Emperor's Reckoning - Chapter 1123: Enigma Falls
1123 Enigma Falls
“What makes you think that you’re worthy to face me?” Lyon revealed a playful smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement. Grond’s lips twitched, and he grudgingly said, “That’s what I like to hear.” With a swift motion, he raised his massive axe before swinging it downward.
The incredible momentum of the swing caught everyone by surprise. Grond’s attack launched a shockwave that repelled the light rain, creating a temporary barrier against the droplets. The forceful motion and the ensuing impact sent ripples through the air, and the eyes of the onlookers widened in astonishment.
The clash between the Zodiac Emperor and the Giant warrior had begun, and the first strike was a powerful display of strength that left the crowd on the edge of their seats. Some shielded their eyes from the rainwater splashed by the shockwave, while others couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer force unleashed in the opening move.
Grond raised one of his massive brows, his eyes narrowing as Lyon stood seemingly unscathed. However, a closer look revealed that the Zodiac Emperor was encased in a protective barrier of thick roots. The roots had sprung out from the ground, wrapping Lyon in a cocoon of natural defense.
The onlookers gasped at the sight, their eyes widening as they witnessed Lyon’s unique ability to command the elements. The axe, with all its might, was halted to an entire stop by the thickness of the roots. Grond’s expression shifted from surprise to frustration as he struggled against the unexpected resistance.
Lyon, with a calm demeanor, looked directly at Grond. “You’ll need more than that,” he remarked, his voice carrying a confident tone despite the ongoing clash.
The onlookers, including the mesmerized bartender, were in a state of bewilderment. Their eyes struggled to comprehend the extraordinary display of power unfolding before them. Whispers and hushed murmurs permeated the air as they tried to make sense of Lyon’s abilities.
The bartender, with a noticeable gulp, turned to a fellow onlooker. “Did he just… claim the forest?” he muttered, the realization dawning on him. The once-dreadful forest now seemed to bow to the Zodiac Emperor’s command.
The crowd exchanged uncertain glances, unsure of what to make of this unexpected turn of events. The rain continued to fall, casting a surreal atmosphere over the scene. The ongoing battle between Lyon and Grond added an extra layer of intrigue, leaving the onlookers on the edge of their seats.
Grond, undeterred by the initial resistance, swung his axe with increased intensity. Each strike created shockwaves that sent ripples through the air, yet the formidable roots remained steadfast, absorbing the force with unwavering resilience.
His frustration mounting, Grond unleashed a barrage of relentless slashes, aiming to overpower Lyon’s defense. The onlookers watched in awe as the giant’s mighty blows collided with the unyielding roots, creating a spectacle of raw power clashing against nature’s defense.
In the midst of the chaotic onslaught, Grond growled, “Stubborn roots! Yield!” His voice echoed through the clearing, a testament to his determination to break through Lyon’s formidable defense. Lyon, protected by the mystical roots, stood unfazed, a calm and almost playful expression on his face.
Lyon, with a calm yet authoritative demeanor, extended his hand toward the colossal roots. “Move,” he commanded. The roots, as if responding to his will, crumpled and twisted, creating a warning tension in the air. Then, with a sudden release, the tension propelled Grond upward with tremendous force, crashing him into the dark clouds above. The impact created a temporary hole in the cloud cover, allowing rays of sunlight to pierce through.
The onlookers stood in stunned disbelief, their expressions ranging from amazement to sheer astonishment. Murmurs of awe swept through the crowd as Lyon’s display of power left an indelible mark on their minds. The bartender, wiping a wet glass absentmindedly, muttered, “Zodiac Emperor… truly a force of nature.”
Lyon, with a subtle yet commanding gesture, twisted his wrist and raised two fingers upward. “Lead, to Enigma Falls,” he uttered. The ground beneath him and his companions trembled, responding to Lyon’s unspoken command. Thicker roots emerged, gracefully lifting them into the air. The onlookers below could only watch in awe as the Zodiac Emperor and his companions ascended, leaving them with lips gaped and eyes wide.
Murmurs of astonishment rippled through the crowd, and one onlooker exclaimed, “Did you see that? The forest itself obeys him!” Another whispered, “Enigma Falls… is he planning to challenge that place now!?” The once-ordinary afternoon had transformed into a spectacle of extraordinary power, and the onlookers couldn’t help but feel the weight of witnessing history unfold before their eyes.
Above the clouds, Lyon and his companions traversed the sky, carried by the thick roots that emerged from the ground at Lyon’s command. Thaedan, the druid patriarch of Greenleaf, marveled at the unprecedented experience. “By the roots of the ancient trees,” he whispered, “this is beyond my wildest imaginings.”
