Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 172
Of course, Xiong Jingfei didn’t fight him to stay in the room. Although she preferred the room over anywhere else at the moment.
Though, it was useless to fight Wu Yuan because she wasn’t going to win either way. She did everything he wanted in the meantime because he did win the bet. It was a bet that she wasn’t going to win, and he would be the winner, just like he said to her.
She also had nowhere else to go or a place to call home. Xiong Jingfei couldn’t return to her old apartment, her father’s home, or back to Yang Zheyan’s place. She rather live out on the street than return to him.
So the only place that would shelter her was Wu Yuan’s house. Again, it was just like he said, she will stay willingly with him.
Wu Yuan was actually a helpful person in hiding her away from Yang Zheyan. He made it hard for anyone to find her.
It shouldn’t be difficult for Yang Zheyan to find her location based on his connections and capability. But, there is a reason why he hasn’t found her yet. He was missing one crucial information in order to find her location.
It wasn’t Xiong Jingfei who was hiding this information, but it was Wu Yuan.
Wu Yuan brought her outside, and the sun was blinding. Xiong Jingfei realized there was a huge difference when you’re looking out through a window on a sunny day versus being outside.
In Wu Yuan’s massive backyard, there was a white cast iron table and two chairs under a shaded area. On top of the table were a three-tier dessert tray and a kettle with two teacups.
Xiong Jingfei stopped walking upon seeing the set up ahead of her.
Wu Yuan went and sat right down on one of the chairs. “What are you waiting for? An invitation? Sit down.”
She sat down on the opposite side as he wanted. What is this? Does he want to have a mini tea party with her? They aren’t kids anymore.
Wu Yuan poured the tea into one of the cups for her. “Are you going to keep your silence or start talking?”
In all honesty, being voiceless was more comfortable for Xiong Jingfei than talking. Five years can drastically change someone’s habit.
“What do you want from me?” Xiong Jingfei asked, not eating or drinking anything on the table.
The desserts prepared looked delicious, and the tea smelled great, but she didn’t have an appetite.
“What do I want from you? Hmm…” Wu Yuan grinned and put a cupcake on her plate. “Perhaps for you to eat?”
A smile escaped her lips as she said, “Cut the bullshit.”
He was testing her to check if she got a lot of her past memories back or only a little.
“Tsk tsk. Look at you, you got your voice back and a bad temper on top of it.” Wu Yuan chuckled and ate the other cupcake he picked out. “Shouldn’t you be asking yourself this question instead? What do YOU want?”
That was a question Xiong Jingfei has been asking herself for the past three days. What is she going to do with these memories of her past life? Take revenge? Go on with life, acting like it was nothing more than a nightmare?
She thought about this question over and over, but there wasn’t an actual answer for her. Except for one, take back what belonged to her.
Isn’t that why people from her past life showed up in her current life? Out of billions of people in the world she could have encountered. She started out with the same people from her past life again.
“Wu Yuan… No, let me correct myself. I should be calling you…” Xiong Jingfei traced the rim of the teacup with her index finger. Then stared up at him with a shrewd smile. She will give him the answer to what she recalled from the past. “Yin. Yuan.”
Yin Yuan put down the cup he was drinking from and put on the same smile. “You knew?”
Xiong Jingfei sat back and mimicked his leisure actions. She drank the tea he poured for her then put the cup back down.
“At first, I wasn’t sure, but the more we spent time together. It was starting to make sense, especially on how the Yin’s disciples treated you.”
Xiong Jingfei can still see a clear picture of how the Yin’s disciples acted towards him. Running away at the sight of him and trying to stay out of trouble. Someone with the surname Wu would never scare them even if they were a pure genius. Unless they were a Yin.
“Although they may have been afraid of you. There should only be one person they should really be afraid of…” Xiong Jingfei crossed her legs.
Yin Yuan played along and leaned in. He put his elbows on the table and rested his chin on his hand. “Who?”
“Confirm this for me.” Xiong Jingfei leaned in too and put her elbows on the table. She raised an eyebrow at him. “Are you the head of the Yin household again in this lifetime?”
“So, you knew who I was in our past life.” Yin Yuan couldn’t even hide his arrogant smile. “Well, do you think I am?”
Xiong Jingfei didn’t even have to answer him. She leaned back on her chair. Jeez, they really were family. That arrogant smile of Yin Yuan was the confirmation she needed.
In their past life, Yin Yuan went under the alias name Wu Yuan. He chose to do the same thing again in this life. In both lifetimes, he took over as the head of the Yin household.
“I have another question for you.” Xiong Jingfei needed him to answer this one because she didn’t have an answer to it.
“You have so many questions for me.”
“Answer me, honestly.” Xiong Jingfei examined Yin Yuan’s face real close for the first time.
“I always do.” Wu Yuan smiled.
“When did you get your past memories back?”
