Ever Ever After - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Time To Die
As the Crown Prince of Teniac’s fiance, she was supposed to be the main character of the show, yet she hadn’t even come out of her castle to make an appearance. So until now, Clint had happily used the castle as his place to fool around with while not forgetting to pay Cassie, the only maid in the castle.
He even nicknamed his secret getaway tree as the “Tree of Promise.”
Come to think of it, the possibility of her being the owner of the castle was good. Clint was the only one so unruly as to enter the castle of a woman engaged to the Crown Prince. Women would only be willing to follow Clint to the castle and not of their own volition.
Despite all his solemn talks, Lawrence didn’t think a man surrounded by beautiful women like Clint would have touched his fiance. In fact, he wasn’t interested even if Clint dragged her and stole her first night away.
“Come to my office this evening. I have something I’d like to speak to you,” said Lawrence, frowning.
At that moment, Clint stopped gushing his feelings and straightened his back.

Clint dressed properly for the first time in a long while and headed to Lawrence’s office.
“Captain, why do you think that poisonous snake is calling you?” asked Tarren, deputy chief of the Knights’ Order, which he commanded.
“Maybe he noticed that I touched his woman…”
“No way. If I found out about it, I’d have beaten you right away, Captain.”
“…Am I that funny, Tarren?”
“Yes, Captain.”
Clint had a look of resentment hearing Tarren’s calm answer.
Clint did everything he did to look comical. He couldn’t help it. If he looked competent to the Imperial Family, they’d eventually use his knighthood for their own benefits. The only thing Clint would face was death and his men’s family facing poverty.
In his life, all the adults he grew up with were now dead.
Clint decided not to give his life for the country, but to do nothing and avoid the emperor’s eyes.
After coming to that conclusion, there were many women who sought to play with him for a one night stand. Clint didn’t bother to refuse. He didn’t know whether they were married or single cause he didn’t care to get to know them. As a result, he became a notorious playboy.
Clint entered Lawrence’s office. Lawrence, a man who was unable to read his thoughts, greeted Clint.
“Clint, I need a favor.”
“Speak, Your Highness.”
Clint, who was usually in tatters, dressed up in a knighthood uniform perfect for a conservative talk like this.
He’d always talk big, had a loud mouth too, but when Clint shut his mouth, he had quite the sharp impression. Her slender waist, tall stature, and broad shoulders looked great in any clothing. But he stood out the most in his knighthood uniform.
The elegant uniform, which was only worn by the leaders of the Knights’ Orders, were only certified to twenty imperial knights of the Teniac Empire. They were decorated with gold threads on the sleeves and shoulder lines.
Even so, Clint who had never learned proper manners—though he’d never been an orphan—could never be seen wearing a tie even in a suit.
Lawrence parted his lips.
“Khanna Empire recently besieged the castle of Geneva in Sutton. The House of Green’s family is currently locked in the castle cellar in Geneva. I’d like you to save and bring him here. He’s a good, servile man, Clint.”
Clint’s eyes closed for a moment at the Crown Prince of Teniac’s remark.
Geneva, Sutton was located in the province of Zeta where nearly a thousand soldiers from the Khanna Empire were stationed.
Sending Clint and his knights, which consisted of only twenty men and five properly appointed knights, was akin to saying they were to die on the battlefield and give their life for the empire.
So far, he had managed to escape the eyes of the emperor, but now he’s caught the eyes of the Crown Prince.
“It’s time for you to go out as Captain Ron did. This your chance, Clint.”
