Esther de Baronia - Chapter 6.1
The castle of Esther de Baronia.
The three huge silver towers that pierce the heavens and their pedestals are called “castle”, “royal castle”, “Baronia castle”, or “silver castle” as people like to call them.
There is no uniformity in the way they are called, as they are almost undefined. The name of the royal capital does not even exist. The provinces don’t even have names, and It’s amazing that they are able to maintain the appearance of a country.
“I guess I’ll have to do something for this country.”
In a slouched posture with his knees crossed on the sofa in the private room where he had spent the night since waking up, Karon is pondering over the map on the menu screen.
This is because there were several times when he and Rushka were talking about geography and they couldn’t understand where each other was referring to.
The residential areas are grouped into subhuman areas, beast areas, giants, and deformed areas, and from there they are sorted according to how well the races get along with each other.
Cats and dogs do not get along well with each other, and dogs and monkeys do not get along with each other. Even sub-humans are different from goblins and elves, and even elves and dark elves, who are similar to each other, don’t get along.
They have to divide them up and place them in the city in such a way that they don’t clash.
He spent a lot of time making a correlation chart between the races at that time, and all the demons he couldn’t place during that time were left outside the castle, which is now a good memory.
Leaving that aside, it would have been easier to understand if it’s simply called “the elven section”, but instead they give a very far-fetched explanation of the upper right corner of the area southeast of the castle. Perhaps it’s because they don’t have such a concept.
“If so, I need a map. I mean, do they even have a map….?
The only thing that has developed is what Karon had created, and the rest is at the level of primitive people. The fact that they can go from place to place without a map is probably due to their demonic sense of perception or something. Basically, they think more like animals than humans.
The only person who has an accurate understanding of the map of this country – well, for now it’s just the castle and its surroundings – is Karon, who can see it in a window.
It looks like he needs to finish it and names it as soon as possible if he wants to have a proper meeting. More for himself than anyone else.
He suddenly remembers the hardship of the correlation, but he doesn’t think it will be that bad.
He has a bit of a bad feeling about this, but he closed the [hex map] that was open overlooking the castle and switched to the [general map].
There’s another problem with that, too.
There are fundamental questions.
Where in the world is this world?
What the hell is this country?
Can he use all the game systems?
He thinks he’s suddenly been transported to a world he doesn’t understand, but there’s still the question in his mind that maybe he’s still in the game, that the location of his base in Apocalypse has changed.
However, if this is the case, it doesn’t explain the uncharacteristic behavior of NPCs and the painful sensations.
Considering that this is a different world from the game, it doesn’t explain why when he opens the console window to view the map or open the inventory to take out an item, it appears right in front of him.
Other than that, when he instructed from the console window to build a lighthouse to guard the land outside the castle, Gigas, who was in the process of building a temporary residence, gathered around, quickly built the lighthouse, and went back to his work. He doesn’t understand it.
As a result, he found out that the basic controls of the game are possible, but the systems and communication are not.
Then, the main feature of Apocalypse was the summoning of monsters. And the prohibition of movement outside of the royal capital, which had bound the players. What about these two points?
He hasn’t tried either of them yet, so he can’t make any judgments, but if some changes occur in these two areas, the questions he’s pondering now will be confirmed.
He can turn the possibility that the royal city of Esther de Baronia has been transferred to another world into a certainty.
The orange letters that appear in front of his eyes and the console window can be considered magic if he looks at it differently.
If he uses the word “magic,” everything seems to fall into place.
But that doesn’t mean he can rely on the loyalty of the monster list.
Even if it works, he believes that the loyalty is to the king and not to Karon personally.
His social experience has made him understand how annoying it is to have a boss who is good at his job but annoying, so even if he is capable as a king, if his personality is not accepted, he may be eliminated.
It’s hard to believe that demons have the ease of filing a lawsuit like in the United States. They are sure to get their heads chopped off.
In order to avoid this, he needs to continue to play the role of a nice boss with a big attitude, but who is still concerned.
He wonders if the 29-year-old, who has been warned about being “too formal,” can do it.
“I’m off topic again, so let’s get back to it.”
Anyway, it’s foolish to continue to be skeptical, so he wants a pitfall, even if it’s hypothetical. That’s why he needs to summon monsters and move outside the castle.
The monster summoning can be done right now if they don’t choose a location.
There is an official transfer function that allows him to warp around the capital, so he can experiment without anyone knowing by jumping to a room dedicated to the summoning ritual that occupies the entire third basement of the castle.
But it’s not a good idea to do it there.
The system only allows the player to enter the summoning room, and once the summoned monster is contracted to the player and given a name, it is automatically sent to the military’s temporary monster storage facility.
If something unforeseen happens and no one can come to your rescue, you’ll be stuck, or if you escape via transfer, the monster will be left in the room and you won’t be able to use it again.
Normal monsters can be summoned anywhere, but he has to use the room just to summon the rare monsters that were charged.
He stares at the map, searching for a convenient place to go.
Green dots are moving around the map, and they all represent demons.
It’s a handy feature that allows him to quickly find out who’s where, and it’s also helping Karon find a convenient place where there are no demons.
“Oh, the back.”
He focuses on the north gate, which is located directly opposite the main gate. There are extremely few dots on the map, and he can only make out two guards guarding the outside.
The gates leading out of Esther de Baronia are on all sides, and he’s not sure if they are now, but they used to be oriented exactly east, west, north, south, and west.
The castle faces south and is positioned in the center of the royal city. It is surrounded by military facilities, and furthermore, it is surrounded by the castle town.
In order to enter the castle, one must pass through the Baronian army’s checkpoints, making it almost impossible for suspicious people to enter. On the other hand, it is impossible to get out without being censored.
Naturally, it’s no problem to just fly to the north gate by transfer, but the guards guarding the gate will get in the way. It’s not something he’d say after placing it himself.
He needs to get out somehow. One grain tastes twice as good as the other. But he doesn’t want to see any demons other than Rushka. It’s horrible.
He’s anxious and fumbles around in his lacking mind for a solution, but there’s no way he can come up with such a convenient solution.
“Excuse me. King Karon, I’m about to prepare a meal for you. Did you have any dislikes or …… problems?”
Perhaps he didn’t notice the knocking sound, Rushka opened the door and stood upright, and tilted her head, and found Karon groaning with his arms folded on the sofa.
So this is what it means to be a crossroads. There is no convenient plan, but Rushka has conveniently appeared.
“Rushka.”
“Yes.”
“I want to go outside. I need you to accompany me.”
“Yes, sir.”
The words were uttered on the spur of the moment, and Rushka agreed to them without question.
He wonders if this is the position of a king. The fact that he was so caught up in the reactions of the people around him while playing the role made him feel like he wasn’t ready for the role.
