Empress Of The Lost Kingdom - Chapter 217
As the time slipped away, the rain clouds over the skies of the X city poured down heavily.
The eerie corridors of the city hospital, echoed with loud footsteps, when Zhang Zhi Jun walked towards the emergency care room, holding a paper bag in his hands.
He stopped at the waiting area of the ER and looked at the wary figure of Li Juan sitting with Ahn Lu Shan and Yang Xiong in absolute silence.
Soon after Tang Wei Sheng has collapsed, his assistants took him to the hospital since they were worried something wrong might have happened to their boss.
Zhang Zhi Jun took out the coffee cups from the paper bag and distributed them.
“Did you go out in this rain?” Li Juan inquired as she took the coffee from him.
“Nah…Xiao Hong brought it before going back to the hotel,” Zhang Zhi Jun took a seat beside Li Juan and reported in a low voice.
“It’s done,” He informed that Ning Jing’s dead body has been carefully taken care by alpha team.
“Hmm…First brother, if you want to leave,” Li Juan swept a glance across the closed glass doors and replied. “You can..,”
“I told you, I will stay,” He said with a faint smile and sipped the coffee as he reclined on the seat.
Yang Xiong who was listening to their conversation, turned towards Li Juan and opened his mouth after hesitating for a while,
“Miss Li, it’s okay to leave. We are here and once young master wakes up, we will let you know,” He suggested in a tired voice.
It was already midnight and there weren’t any signs of the heavy rain to stop. He felt that Li Juan didn’t have to wait until Tang Wei Sheng wakes up.
“Anyway he won’t remember a thing when he wakes up,” Yang Xiong said with downcasted eyes and fidgeted with the car key.
Li Juan was about to refute him when her eyes landed on the car key in Yang Xiong’s hands.
It was the same key that had a small wolf plushie attached to it.
When Yang Xiong noticed Li Juan’s eyes on the wolf plushie, his lips curl into a tender smile.
“Ah…It’s young master’s. He got a thing for plushie toys,” Yang Xiong said while extending the key to her.
“Hmm,” Li Juan nodded and took the key from him. The plushie toy was more than a decade older, however, thanks to its owner, it appeared good as new.
“I don’t know where he finds it, but his house is filled with plushie toys,” Yang Xiong explained as he removed the glass and kept it aside before taking a sip from his coffee.
“It’s weird, isn’t it? for someone who appears brutal and overbearing outside, he is a bit childish to obsess over silly things,”
“The little things that appear silly to us might be important for someone else,” Ahn Lu Shan added as his gaze lazily swept over Li Juan whose eyes were glued to the wolf plushie.
“I’m sorry to ask,” All of sudden, Zhang Zhi Jun dived into their conversation, “but back then CEO Tang seemed a little off, what exactly happened to him?” He asked while trying to recollect the change he witnessed in Tang Wei Sheng’s behaviour.
“Dissociative identity disorder,” Yang Xiong retaliated with an emotionless face, “It is a mental disorder that is likely to happen to people who had severe mental or physical trauma in childhood, which results in the appearance of two or more distinct personalities that continually overpower the person’s behaviour,” He gave a textbook explanation.
“Wait a minute, he has multiple personalities?” Zhang Zhi Jun’s eyes widened as he blurted out in disbelief,
“Does he knows about his other personalities?” He went on asking when he got introduced to something he hasn’t experienced in real life.
“Yes, he knows and even undergone therapy while he was abroad, but unfortunately it didn’t work,” Yang Xiong sounded glum as he spoke.
“Of course it won’t work if you have a family who doesn’t think of it is a mental disorder, but as a blessing,” Ahn Lu Shan made a condescending comment, when he remembered how Tang family has treated their only son as a sacrificial goat rather than providing him proper medical care.
“Well, some people can’t accept that their child is mentally ill, but I don’t understand the logic behind Tang family’s decision to consider his medical condition as a blessing? Aren’t they a little bit concerned about his well-being?” Zhang Zhi Jun unknowingly raised his voice as he shared his views.
“Tang family belongs to an ancient cult tribe who believes and worships some kind of wolf God,” Yang Xiong began to explain indifferently,
“They believe that the wolf God resides in the soul of a chosen male. Due to the presence of an alter ego, young master is seen as a chosen one and they treats him as the representative of wolf god who brings wealth and prosperity, the human vessel of the God,”
“What bullshit are you talking, Yang?” Ahn Lu Shan snarled, “God? Human vessel? They brutally tortured a boy and turned him into a mental patient in the name of their stupid beliefs,” He refuted in contempt. Even after working for the Tang family, for more than twenty-six years, he couldn’t adjust to their weird beliefs and rules.
“It didn’t make any sense in the beginning. However, as time went by, I have seen the Tang family and others idolizing young master’s alter ego whom he tried hard to conceal and control, ” Yang Xiong shared whatever he knew about Tang Wei Sheng.
“Is there any cure for him?” Zhang Zhi Jun turned curious.
“No. Other than keeping his temper under control, medicines don’t leave much effect on him. But there are some people, places and certain things that can temporarily prevent his conditions from getting worse,” Yang Xiong concluded and glanced at Li Juan who is one among the people who fell into the category of the cure.
“Like changing his attention to something else?” Zhang Zhi Jun’s voice heard again.
“Well, it highly depends upon the people and situation around him. If there is a stressful and hostile situation, his alter ego will be extremely powerful and dangerous when he takes over young master. There were instances when he almost beat people to death. On the other hand, if young master is drunk or in a less conscious state, Wei Lang appears and leaves after wandering here and there for a while,” Yang Xiong shared his observations.
“Wei Lang? Is that his alternate personality?” Zhang Zhi Jun asked with a tint of surprise. He suddenly recalled Li Juan addressing Tang Wei Sheng by that title.
