Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 162
Xiong Jingfei thought they were going home, but the direction they were heading in was the opposite direction of Yang Zheyan’s house.
“We aren’t going home yet,” Yang Zheyan answered her wondering eyes. “You promised me that we will spend more time together after today’s dinner.”
That’s right. Xiong Jingfei almost forgot she did make such a promise to him. She forgot about it because of Wen Yingyue’s sudden appearance.
Yang Zheyan turned up the music as they enjoyed the ride and scenery.
The passing lamp posts, the crowd on the streets, and the nightlife of Sinwang City. Even Xiong Jingfei came to a realization she doesn’t take advantage of living in the city much.
She lowered the car window and rested her head against the glass panel. Letting the evening wind graze her face and brushed her hair. She closed her eyes to digest this moment of peace.
At this moment, she thought, maybe marrying Yang Zheyan wouldn’t be the worst thing. If they continued to live in harmony like this, she couldn’t ask for more.
The ride didn’t feel that long because when she opened her eyes, the car was no longer moving.
“Did you have a good nap?” Yang Zheyan leaned on his car wheel. He tapped on the side of his chin.
Xiong Jingfei quickly wiped her mouth to make sure she wasn’t drooling. She was too relaxed! How long has she been asleep?
He chuckled, “Are you ready?”
Yang Zheyan walked around and opened her side of the door. He extended out his hand for her to take and she took the offer.
Xiong Jingfei took a look at the place he brought her to, and it was a place she’s been to before. It felt like a dream when she came here, but now, it was real.
She pinched her arm, and it hurts! It’s real! She’s not dreaming or having a vision.
This place actually exists…
It looks just like it did the first time she came here with a child named Wei Weimin. The land was vast and filled with grasses reaching up to her knees. That child promises her to bring her back to this place.
“Do you like this place?” Yang Zheyan walked up from behind her. He took a peek, and her expression was showing that she liked it.
Xiong Jingfei felt that it was unbelievable and believable at the same time. The place she was shown to… She thought it was only in a dream, but it actually exists! She twisted to one side to look up at him. How does Yang Zheyan know of this place?
“This place belongs to me. I wanted you to show you this place because… There is something about this place whenever I come here.” Yang Zheyan explained although it was only half the truth to why he showed her the place. “I like to come here whenever I have a lot on my mind.”
She sighed, this place really does have something about it. It was a full moon tonight too. It felt like a replica of that night Wei Weimin showed her this place.
Sadly, she remembers him showing her this place, but can’t recall his face.
Xiong Jingfei wonders if it was possible just like that night. She opened her mouth and tried to say something. Dejectedly, nothing came out… She tried.
She went up closer to the grassland and repeated the same thing that child Wei Weimin did. If this is really the place Wei Weimin showed her, then it should still be the same.
“Wait!”
She swiped her hand across the tall grass, and just like she thought, the sleeping fireflies came flying out.
Yang Zheyan chuckled in disappointment. “You ruined the surprise. I didn’t think you would know the hidden treasure on this land.”
Xiong Jingfei didn’t know. It was the child Wei Weimin that showed her the hidden treasure ahead of time.
Yang Zheyan grabbed her by the hand and ran into the field with her. Behind them, the fireflies showed their trails with them lighting up and flying away.
[‘A love as good as ours, who will truly understand.’]
She gasped at how beautiful the scene was. It was different from the time Wei Weimin showed this place to her.
[‘The devoted love that you and I once have will never fade.’]
Both of them stood in the middle of the field with the fireflies surrounding them. Letting only the fireflies and the bright moon be their only source of light.
[‘I pray to the moon to guide us once again.’]
Just like the first time she arrived, her hand was taken, and something was quickly put in her hand.
Yang Zheyan quickly closed her hand. “Now, you can open it.”
She opened her hands, and out came two fireflies.
“I was planning to do this first, but you decided to do the bigger surprise before I had a chance to do it.” Yang Zheyan chuckled, watching her expression lit up as bright as the fireflies.
There was a sense of nostalgia, Yang Zheyan was doing the same thing Wei Weimin did for her.
“Do you not like this place?” Yang Zheyan saw that she kept staring at him the whole time.
She shook her head, how can she not like it? She fell in love with the place just like the first time the child Wei Weimin showed it to her. That child promised to bring her back to this place, but he didn’t, and Yang Zheyan did it.
“Should we go back?” Yang Zheyan automatically grabbed her hand as he was becoming accustomed to doing it.
Back at the car, he took out two blankets from the back and laid one on the ground. He patted the spot next to him.
When she sat down, he wrapped the second blanket around her. He tucked her in and made sure there wasn’t any hole to let in the crisp wind. “It’s a good thing I came prepared.”