Karina, known for her prowess in combat, couldn’t hide her astonishment. “Lyon, this is incredible! How are you doing this?”
Lyon, his eyes focused on the distant horizon, responded calmly, “The forest responds to my will. It recognizes me as its master.” The wind whispered through the leaves, and the entire scene unfolded like a mythical journey through the heavens. The group continued their ascent, leaving the clouds beneath them and the Third Hell realm sprawling beneath.
As they soared higher, Lyon’s thoughts were consumed by the revelation about Maria, the Benevolent Empress, and the connection to Minx. The anticipation for the encounter at Enigma Falls added a layer of intensity to the already surreal journey through the skies.
As Lyon and his companions descended from the sky, piercing through the clouds, a breathtaking view unfolded beneath them. Enigma Falls revealed itself in all its splendor—a realm of everchanging landscapes, shifting illusions, and mesmerizing beauty. The cascading waterfalls created a symphony of soothing sounds that echoed through the vast expanse.
Thaedan, his eyes wide with wonder, couldn’t help but express his awe, “Enigma Falls, a place where reality dances with illusions. It’s said that even time itself is uncertain here.”
Karina, her senses heightened by the mystical surroundings, added, “This is unlike any other place I’ve seen. The legends don’t do it justice.”
Lyon, maintaining his focus on the unfolding scenery, remarked, “Stay vigilant. Uncle Minx might have woven his tricks into the very fabric of this place. We need to be careful.”
The group continued their descent, approaching the enigmatic realm with a mix of anticipation and caution. The air seemed charged with magic, and the very atmosphere resonated with the mysteries that Enigma Falls held.
The ancient tree’s voice echoed through the air, reaching Lyon and his companions. “I apologize, but my influence does not extend beyond this point. Enigma Falls is a realm beyond my reach, and venturing further may lead to unforeseen consequences.”
Thaedan, acknowledging the limitations, nodded and said, “Thank you for guiding us this far. We will proceed with caution from here.”
Cecile, her eyes scanning the mysterious landscape, added, “We tread into the unknown. Be prepared for anything, and stay close.”
The ancient tree’s branches rustled softly as if offering a parting blessing, and Lyon, with determination in his eyes, led the group deeper into the enchanting domain of Enigma Falls. The atmosphere grew more surreal, and the very air seemed to pulse with hidden secrets waiting to be unraveled.
Cecile raised a cautious eyebrow as the group ventured further into the realm, the air thick with an otherworldly essence. “Be wary, everyone,” she warned, her voice carrying a hint of concern. “Enigma Falls is known for its illusions. We might find ourselves separated or facing deceptive challenges.”
Thaedan nodded in agreement, his druidic senses attuned to the subtle shifts in the environment. “Illusions can play tricks on the mind. Stay close, and let’s rely on each other to navigate through this mysterious landscape.”
Lyon turned to Rui, seeking guidance in the face of the upcoming encounter with Minx. “Mother, is there anything you can tell me about Uncle Minx that might help us in this situation?” n.-OIn
Rui considered Lyon’s question, her expression pensive. “That rodent is a master of talismans and runes. His deceptive nature knows no bounds. You, Lyon, know him better than anyone. Remember his tactics, be cautious of his tricks, and watch out for any talismans or runes he might employ. That’s where his true power lies.”
Lyon nodded solemnly, absorbing Rui’s advice. “Thank you, Mother. I’ll keep that in mind. Let’s proceed with caution, everyone. Minx won’t make this easy for us.”
Lyon’s excitement radiated through his smirk as he confidently stepped forward, the landscape before him immediately transformed, unfolding into the breathtaking scenery of a towering waterfall, its cascading waters glistening under the ethereal light.
“Enigma Falls,” Lyon mused, his voice laced with a mix of anticipation and curiosity. “Quite the illusion, but I won’t lose, Uncle Minx, give me your best sh—” The ground beneath him suddenly erupted in a dazzling light, catching him off guard. Before anyone could react, he was propelled forward, his entire being disappearing through the cascading waters of the waterfall. The unexpected turn of events left his companions momentarily stunned.
“Emperor!” Thaedan called out, a mixture of concern and amusement in his voice. “Is this part of the illusion?”
Cecile chuckled, “Seems like even the mighty Zodiac Emperor isn’t immune to Enigma Falls’ tricks.”
Kesya grinned, “Well, that’s one way to make an entrance.”
The group exchanged glances, unsure of what awaited them beyond the waterfall.
