Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 196
Xiong Jingfei waited for him to say something about all the things she blurted out, but he didn’t say anything.
Yang Zheyan’s face was blanked, so she couldn’t tell whether he was lost or believed her. However, she did notice that his face became paler than it was when she met him outside in the rain.
“Zheyan?”
“Feifei, I-” Yang Zheyan rubbed his forehead.
Xiong Jingfei’s body moved on its own and caught his heavy falling body in her arms. Unfortunately, his weight was more than she can carry, so they both fell together.
Yang Zheyan laid on top of her and was breathing heavily with his eyes closed.
“Damn you.” Xiong Jingfei cursed under her breath, not bothering to change the position they have fallen in.
She touched his forehead, and it was just like she had guessed. He was burning up, and sweats were beginning to form on his forehead.
Is this why he was acting out of character? How long did he wait for me in the rain? Xiong Jingfei took a tiny gasp, did he wait for me after I ended the phone call? No way…
“What am I supposed to do with you now?” Xiong Jingfei muttered, tilting her head back to look up at the canvas. She pinched his cheeks. “You’re annoying.”
Yang Zheyan scrunched up his eyebrows showing his discomfort.
“This pain is still very little.” Xiong Jingfei let out a big sigh and spread out her arms. “You should’ve painted Wen Yingyue.”
Then I could’ve added it onto my hate list for you.
How did you dream or recall this scene? Out of everything in your past life that you had accomplished, this was something that got embedded into your heart? Why?
Remembering what happened in your past life doesn’t mean you remember every single thing. You tend to remember the things that impacted your life that you cannot forget. Whether the experiences were happy, sad, or painful, it’s your choice to make it become a part of you.
The memories I held onto before I died were the ones that hurt me the most—remembering all the faces of those who had hurt me and betrayed me. I made sure to take those feelings with me into my next life and cursed myself to remember it in my next life.
I can’t find myself to forgive them. Forgiveness is easier said than done.
“Zheyan, you’re confusing me.” Xiong Jingfei closed her eyes and listened to the heavy rain and thunder exploding outside. “Should I make you suffer or disappear from your life forever? I seem to be the only person suffering.”
It sucks.
You manage to make a small crack on a wall I put between us. After Wen Yingyue’s masquerade party, for a brief moment, I thought of how great it would’ve been if I stayed oblivious about my past life. Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way for us. Not when we are walking down the same pathway we did in the past.
Zheyan, maybe we aren’t meant to be lovers. Fate seems to be against us in both lifetimes.
Xiong Jingfei pulled herself up and gently shook on Yang Zheyan’s shoulders to wake him up. He didn’t respond but laid fast asleep on her chest.
“What was Lu Weisheng’s phone number again? I should tell him to pick you up.”
Yang Zheyan instantly got up with dazed eyes and a flushed face. He was slowly regaining consciousness that he was still at Guiying Hui Museum. He quickly grabbed onto Xiong Jingfei’s hand.
“Ouch! You’re holding on too tight.” Xiong Jingfei tried to loosen the grip, but it only encouraged him to hold on tighter. “I’m not going anywhere-”
“You will.” Yang Zheyan pulled on her hand and was heading towards the back doors.
“Wait! Wait! You can’t go out there like this in the rain.” Xiong Jingfei pulled him back, but it was of no use against him. They were already out the doors and rained on.
Yang Zheyan came to a stop and whipped right around. “Are you worried about me?”
“No.” Xiong Jingfei turned around to stop the door from closing so that she could grab her umbrella leaning against the wall. “I don’t want to get blamed for the cause of your death.”
“You’re not very honest.”
All of a sudden, her arm was pulled back, and she doesn’t know why, but she did a twirl before landing in Yang Zheyan’s embrace. Her heart skipped a beat upon seeing Yang Zheyan’s flushed face and drenched hair. He looked like the “angel” they described him to be, and he seemed like a defenseless creature.
He placed his warm hand at the back of her neck and pulled her in, sealing her lips. He kissed her softly on the lips as he slid his hand from her neck to her back. His gentle kisses became rougher as he bit her bottom lips playfully. His hand began sliding lower until it came in contact with her thighs.
Xiong Jingfei tensed up when his burning hand grazed her thighs, making skin contact. She was trying to catch her breath, but he didn’t give her a second for their lips to part.
Yang Zheyan could no longer take it at a slow pace as he devoured her mouth, and his hand began making its way up her black trench coat.
She immediately grabbed his thigh touching hand and took a step back. While she was gasping for oxygen, he stood there with a satisfied smile, but she couldn’t let herself be on the losing end.
“I don’t do it with sick patients.” Xiong Jingfei said, even though her face was burning almost on the same level as feverish him. The cold raindrops couldn’t help her face cool down.
“Hmm, so I just have to not be sick?” Yang Zheyan smirked and nodded his head in approval. “Darling~, give me three days. Then we can-”
“Shameless.” Xiong Jingfei spat. “You’re probably faking your sickness too.”
She turned on her heels and headed to her car, but before she could get in. Yang Zheyan wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on her shoulders.
“Your face is so nice and cold.” Yang Zheyan snuggled his face closer to hers. “I’m trying my best to focus and not pass out again.”
“Is that why you made us look like drowned rats?”
“I saw my chance, and I took it.” Yang Zheyan whispered it intimately to her ears. “Feifei, why don’t we fall in love like those love dramas? We already made our first scene in the rain.”
“Get in the car before I leave you behind!” Xiong Jingfei shouted, putting him in the passenger seat and buckling him up.
Just when Xiong Jingfei thought he finished his shamelessness. He whispered something again that caused her to shoot up and hit her head on the car ceiling. He smirked when he saw the blush on her face.
[“Oh, except, our love will be the ‘not suitable for children’ version.”]
