Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 153
Feng Huan grunted and stormed away from her. The more he tries to talk to her, the more she is trying to drive him into complete madness. It felt like she was doing it intentionally. They weren’t going to have a normal conversation.
It was best to calm down and take action later! He doesn’t even know why he wants to have a normal conversation with her.
He was walking, but he didn’t hear Xiong Jingfei following him back inside the building. Wasn’t she the one who wanted to walk away first? There also wasn’t another pathway back inside beside the one he was on.
When he turned his head back around, Xiong Jingfei was standing in the same spot but wasn’t looking at him. She suddenly lifted up her blouse and revealed a purple coloring on her pale skin.
That wasn’t the only mark. There were other bruises on her body too, some already healing and some freshly made.
Feng Huan felt an uncomfortable tinge hit him, why does she have so many bruises? Don’t tell me she blocked her stomach because she knew Xiong Changchang would aim there? A place where no one will see them… Sigh!
“Are you seriously this weak?” Feng Huan roared, charging back at her. “Do I need to teach you how to fight others?”
Xiong Jingfei thought he left already, why the hell did he turn back around? She quickly pulled down her blouse.
Feng Huan’s ears reddened, besides seeing the bruises. The sight of her slim and curvy waist was imprinted in his head. He gritted his teeth, “Do you not have any decency as a lady?”
She didn’t look as fl.u.s.tered as Feng Huan, even though it was her body being exposed and not his. In a nonchalant voice, “Oh? I thought you left already. Did you get a good look?”
Her sharp tongue! Feng Huan rubbed his temples, this damn brat!
“You immoral woman!” Feng Huan hissed. Where did the graceful Xiong Jingfei go? The elegant woman his friends wouldn’t stop complimenting about was nowhere to be seen.
Xiong Jingfei rolled her eyes at him again. Tsk, graceful and ladylike manners was an image her father created. Somehow, she felt that there was no need to fake it for Feng Huan.
“I didn’t know young master Feng was such an innocent girl. Pft, you probably do worse things in your bedroom that cannot be spoken about.” Xiong Jingfei giggled in a way that was mocking him. “Which century did you pop out from? I’m sure you watched things that were considered immoral. You know, like po-”
“Stop!” Feng Huan shouted, his mouth almost dropped. Does she have no filter? Why didn’t she use that smart mouth of hers against Xiong Changchang earlier!
He doesn’t know what happened, but his mouth opened and said, “Be my friend.”
Xiong Jingfei’s disgusted face returned for a brief second and readjusted itself. How did they go from ‘I don’t like you’ to ‘be my friend’?
She pressed her hands to her cheeks, pretending to be concerned for him. “Young master Feng, are you sure it was Xiong Changchang who kicked me and not you?”
Feng Huan also couldn’t believe those words came from him, but it was more embarrassing to deny them. Why is he doing things so out of character today!
He made up a passable excuse, “You don’t want to? It comes with many advantages.”
She dropped her hands to her sides. Why did that sentence sound pretty familiar? Did she hear someone else use them before, is that why?
“Yes, I don’t want to be your friend.” Xiong Jingfei answered, twirling her hair with her fingers. “What are we? In pre-school and asking each other to be friends.”
“Why?” Feng Huan returned back to his cold exterior self. He wasn’t sure why Xiong Jingfei denied all the help he was willing to give her.
By asking her to become his friend, it was more of an honor than anything else. It wasn’t every day that he personally ask someone to become his friend. It was always the other way around, and he was the person who always denied them. Those people befriending him were using him for connections and benefits.
That’s why he was close to Zhao Fan. She didn’t have a reason to use Feng Huan to benefit herself.
He laid both connections and benefits on the table for Xiong Jingfei, but she still rejected him. It was his first time on the receiving end, so he wanted to know the reason why.
Xiong Jingfei didn’t need anyone to pity her situation. It was also better off that Feng Huan and her weren’t friends. She saw the way Xiong Changchang was looking at him. It will spark a fit of love jealousy that she doesn’t want to be a part of.
She half-assed the excuse, “Men and women should not be friends.”
“Are you serious?” Feng Huan at least made an effort with his excuse, but hers… “Now it’s you! What century did you pop out from?”
There was an eerily quietness between them, then both of them burst out laughing. Yes, seriously. Where are these old-fashioned sayings and thinking coming from?
“Okay, let’s be friends.” Xiong Jingfei agreed, extending out her hand for a seal in their new friendship.
Feng Huan gave her a rare smile that even Zhao Fan never got a chance to see. Then he shook her hand to officially seal their new friendship.
Even without saying it out loud, both of them felt like they found a long lost friend, and Feng Huan found the person he has been looking for.
Unfortunately for him, his “ghost” was always lingering not too far away.
Zhao Fan broke the twig she was clenching onto, cursing, “Stupid Xiong Changchang, she can’t even do one simple job!”
Xiong Jingfei, you and I were not meant to be together in the world. You and Feng Huan were never supposed to have met or talked to each other. Why are you stealing the attention of the person I’ve been waiting for!
I waited all this time for him to turn my way, but he saw me nothing more than a childhood friend or a younger sister. However, one talk of mentioning you, his gaze follows you wherever you are!
“I will make sure to destroy you.” Zhao Fan vowed, as plans brewed inside her fierce eyes.