‘Don’t tell me, she already knows about Tang Wei Sheng mental disorder and broke up with him because of it,” He said inwardly.
“Hmm, Wei Lang…it is the name of their Wolf God. Whenever his alternate personality takes over, young master considers himself as a wolf who is in search of his moon. He believes that only she can bring peace to his chaotic soul,” Yang Xiong elaborated.
The moment Zhang Zhi Jun heard the word Moon, he subconsciously turned to look at Li Juan, various doubts bubbling inside his mind.
“The wolf thinks himself above all and takes no order from anyone. Even young master’s family obeys him whenever he transforms to Wei Lang. However, recently I came to know that there is someone whom young master treats equal,” Yang Xiong reportedly told.
“Who?” Zhang Zhi Jun automatically asked even though Li Juan’s name rang in his mind.
He was also someone who belonged to an ancient tribe that lives by weird rules and beliefs. Though he didn’t wholeheartedly believe in the capabilities of the Lunar maiden, Zhang Zhi Jun was well informed about the myth of the moon goddess and the wolf god behind the creation of the Yu clan.
If he tries to read between the lines, there is a high chance for Li Juan, who is the descendant of Lunar maiden to be able to put an end to the chaos of the Tang Wei Sheng’s wolf.
As Zhang Zhi Jun’s thoughts ran wild, Yang Xiong opened his mouth and revealed a name that no one has expected to hear.
“CEO Lee,”
“Lee Tae Yang?” Zhang Zhi Jun repeated as if he heard it wrong and exchanged glances with Li Juan who appeared equally surprised, “Her fiance?”
“Hmm, yes. To be honest, I was totally against those two meeting each other. Since miss Li is the common factor that connects them, I was scared that CEO Lee might trigger Wei Lang and create some huge trouble. But to my surprise, after that meeting there were some significant changes in young master’s behaviour,” Yang Xiong declared with a smile and finished his coffee, “I heard that CEO Lee is also a doctor,”
“But was he a psychologist? I thought he was a neurologist?” Zhang Zhi Jun looked at Li Juan in doubt,
“Neurologist,” She answered in a low voice.
“Psychologist or not, CEO Lee is the only person who dared to advise young master to search for the reasons for Wei Lang’s appearance and urged him to confront the problems rather than running away from it. And young master listened to him without any second thoughts. Once everything gets settled, young master was preparing to step down from his CEO position and get treated even though, there weren’t any hope for him,” Yang Xiong sounded desolate as he pursed his lips to avoid blaming anyone.
“In the end, the person who accepted young master’s true self and helped him was someone who was supposed to have animosity towards him,” Ahn Lu Shan let out a bitter laugh at the wicked fate of Tang Wei Sheng.
“Well, one thing that confuses me is CEO Tang’s appearance. He appears too normal for a person with a problematic mental condition. If I haven’t witnessed with my eyes, I would’ve never believed that he has an alter ego,” Zhang Zhi Jun scratched his chin and divulged into whatever he knew about Tang Wei Sheng. “Ahhh, I heard it from someone that CEO Tang used to be gentle and amicable in school, but one day, all of sudden, he changed and even ended up ghosting his own friends,”
“Where did you hear this?” Yang Xiong asked in an agitated tone, “Did his “so-called” childhood friends said this?”
“Yang Xiong,” Ahn Lu Shan stopped his junior who was about to argue with Zhang Zhi Jun.
“If you heard it from those people, then they must have blamed somebody else along with young master,” Yang Xiong sneered in anger and avoided looking at Li Juan.
From what he heard, the day Tang Wei Sheng stood for Li Juan against his friends who wronged her, turned out to be the last day of his friendship with them as well.
“Young master doesn’t have any friends nor he is close enough to anyone to share his problems,” Yang Xiong stated in an infuriated tone. “There is no wonder, he kept ghosting everyone since of all them did nothing but hate and avoid him in contempt and fear. No one, not even people who claimed to love him couldn’t accept his truth,” Yang Xiong lashed out his pent up anger before them and indirectly blamed Li Juan.
“As a person who has witnessed his sufferings, I’ll never blame him or Wei Lang for being tyrannical. What others received from him is exactly what they have given him. That’s Karma…you will reap what you sow,” Yang Xiong brawled like an old man.
“Yaaa, shut it,” Ahn Lu Shan tried to stop Yang Xiong who was on the verge of a breakdown.
“No, senior Ahn, don’t stop me. Do you think this is fair? Those who put him in such a pathetic condition is living happily and what about him? Every day, he is living in torment. Do you think he will ever be able to lead a normal life like others? No, never,”
Even though Yang Xiong tried hard to control himself from crying, at last, he ended up in tears. He couldn’t simply digest the fact that Tang Wei Sheng ended up murdering someone for Li Juan, who practically moved on with her life.
Though Li Juan appeared aloof, Yang Xiong’s words thrusts deeply into her heart, like icy daggers.
He didn’t quote anyone’s name, yet she knew that she was also a reason for Tang Wei Sheng’s tormented life.
All of sudden, the door of ER got open and the duty doctor walked out.
“Doctor, how’s he?” Ahn Lu Shan sprang up from his seat and asked.
“There is a high chance that he fainted due to the stress and fatigue. But the thing that concerns me the most, is his fluctuating consciousness. He is awake on one moment, but slips into sleep the very next moment. By the way, who is Lily,” The doctor inquired and swept a glance at the only woman in the group.
“It’s me,” Li Juan answered.
“Patient was mumbling your name in barely conscious state. Why don’t you try calling him and wake him?”
Li Juan looked at Tang Wei Sheng’s assistants for a moment and then walked towards the closed ER room without any hesitation.
