Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 167
Deal! Xiong Jingfei extended out her hand, and they shook on it.
She would love to see Wu Yuan’s capability of granting her wish. She will make sure she is the winner because she has no reason whatsoever to contact Wu Yuan.
Honestly, Xiong Jingfei’s determination at the time was so strong that she didn’t see herself losing to Wu Yuan. Even so, everything Wu Yuan told her was coming true.
Xiong Jingfei was sure that Wen Yingyue was the person Wu Yuan was talking about. The person she will come to hate even at the sound of her voice. It was true!
When she heard Wen Yingyue’s voice, she was ready to go flying and choke the living daylight out of her. If she wasn’t holding onto Yang Zheyan’s hand, perhaps, she might have done it.
No, she would have done it!
Still, when she held onto Yang Zheyan’s hand, it did calm her down.
Xiong Jingfei impatiently tapped her foot.
“So eager to know, but I’m not ready to tell you yet.” Wu Yuan laughed it off and beckoned her to follow him. “Part of your answer is over here.”
They were walking the same pathway that Xiong Jingfei did when she was here with Xu Suying and her parents. Nothing changed, but she felt that once she stepped back on this same pathway again. Everything she knows will change.
Along the way, Wu Yuan took a turn and changed the way. It was in a different direction from the one heading up to the shrines.
He took her to a small cottage and opened the door. He cheerfully shouted, “We’re here!”
Xiong Jingfei took a step into the house, and the crazy granny was sitting near the heater. She was warming up her fingers and toes when it was still the middle of summer! It probably gets cold up here in the mountains, but right now, it was an incredibly hot day!
She took a step in and took that step right back out. She must have been too desperate to believe Wu Yuan can give her answers.
“Haha, where do you think you’re going?” Wu Yuan grabbed her right shoulder and pulled her back in.
I want to go home… Is what Xiong Jingfei wanted to say. Instead, she sat down on one of the pillows spread out on the ground. Even the crazy granny ignored her presence and wasn’t “that” into her like last time.
“Hehe, granny! Look at what I brought for you!” Wu Yuan held up a creamy white box with a pink silk ribbon wrapped around it.
The crazy granny finally had a reaction to them. She ran like a happy child and hugged that white box.
Xiong Jingfei thought something amazing was inside, but it was only pastries. Well, expensive-looking pastries.
She watched as the little old granny stuffed her face one after another. In a way, she was envious of the old granny. Because she is this young, and she can’t even stuff herself until she is happy. Stuffing herself will result in her vomiting it out or having a stomachache.
Are they here to watch the crazy granny eat? Xiong Jingfei glanced over at Wu Yuan with obvious annoyance. Is he purposely wasting her time?
The last time she was here, she cried her eyes out and begged the crazy granny for more visions of her mother. Does he really know something about her that she doesn’t?
Wu Yuan only smiled back and mouthed, ‘Patience.’
So, patience it was. Xiong Jingfei sat there and continued to watch the crazy granny eat until she finished the last of it. She even gave the granny water because she started coughing towards the end.
“Ahhh! That tasted so good!” The crazy granny was filled with brimming energy and laughed. “Okay, now I’m ready!”
Ready for…? No one is telling her what is happening besides being patient. Xiong Jingfei gave the room a good look to make sure they weren’t planning on doing anything weird to her.
“Oh my! Young lady, it’s so good to see you again!” The crazy granny took Xiong Jingfei’s hands in hers.
Did she just notice me? Xiong Jingfei smiled back at the crazy granny. I even gave her water to prevent her from choking.
“Yuan, go get me that and that.”
Wu Yuan went and did as the crazy granny instructed. They sound like they know each other fairly well…
He laid out a futon in the middle of the room and grabbed an incense burner.
“Now, young lady. Please lay down here and close your eyes.” The crazy granny widely opened her arms in front of the futon. As if Xiong Jingfei was just going to lay there because she said so.
Xiong Jingfei is now convinced she had gone crazy for believing Wu Yuan. She wasn’t going to lay there for two people she barely knows.
“Feifei, you want your answers, right? It’s here.” Wu Yuan seriously said. He was no longer being playful or joking with her. “I won’t hurt you, I promise.”
She can feel that he wasn’t lying to her and was telling her the truth. Xiong Jingfei went over and laid down on the futon and closed her eyes. She will trust Wu Yuan this one time.
“Good! Good!” The crazy granny sang. “Okay. You, leave!”
“Okay, I’m going…” Wu Yuan opened the door and looked back down at the closed eyes Xiong Jingfei. He muttered, “Sleep well, Feifei.”
Xiong Jingfei could smell a strong whiff of incense being burned. Then the crazy granny began humming a tune, not like the humming of a lullaby. It was more like a chant of some sort.
As she listened to the crazy granny humming, it was making her eyes heavier and her mind lighter. Causing her to fall deeper and deeper into a dark world that she has long forgotten, but held dear to her heart.
A single tear from the corner of her eyes escaped.
[A broken, unfulfilled promise… Zheyan… In this lifetime, I followed you. In the next life, you will follow me.]
