Empty Promises: The Ceo Cunning Bride - Chapter 219
Xiong Jingfei pulled herself up, unwilling to be defeated, because Yang Zheyan decided to take this a step further. Pulling on the collar of his shirt, she leaned in and whispered into his ears, “It’s too bad that we have to put a stop to this fun.”
He gave her a look that he wasn’t sure why they had to stop. That was until he followed her eyesight to the cellphone on the table. On the screen, it showed a name that shouldn’t be showing up on her phone.
“Yes?” Xiong Jingfei answered the call. “Did you need something?”
“Fei-”
“Darling~, how can you leave me hanging when you started it first?” Yang Zheyan said in a flirtatious voice and loud enough that the person on the phone can hear him. “If you want, I can let you be on top this time. When you’re tired, we can switch position again.”
Xiong Jingfei’s eyes rounded at the absurdity coming out of Yang Zheyan’s mouth.
“I like it best when you touch me there!” Yang Zheyan exclaimed the moment he noticed her hands were going to push him away even though she hadn’t even touched him yet! “Why don’t you go a bit lower?”
“Zheyan!” Xiong Jingfei glared at him but knew it was best not to push him away. She doesn’t know what other ridiculous things he might say.
“Yes, darling~?” Yang Zheyan smiled like an innocent child who doesn’t know what he had done. “I love it when you scream my name too.”
Xiong Jingfei bit her bottom lip, it’s definitely best to say nothing and do nothing. The best solution to all of this was… Hang up the phone! Sorry, Feng Huan!
“There is no need to hide what we are doing.” Yang Zheyan grinned. He pinched her chin to turn her to face him. “Did you forget what you did to me in front of everyone at Wen Yingyue’s party? My sweet innocence was taken away by you.”
I-I did!? Xiong Jingfei felt like her brain was about to explode at his accusation. If anything, she was only near his lips, but he made them touched!
Yang Zheyan’s eyes slightly darkened, “I allowed you to use me, but I never said you could toss me away.”
“I-I never tossed you away,” Xiong Jingfei accidentally stuttered, clutching onto her phone tighter to her chest. It was as if he could see through her lies but won’t expose them yet. “Never! I will never do that to you.”
“Huh, I hope you stay true to your words.” Yang Zheyan’s finger brushed against her cheeks before getting closer to her face again. “You should erase all thoughts of running away because it will never happen again.”
Xiong Jingfei felt a shiver go down her back. Cold fingers…
*RING*
“Hello?” Xiong Jingfei immediately answered the unknown number calling her phone. Startled, she also pushed Yang Zheyan’s face away without a second thought of how much strength she put into it.
Yang Zheyan rubbed the side of his face that she pushed while giving her a hurtful look, “My beloved sure is popular tonight. What would you do if you ruined your husband’s face?”
Xiong Jingfei rolled her eyes and cleared her throat, “Hello?”
“Is this Xiong Jingfei?”
“Yes, who is this?” Xiong Jingfei asked, unfamiliar with the male voice behind the unknown number. She picked up the phone too quickly to realize she didn’t know the owner of the caller.
“I-I don’t know if you remember me… But you visited our shrine not too long ago. I’m the grandson of the grandma you were talking to at the waterfall.”
Shrine? Yang Zheyan could vaguely hear the conversation through the phone.
“Yes… I remember you.” Xiong Jingfei slowly answered as she got up and headed up to her bedroom. She didn’t want Yang Zheyan to hear the conversation between them. “Is there a reason why you’re calling me?”
“I apologize for calling out of nowhere. I got your number from your friend who was also there with you that day. Ah- Sorry! I…” The grandson’s voice began to choke up with nervousness as he continued, “I actually have an urgent favor to ask of you… Can you…”
Xiong Jingfei quietly listened to his request. After he finished, she let out a tiny sigh as she had already foreseen it. She didn’t think it was going to be this soon.
“I promise, but there is someone I want to bring with me too.”
****
The very next morning, it was like any other day in Yang Zheyan’s house
Yang Zheyan is gone before she is awake, and if Lu Weisheng stays for the night, he does not get up until it’s almost afternoon. The only other regular person that comes to Yang Zheyan’s house is Nanny Liu, but she doesn’t get here until another hour.
“Are you running away again?”
Xiong Jingfei’s next step froze mid-air. W-why is he here?
“Who said I am running away?” Xiong Jingfei shoved the backpack in her hand behind the wall. “I didn’t think you would be home. You’re not going to your studio today?”
Yang Zheyan set down his coffee, “It’s a good thing I didn’t leave, or else I would’ve missed seeing my darling trying to run away.”
“I wasn’t going to run away!”
“Oh?” Yang Zheyan got up from the chair that was hiding him in a blind spot.
Why did he not leave today!? Xiong Jingfei complained loudly but on the inside. She was going to stay quiet and let him walk past her without saying anything else, but he came to a complete stop next to her.
“You weren’t going to run away?” Yang Zheyan lifted an eyebrow and looked down at the bag next to her legs. “A packed backpack and trying to sneak out before anyone else is awake? If you don’t call this running away, what do you call it, darling~?”
Don’t tell me he knew this to happen? Has he been up all night waiting? Xiong Jingfei bent down to pick up her backpack, but Yang Zheyan was faster than her and grabbed onto the other strap.
