Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 154
Feng Huan woke up once again, and he was still in the same position he knocked out in.
He caught a fever because of his endless night of backtracking to what happened almost five years ago. He used his resources to backtrack, but no answer came up for him. It was like someone had already gone ahead and deleted all possible evidence of what happened that night.
He wants to find out the truth about how Xiong Jingfei knew which hotel he’ll be at with Zhao Fan. It would explain how he did something, not like him, and how he ended up on the same bed as Zhao Fan?
He was indeed angry at Xiong Jingfei, but it doesn’t mean he would go for Zhao Fan. He never saw Zhao Fan in that kind of way, and if he did, why would he wait until he was already dating Xiong Jingfei? None of it was making any sense to him.
That day, he woke up with a headache, similar to the one he had now. Xiong Jingfei was in the room, and Zhao Fan was n.a.k.e.d right next to him.
He went out with his friends that day because he was angry at Xiong Jingfei for lying to him. He never invited Zhao Fan, but she showed up on her own. Still… He doesn’t get how he was drinking to end up sleeping with Zhao Fan?
Feeling ashamed and couldn’t think, he told Xiong Jingfei that they should break up. It wasn’t until he saw Xiong Jingfei cry that he knew he truly hurt her. She didn’t cry during all those times Xiong Changchang did those things to her, but she did when she saw him in bed with Zhao Fan.
His head cleared immediately!
He wanted to chase after her, but Zhao Fan was holding onto him, crying that he promised to take responsibility for her. He couldn’t remember what happened! Did he really take advantage of Zhao Fan, his childhood friend, and couldn’t remember anything?
After that, he stayed by Zhao Fan’s side due to feeling guilty and took care of her. He did try contacting Xiong Jingfei, but she cut off all ties with him and disappeared for the past five years.
He rolled over, there is only one person who can give him the answers he wants, but she would never give it up easily. Zhao Fan…
“Sir, are you alright?”
Feng Huan opened his sleepy eyes and found himself back in that shabby old restaurant. The jars that were once filled with wine were now emptied and scattered around the table. He didn’t feel fully sober, but he questioned how he got back here again? Did he fall asleep again?
“Sir, we are closing soon.” The owner of the restaurant owner said impatiently but was still polite to him.
That’s because Feng Huan didn’t dress and looked like a commoner. He had to be careful in case Feng Huan was someone of high ranking.
“Leave him be.”
A female voice said as she entered through the restaurant doors. Someone else followed in the woman who spoke too.
Feng Huan immediately woke up, and his alertness returned as he observed the woman slowly approach him. She and the other person were covered from head to toe with a black cloak, but he will recognize that voice anywhere.
He watched and listened as the sound of her wet shoes hit the stone floor. Feng Huan doesn’t know how long he slept, but the clear sky from this evening was pouring over the area.
“Excuse me? We are closing.” The restaurant owner spoke, trying to reason things out between both of them. How can they just expect him to leave his restaurant open after closing hours for them?
The person who followed the woman handed the owner a gold tael. The owner wasn’t going to complain anymore, so he hurriedly left them alone. Once he was gone, that person quickly closed the doors and all the windows. Not letting anyone see or hear them.
“Huan, why are you drinking?” The woman standing across from him sat down and attempted to touch Feng Huan’s hands. What is he doing here alone when he just returned back from battle?
The Feng Huan watching this didn’t know why, but he just knew he hated this person! He didn’t want her to touch him, but he was no in control of the body he was in.
Thankfully, in a drunken state, the body still managed to pull his hand away from her. But, he accidentally hit the empty jars causing them to go hurtling down onto the stone floor.
The woman was startled and pulled back her hands. She removed her hood and revealed the face that Feng Huan once loved, but now it was nothing more than a reminder of resentment.
“Do you really hate me?” Zhao Fan’s voice went quiet with a hint of sadness. Her eyes dripped with tears as it traced down her beautiful face, “Huan, won’t you forgive me this one time?”
Feng Huan clenched his hands, he heard these exact same lines from Zhao Fan not too long ago… Except, this Zhao Fan was dressed differently, not of modern times. She was dressed like those that were passing him by on the road, but more lavish.
Zhao Fan knew she made a mistake not long after she married her husband. All she received was the title of his wife, but she was just like those other women her husband brought home.
She thought that if she had everything… The feeling of being loved was something she could care less about. She didn’t actually believe she would feel lonely staying in that big manor.
Was it truly lonely, though?
Zhao Fan’s husband at first was loving and kind towards her, but in a short amount of time, he began showing his true character. His l.u.s.t couldn’t be contained as he brings in a new woman each night. In their own home, he brought them in to have fun during the night.
She despised those shameless women who made love to her husband! Zhao Fan hated her husband more by bringing those women into their home. Her home! Not giving her a shred of dignity! How can she not hate them?
She knows those women are nothing more than his toy for the night. So she has down many unspeakable deeds to those women. They didn’t even have to spend the night with her husband because Zhao Fan will make sure to take care of them first.
Any woman who spent the night with her husband, she will force poison down their throat so they will never bear his children. To dare think these women could be of equal to her!
It was just like Zhao Fan assumed, her husband didn’t care for those women as he was aware of what she did. That was up until recently… He found a woman he had been fond of dearly, but that woman was nothing more than a lowly commoner!
