Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 163
“Will it be strange to tell you that I feel at peace with you here?” Yang Zheyan leaned back and stared up at the fireflies. “I feel like I’ve known you for a long time, even though we just met not too long ago.”
[‘No matter how many lifetimes, I only want to be with you’]
Xiong Jingfei smiled, it was like he took those words right out of her mouth. She thought she was the only one who felt it. She always felt at peace being with him, but there was a part of her that wasn’t settling down.
“A-choo!” Yang Zheyan sniffed.
She muffled in her laughter. Yang Zheyan was worried about her catching a cold that he didn’t think about himself. Xiong Jingfei untucked herself and held out one side for him. She’s not that greedy, she can share the other half of the blanket with him.
“Are you sure?” He asked, but he was already scooting his way in.
Xiong Jingfei nodded her head. But if he keeps talking, she might just change her mind.
“I knew my darling wouldn’t let her husband suffer out in the cold~.” Yang Zheyan joked, but it almost got him pushed out of the blanket. “I was just kidding…”
Xiong Jingfei was looking out into the distance, but he was staring down at her throat. Unsure why, but by the time he realized it, his hand touched her throat.
She flinched at the sudden touch.
“Do you miss talking?” Yang Zheyan traced her throat with his slender fingers. “Do you miss your voice?”
Xiong Jingfei moved away from his touchy fingers. He could just say it, why does he have to touch her throat. She took out her tablet and wrote, ‘Yes, but I’m used without it by now.’
Yang Zheyan didn’t give her a pity look, but that she was a courageous person. She continued to move forward and kept pushing through all her obstacles. Still, he would love to hear her voice one day.
[‘Our hopes and promises in the past, why did it become sorrow upon us.’]
She poked him on the arm, ‘How about you?’
“What do you mean?”
‘Do you hate the fact that you can’t touch other women?’ Xiong Jingfei made an expression like she was laughing.
“What!?” Yang Zheyan coughed in embarrassment. Not a lot of people know of his rare condition, so nobody talked about him. Unlike Xiong Jingfei, it wasn’t something she could hide. “I’m okay with being unable to touch another woman…”
Because I have you already. That last part, Yang Zheyan said it to himself.
Xiong Jingfei gave him a suspicious look. Does that mean he likes the same gender?
“Stop that thought immediately!” Yang Zheyan pinched her cheeks. He finds them very pinchable, so he was making this a reason for his actions. “I can show you right here if you don’t stop.”
She doesn’t want him to be showing her anything! Holding up both her hands, she surrendered to his threat. Unable to hold back, she showed an expression that she was still laughing at him.
“How dare you laugh at the great Yang Zheyan!” Yang Zheyan pinched her cheeks again. “I told you I’m not!”
He pinched while she pushed him away. When she was able to escape, she ran into the grassland while he chased after her. He grabbed hold of her arm, but both of their footings were off. So both of them went down together. He toppled on top while she laid at the bottom.
In the vast land, there was no one else but them.
Xiong Jingfei’s heart was beating, but she wasn’t sure if it was because of her running, or because it was his breathtaking face. She didn’t pay much attention to him, but she can see why Wen Yingyue was willing to stoop to Zhao Fan’s level for him.
This person was going to be her future husband for at least one to two years. If so, she was willing. At least when this over, she will get the right to boast she was once married to a good looking person.
Yang Zheyan was also heavily breathing as he stroked her right cheek. Both of her cheeks were a bit red from his pinching. But, these cheeks of hers belong to him and no one else. Everything about her belongs to only him.
[‘If there is another lifetime, I will find you again.’]
His possessiveness of her didn’t change, but something else did change inside him. A new feeling he never felt before was emerging inside him. What was it?
He started leaning in, and she closed her eyes. Right as their lips were less than a centimeter apart, something flashed through Yang Zheyan’s head.
A man dressed in red dipped his brush in the black ink. He went back to a paper scroll rolled out in front of him and began writing down…
[‘A love as good as ours, sadly we were not destined to be together.’]
A few wet drops landed on the scroll, but it wasn’t ink droppings but the dropping of clear waters. Hitting the paper scroll and sealing the writer’s emotions.
Yang Zheyan immediately backed away from her.
Xiong Jingfei could feel his closeness, but something didn’t feel right, so she opened her eyes. He stood up, and so did she. What’s wrong with him?
“I-it’s getting late. We should head back.” Yang Zheyan started walking back to the car and didn’t look back to see if she was following him.
She stood in the field and watched him walk back to his car. It was her first time hearing him stutter… He most likely came to his right mind before her. She guessed it was a good thing they didn’t do anything to cross the line.
They’re not real lovers, after all.
On the ride back, it was quiet but not the kind of “quiet” when they went to that place. Both of them kept their silence, and Yang Zheyan didn’t look like he wanted to talk about it. Xiong Jingfei also thought it would be better for her to not hear about it.
[‘One day, when fate brings us together, let’s love each other again.’]
