their action will be amplified beyond all control. So, if it tried to open its claws, the muscles responsible for that movement will contract with enough power to dislocate the claw or break themselves while the pain receptors will be sending out incomprehensible amounts of pain. I tried this once on a sever rat and it died due to it heart and diaphragm being ruptured.
I looked at the downed Wyvern and sighed. This is not a way to go and I will need to take my control to a molecular level if I even hope to master this. Fiore came beside me and looked at corpse.
“What was that attack at the end?” She asked and got paler as I began to explain.
“Such, a technique should be labeled as a forbidden one. It cause unnecessary amount of pain and for the result that could be achieved with much less.” The woman said and vanished with the head of the beast.
I felt Frost was a bit restless inside the tattoo and I let him out. He bee lined towards the corpse and began to feast on the body. I called out Amatsu to see if he was interested in the body and he was uninterested to the extreme and didn’t even fully get out of the tattoo before returning into it. Fiore and I sat down in the bench she made out of wood and merely looked at the Wraith as it devoured more meat that it’s entire body.
“Such a nice date.” Fiore said and I looked at her.
“It was great until we had to fight a giant interdimensional monster.” I complained and she giggled.
“I thought you enjoyed fighting.” Fiore said as she leaned on me.
“Well, I do but I also enjoy just spending time in peace and quiet.” I said and she narrowed her eyes.
“You just want to make out.” She said and I nodded. “We can go back to the base and make out there.”
“Yes, but I wanted to do it here, but it’s like a stream of bad luck when we are together.” I said and looked back at the dead creature.
“That is probably because of the curse.” She said nonchalantly.
“Excuse me? What curse?” I said and looked at her.
“The Asgardian curse. When ever one of the Asgardians go out on the journey, we are cursed with bad luck. It is an ancient curse and exists within all Asgardians, it will activate randomly and creatures of great powers or random encounters are attracted to us.” She said with a shrug.
“That sound dangerous, inconsistent and stupid.” I said and she smirked.
“Just shut up and kiss me.” She said and we kissed.
While, we were lost in our kiss, we missed that part where the Wyvern was glowing. It was only after we heard Frost roar at the dead body did we notice. I immediately called back Frost and he stood in front of us ready to pounce on what ever but I just sighed. If he wasn’t stuffed to the point where he looked like a over stuffed piata, he would have looked really cool but as of now he looks really stupid and cute. The glow on the Wyvern’s corpse was receding back into it self and I could see that there was a huge amount of energy building up inside of its abdominal area. The energy seemed stable and not like a type that would cause an explosion. This happened for at least fifteen more minutes before all the energy was coalesced into the shape of an egg, a huge egg the size of a basket ball. I put Frost back inside the tattoo before anything could out of control and watched keenly as the egg materialized inside the corpse. I went closer to the body and slit open the abdomen and took the egg out. The egg was a dark grey color but as soon as I touched it, it took one a blue tint with streaks of neon blue materialized on it.
I just looked at the egg and sighed, whether I like it or not I was heading down the road for either a beast master or a beast Shaman and since, I would never sacrifice either of my pets, beast master it is. Fiore looked at the egg and sighed.
“You have a weird affinity with animals.” She said.
“You can control plants, you can’t say I have weird powers.” I said and she narrowed her eyes at me.
“I am literally creating life.” She said and crossed her hands below her b.r.e.a.s.ts.
“Yeah, yeah. Help me out here.” I said.
We then began to clean up he area where the blood had spattered and I stored the body away for further inspection. We headed back to the base and cleaned up, however I wasn’t able to sleep on the account of being frustrated by what Fiore had said. An ancient curse that attracts trouble, how much energy does that even require or what does that actually affect? Some sort of quantum probability, fate, time, as my thoughts were going deeper into disarray, I heard a knock on the door.
“It’s open.” I yelled and Fiore entered my room with a worried look.
“Why are you so worked up? I cannot sleep with you being like this.” She said and folded her arms.
“You need to isolate the spell to be further from these influences.” I said and got up from my bed.
I slept shirtless with either boxers or shorts. My state of undress caused Fiore to blush but stubborn as she is, she didn’t look away. Fiore was in her pajamas with her hair open, she looked really nice. I came closer to her and we made out till me fell asleep on my bed. The next morning was quite a scene to wake up to. Fiore was holding me closely and during the night her shirt was unbuttoned, so yes her b.o.o.b.s were firmly pressed against me. I tried to move away but she didn’t let go, Asgardian strength even during sleep was nothing to scoff at.
“Fiore, wake up.” I said and she stirred a bit. “Fiore, or I will kiss you again.” I said and she loosed her grip.
