Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 211
*PRESENT***
Xiong Jingfei gripped onto the jacket covering her face as she pulled her erratic emotions together before pulling it down. Then with the slightest tug, she let it come falling to her side as she revealed the face she was willing to show Feng Huan.
Feng Huan loosened his grip on her wrist as he took a step back. He had the look of utter confusion, and it wasn’t because of her expressionless face that won’t give him an answer.
“W-what was…” Feng Huan’s voice trembled as he was having a hard time finishing what he wanted to say.
He took another step back but had a misstep, and it caused him to fall backward. His bottom landed hard on the ground, but his focus was still directed towards Xiong Jingfei. The corner of his eyes began to burn. As they were also heated with millions of questions, and she was the answer to all of them.
“It seems like you have a lot of free time on your hands.” Xiong Jingfei said, looking over her shoulders instead of calming the confused Feng Huan. “Were you worried that I wouldn’t be able to finish the job properly?”
“It’s not like that…” Yin Yuan picked up his jacket and patted the dirt off. He frowned slightly; she threw it onto the ground like it was a dirty rag. “I must say it was a great thing I finished things early. I wouldn’t want to miss something this interesting.”
“That depends…” Xiong Jingfei looked down at Feng Huan again and tilted her head to the side. “It depends if he saw what I saw. Right, Feng Huan?”
Sweats began to build upon Feng Huan’s forehead, and it didn’t help that he was sitting on the ground. If anyone saw them, it looked like Xiong Jingfei and Yin Yuan were bullying him.
Feng Huan had his mouth open as if trying to say something but immediately clamped it back up. There wasn’t as much as a sound escaping from him.
“Hmmm~” Yin Yuan stood shoulder to shoulder with Xiong Jingfei. He bent his body forward as his dark shadow engulfed Feng Huan’s body. “Well, I think he’s at least taking it better than you.”
Feng Huan’s eyes rolled back, and his body laid cold on the ground.
“You think so?” Xiong Jingfei went down to Feng Huan’s side and put two fingers under his nose. He is still breathing… She sighed, “Hurry and help me carry him.”
By helping Xiong Jingfei “carry” Feng Huan, it was all Yin Yuan piggybacking Feng Huan to his car while she walked hands-free.
“Where are you taking him?” Yin Yuan asked, after not hearing Xiong Jingfei saying anything for a while. He was starting to feel the heaviness of Feng Huan’s body sinking into his back.
“Your place.” Xiong Jingfei replied as if that was the plan all along.
“Wait, what!?” Yin Yuan dropped Feng Huan off his back and into his car backseat.
Xiong Jingfei stared at Feng Huan’s quietly breathing body. She hoped that Yin Yuan did it smoothly enough that Feng Huan would end up with minimal injuries.
“I don’t want him at my place!”
“I can’t take him to Yang Zheyan’s place.” Xiong Jingfei stated the obvious. “Your place is the best option right now.”
She didn’t have anywhere to take Feng Huan, and getting a hotel room was not the answer. When Feng Huan wakes up, someone needs to be there at all times with him to observe his reaction.
“Hurry, you don’t want someone to think a celebrity is kidnapping a student. Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!” Xiong Jingfei ushered Yin Yuan to move on it, so he wouldn’t get another chance to reject her twice.

Feng Huan opened his heavily lidded eyes. He didn’t move or grunted that he was in pain but stared at the unfamiliar ceiling. Then he heard whispers coming outside the room’s door, like two people having a heated discussion.
As he got closer to the door and held the back of his head, it became clearer who the voices belonged to, but he couldn’t hear what it was about. Just as he touched the doorknob, both voices instantly died as if they knew he woke up.
“Come out.”
Feng Huan didn’t hesitate to open the door and confront the people from the other side. One of them was sitting on a chair while the other was standing off to the side.
“How are you feeling?” Yin Yuan asked, turning around on the chair. He put on a friendly smile and sounded as if he “truly” cared about Feng Huan’s well being. “Do you feel anything… Off?”
Xiong Jingfei glared at Yin Yuan. There wouldn’t be any “off” if he put Feng Huan into the car nicely.
Feng Huan rubbed the back of his head, feeling the unknown bump as he slightly glared at the culprit for it.
“Have a seat.”
Xiong Jingfei welcomed him to the seat opposite of Yin Yuan. She had a feeling it was best to have them sit apart. Then she placed something on the table in front of Feng Huan.
Feng Huan looked up at her as though he was about to say something, but whatever he wanted to say wouldn’t come out. Instead, he closed his mouth and stared back down at the ring. He didn’t think…
“You almost fooled me, Feng Huan.” Xiong Jingfei slammed down her palm on the table. She leaned in closer to his face, “I know my ring, just like how you know your bracelet.”
Feng Huan immediately lifted his eyes and locked in eye contact with her.
While Yin Yuan was quietly watching them with a smile on his face, he almost didn’t want to blink. Afraid he’ll miss anything by doing it! It was as if he was watching a drama that had nothing to do with him.
Feng Huan’s emotionless eyes and face began burning with emotions one can’t read. His entire demeanor changed as it brought out a person that had died a very long time ago.
A small smile crept across his face, “It has been such a long time, hasn’t it, Eldest Miss.”
“It has been,” Xiong Jingfei returned his smile and backed away, “Welcome back, General Feng.”
