Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 159
Wen Yingyue took a step back away from Xiong Jingfei, “I-it was nothing… I don’t know why I did it.”
Who would believe it was nothing? However, Yang Zheyan’s concern was on Xiong Jingfei, and her attention was not exactly on Wen Yingyue. It was like she was looking at Wen Yingyue but not at her, either.
“I apologize for pushing you…” Wen Yingyue sincerely apologized, but her heartbeat didn’t slow down and only beat more rapidly. Putting on a weak smile, “Brother Zheyan, you know I didn’t do it on purpose, right? If you’re angry, please punish me.”
Xiong Jingfei touched Yang Zheyan’s hands that were resting on her shoulders. How can she ask for Yang Zheyan’s forgiveness when she did it to her? It wasn’t Yang Zheyan that got pushed away.
“Brother Zheyan-”
“Let’s go sit down.” Yang Zheyan cut off Wen Yingyue but added in a smile.
He didn’t appear to be upset at her, so Wen Yingyue calmed down and nodded her head. There is no way Yang Zheyan will ever get angry at her. He never raised his voice at her when she caused him trouble, and he let her do whatever she wanted when they were kids. At least, this means he still placed her somewhere in his heart.
Yang Zheyan held Xiong Jingfei’s hand back, “Come, darling~.”
Wen Yingyue clenched her limited edition dress. She kept that friendly smile on, but she was envious of Xiong Jingfei. She wanted to hold Yang Zheyan’s hands too, but that was something she wasn’t allowed to do.
When she was a child, she was warned over and over that she is not allowed to touch him.
One time she got angry at him, so she ended up touching him, but she didn’t think he would instantly break out. She thought Yang Zheyan was going to die, and it was the first time she got scared for someone else’s sake.
Growing up, she has been sheltered all her life. So seeing Yang Zheyan, someone she cared for about to die because of what she did. It scared her for life that he cannot be touched by another woman.
She thought it was a good thing because no one can have him. Yet, something Wen Yingyue carefully tried not to come in contact with. Someone else was able to do it easily!
At the table, there was a harmonious atmosphere between Song Liqin and Wen Yingyue. Yang Zheyan occasionally made side comments because his mother was trying to pull him in.
While Xiong Jingfei quietly stared at Wen Yingyue. Everything about Wen Yingyue was exactly like the Wen Yingyue in her dreams… She prayed and hoped the Wen Yingyue sitting across from her wouldn’t say her name is Wen Yingyue. What is she going to do now?
“Ying, it’s been so long since all three of us last sat down together like this.” Song Liqin said. She was pretty much saying this was something done often before Xiong Jingfei came into the picture. “You must have missed home food being away? You should eat more, you’re too skinny.”
“Yes, aunty… I missed your food the most.” Wen Yingyue flattered Song Liqin and ended it with her charming killer smile.
“Aiyo, you and your sweet mouth.” Song Liqin laughed like she was genuinely touched by those words.
Xiong Jingfei wasn’t sure if this was a family dinner or a date between Song Liqin and Wen Yingyue.
“Son, don’t you know how to treat your guest?” Song Liqin flickered her eyes at Yang Zheyan, hinting him to put some food on Wen Yingyue’s plate.
“Aunty…” Wen Yingyue shyly looked away, as she waited for Yang Zheyan to follow his mother’s order.
“You’re right, mother.” Yang Zheyan picked up a tender beef slice.
Wen Yingyue patiently waited for him to give it to her. Creating a small space on her plate for that beef slice.
“Here you go, darling~.” Yang Zheyan put it on Xiong Jingfei’s plate. “I have been rude by neglecting to give you any food. Look at you, so skinny!”
All three of them watched as Yang Zheyan picked up another beef slice.
Wen Yingyue begged on the inside that it would be for her this time, but it went straight on Xiong Jingfei’s plate.
“Son!” Song Liqin was bewildered at his actions. He didn’t do what she wanted, but did the exact opposite!
Yang Zheyan did exactly like what his mother wanted. However, she didn’t specify which guest. Technically, Xiong Jingfei is a guest until her name is registered into their family.
“B-brother Zheyan and sister Jingfei really love each, isn’t that right, aunty?” Wen Yingyue said, picking up a sliced beef and putting it on the empty spot in her place. She didn’t want to embarrass herself that she created space on her plate for Yang Zheyan’s sliced beef.
Song Liqin answered Wen Yingyue with a pitiful grunt and fanned herself to calm down. She thought she saw the worst of it, but there was more to come.
Yang Zheyan didn’t stop after that first sliced, he put more and more until it created a tiny pile. “Is the food not to your liking?”
Song Liqin’s mouth opened but quickly closed. She rubbed her temples. Her son was pretty much saying his mother’s food was not good! She woke up this morning to make dinner for three of them, and Xiong Jingfei was the “uninvited” guest.
Under the table, Yang Zheyan lightly tapped Xiong Jingfei’s foot. She needed to at least respond to him! How can she remain quiet while he was shamelessly doing all of this for her? Did she really not like food?
She barely touched any of it, but her eyes were on Wen Yingyue this whole time. What is so interesting about Wen Yingyue’s face?
Yang Zheyan was sure his face was better to look at than hers. Also, Xiong Jingfei doesn’t even give him this much attention too! How can other people get her attention so easily, but she is barely looking at him.