I got up and looked back at Fiore, this turned out to be a solid mistake because for the next half an hour I was sporting a raging boner. I would take a cold shower but I doubt even the icy water of Antarctica can cool me off because of my powers. After a morning workout, I was I the cafeteria when Fiore entered, she looked fresh and dressed for her job at the construction Site, but her light blush seemed significantly hoter than before. She grabbed a plate of food and sat down opposite to me. We ate in silence for most of your meal.
“So, did you sleep well?” I asked and her nodded.
“Did you?” she asked and I nodded with a smile.
“How could I not with someone like you beside me.” I said.
“Stop that, I am trying to eat.” She said with a huff and hurriedly finished her meal.
We both finished our food and went outside but before we could separate I kissed her quickly and flew away. My mood was better for the first few minutes of my job at the Shield but it turned sour as I began to read case files and started to assign missions. After a few hour of mind numbingly boring paper work, I was at the cave. Steve’s samples were pretty useful because I had found out that the Vita rays were a type of ionizing radiation which had served to juice up Steve. The serum itself was an enhancer but the Vita rays played a huge part in the energy supply area. Though, it was a good news because I basically had all the energy I could ever need but I was still nowhere closer to recreating the serum. Peter’s parents had tried and gotten really close but it was in the end a different version of SS serum. This actually provided many insights into how to approach the real serum.
On the other hand, the extremis virus was turning out to a real head ache, mainly because it is already near it’s full potential and much of my changes will lower it’s potency. The only way I could improve on it was to design it specifically for me, that way I could lower millions of variables. The only problem with this was quiet simple, my DNA was proving a bit of a bitch to map out. My cells were only stable inside my body and that was the problem.
“Sir, Carl Lucas made an appearance on the local News last night.” TACT informed me.
“Keep an eye on him.” I said and returned back to work.
I was trying not to interfere with the plot too much, but I suspected that the events that happened on earth were far too altered from what I had scene. Peter was already a badass without Tony’s intervention, Hydra was already on its knees, and an infinity stone was in my hands. Things were not going to play out as I know them and it seems that my knowledge was pretty much on useful as a reference. Thankfully, the lower their heroes like Dare devil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones were not affected too much. Danny Rand’s story should play out the same as the series with almost no change, mainly due to him being in a different dimension.
There was also a difference in this time line. Sindri was a dwarf from an entirely different pantheon. Since, he was here, can I assume that the ghost of Sparta was running around somewhere? So many, questions.
With nothing but bothering questions plaguing my mind, I meditated and got back to the serums. Even with a mystical spell backing my intelligence, my progress was slow but if what I am doing is correct, then I could be throwing around super speed punches without the fear of missing limbs. While, I was working on the Serums, I got a call from Fury.
“Kid, I need you to get here. I have a problem.” Fury said and hung up.
Even though, he is not the director anymore, he still retained all the benefits of ordering me around nonetheless. I head to the HQ and there were three more faces in the briefing room. Steve, Natasha and Clint, all of them were surprised at my presence but nodded in acknowledgment.
“There has been situation in India. An unidentified flying object has been spotted in the city of Hyderabad. People have been missing and we only have one image to go off of.” Fury said and pointed at the screen.
An imaged of what could only be described as a werewolf. The thing was standing nearly 3 meters tall on it hind legs and it clearly had five clawed fingers and a meter long tail. It eyes were showing intelligence and it was face was like that of a wolf.
“That is a were wolf.” Clint said
“I know that reference.” Steve immediately pointed out with a smile.
“Next thing you know, vampires are a thing.” Natasha said and Fury smirked at her. “No.”
“Vampires exist.” Fury said with a nod and looked back at the screen. “You will be in air in 2 hours, the mission will have no time line and there will be no back up. Any questions?”
“Can I bring my partner?” I asked and that earned a look from all of them.
“Maxwell, we didn’t know you even had emotions you robotic bastard.” Clint said and laughed.
“it is not who I think it is?” Fury said rubbing his forehead. “Fine, she could be of help.”
With that done, I called up Fiore and talked to her about the mission and she agreed to help. With a few portals and half an hour, we were all at the hangar.
“Why do you even need a plane? You can fly.” Fiore asked as we were loading up.
“I can but why should I spend that much effort while I can sit closely with you.” I said with a nod and she blushed.
“No need for such frivolous activities while we are on a mission.” She said but the small smile on her face told me differently.
“OK, enough flirting you two.” Clint yelled at us and called us over.
Fiore, had seen Clint’s and was dying to get in a competition of sorts but since we were busy loading munitions and medical supplies that was more or less put on hold. However, that changed when Clint was her bow. Half an hour later, every in the hangar that could be shot at sagely were shot. They were both a 100% accurate in the confines of this hangar but we had them both stop before thing went really out of hand. Clint had even admitted to being jealous over the infinite arrows and that inflated a bit of Fiore’s ego. I sighed and distracted her with a quick kiss.
