Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 165
Both of them looked down at the same time, and the fastest one to look away was Yang Zheyan.
He cooly played it off. “Well, well, well. Apparently, the top wasn’t good enough for you.”
Xiong Jingfei rolled her eyes up and let it be stuck to the ceiling. Gosh, it was her first time seeing a man’s thing, and this was how it was done. God, this is why she told him to put on something!
Yang Zheyan took his sweet time to grab his towel and wrapped it around him again. “Aren’t we in a similar situation again? You know, that time…”
Yes, I know which time he is referring to! Xiong Jingfei pushed him away for him to go get change. This time it wasn’t her who was n.a.k.e.d but him.
When he went to the bathroom to get change, she started fanning herself. Next time when she doesn’t see him right away in his room. She will make sure to never enter!
“So, what can I do for you, darling~?” Yang Zheyan got dressed and sat down next to her.
‘Have you seen this hairpin?’ Xiong Jingfei showed him the hairpin drawing. She was hoping he would be her answer since he was the person who took her to the fireflies field.
“No.” Yang Zheyan answered.
He thought she was the creator of that hairpin, but for her to ask him, then she wasn’t. A hairpin design like that was hard to forget.
Darn… Xiong Jingfei really hoped he would have given her a positive answer. She was back at square one on the hairpin again.
“There is someone I know that is great at gathering information.”
That person was none other than Lu Weisheng, the social butterfly.
Yang Zheyan saw how disappointed she was when he told her no. Even without her asking, he would love to see the hairpin in person too. Does it look as good as the drawing?
“Why are you looking for it?”
‘I have my reasons.’ Xiong Jingfei wrote down, not wanting to tell him a complicated story. He was already lost when Feng Huan mentioned his little story, so her story will throw him into a different world.
“That’s not good enough.” Yang Zheyan crossed his arms. “Unless you tell me, I won’t be helping you.”
Xiong Jingfei didn’t want to explain it to him. He wasn’t a part of Ai’s life, so she doesn’t see why she needed to tell him. Besides, there was a higher chance of having Xu Suying believe her story than him. At least, Xu Suying sees ghosts so it wouldn’t be that crazy of a story.
She wrote, ‘How about an alternate?’
“Oh?” Yang Zheyan raised an eyebrow. “What do you suggest?”
‘How about, I will honestly answer one thing about myself?’
“Sure. Why are you looking for the butterfly hairpin?” Yang Zheyan asked, knowing fair well he was asking the question she didn’t want to answer.
Xiong Jingfei bit her bottom lip and ferociously wrote, ‘I said an alternate!’
He showed an obvious expression that he lost interest in her alternate. “Everything I need to know about you. I already know.”
Right, Xiong Jingfei slightly pouted. Way to show off his exceptional connection on getting a background check on her. That means he might have seen her record when her father took her to see doctors for her mental health.
“Oh, wait. There is something I am curious about.” Yang Zheyan played with the silk tendrils of her hair. “Why were you with Wu Yuan that day? What were the two of you doing?”
Xiong Jingfei had to backtrack on what day he was talking about. What day…?
Yang Zheyan dropped her hair locks, and his eyes widened. “How many days are there that you spent alone with Wu Yuan!?”
She quickly held up one finger! There was only one time they had a one on one conversation! That was the only time too!
Yang Zheyan rolled his shoulders to ease the tension in the back of his neck. He grunted, “Go on.”
‘He asked me to eat with him, and that was it.’ Xiong Jingfei wrote down, yet she didn’t tell him about their bet.
“Is that really it? Nothing else I need to know?” Yang Zheyan suspiciously asked. He has a feeling there was more to it than what she is letting on.
Xiong Jingfei nodded her head and smiled. She did tell him what he needed to know. Wait, how did he know she spoke with Wu Yuan? Jeez, he was quick to catch on…
“Fine.” Yang Zheyan took out his phone and sent a quick text to Lu Weisheng. “I’ll send more details to Weisheng, and I will let you know when I hear back from him.”
Xiong Jingfei tried not to be too excited about it, but she had a feeling Lu Weisheng can give her an actual answer. Her answers might come by faster than she had imagined it.
“Is there another reason why you’re still here?” Yang Zheyan didn’t bother to keep up his kind facade for Xiong Jingfei. He was just being him around her. “Unless you want to do a little tumbling with me on my bed?”
Xiong Jingfei shot straight up. She saluted Yang Zheyan for his help. Her business with him here is done.
“Wait.” Yang Zheyan gave her a box. “This is yours.”
Xiong Jingfei opened it, and inside was the frame her mother made for her. It was broken because her father threw it, but it got fixed. The rhinestone was back in places, and the broken glass was replaced.
She didn’t need to ask who fixed it for her because he was standing in front of her.
“I-”
Yang Zheyan felt a loud thump against his chest when a pair of arms wrapped around his waist. He didn’t think that by fixing the frame, it would make Xiong Jingfei this happy and actually hug him.
Xiong Jingfei pulled herself away from him and graciously thanked him again. Then she ran out of his room, but not without taking another glance at the canvas painting.
When she returned to her bedroom, she took out her phone and texted Wu Yuan.
Xiong Jingfei: [Congrats.]
