Everlastingly Loving You - Chapter 116
“I spent the last hour learning how to answer a question without really answering a question,” Sophia said, bored out of her mind.
Nicholas commented, “That’s unnecessary.”
“You already know how to do that.”
Sophia pouted, “It comes in handy most of the time.”
“They expect me to go on an interview.”
“An interview you say?” Nicholas asked.
Sophia nodded, “Yes.”
“Want to join me?” She asked.
“We could tell the world we’re dating, become Beldovia and Sanguis’ power couple,” she suggested.
“An interview?”
“They want me to talk about what’s royalty like,” Sophia said.
“But that’s just a cover story.”
“They’re going to interview me and ask me about my dad. They’ll ask how I’ve been doing after his death and what it’d be like ruling the kingdom one day,” she sighed.
Nicholas chuckled, he caressed her cheek.
“Well you don’t have to sweat it,” he consoled her.
“You’ll do great.”
“Besides you could always fall back to answering a question without necessarily answering a question, remember?” He reminded her.
Sophia smiled for a brief second.
“Right, there’s that,” she blinked.
“I just don’t think I’m ready.”
“Usually I’d be as confident as ever. Now all I feel is this pit in my stomach.”
“Like something’s missing,” Sophia shut her eyes.
She could feel a headache brewing.
She needed to get some rest, especially if she wanted to be fully prepared for tomorrow’s interview.
“You are amazing as is.”
“If the rest of Beldovia can’t see that then they are blind.”
“You were born for this, literally,” he told her, making her laugh.
“I can’t think of anyone else better suited to rule, and I’m not saying that because you’re my girlfriend, I’m saying that because I believe that you would,” he said to her.
He grinned confidently at her.
That smile melted all her worries away. She didn’t know how.
Whenever she was around him this was what happened.
She smiled, “You really think so?”
“That I’m ready,” she elucidated.
Nicholas nodded.
“I do, with full certainty,” he said without any hesitation in his voice and tone.
Sophia wanted to melt into a puddle.
She was so fortunate to have him.
She was the luckiest girl in the world.
“And I can say with full certainty that you’re the best,” she kissed him on the cheek.
She hesitated.
Something had surfaced in her mind. A faint memory that lingered. One she couldn’t quite remember.
She clutched her head.
The ringing returned.
‘It’s back,’ she thought to herself.
‘The constant ringing in my head is back,’ she said.
‘I’ve got to check this out at one point,’ she sighed.
She’d never got to the bottom of why her head rang. Why she remembered memories of her and Nicholas in outfits that looked to be centuries if not decades old.
She stared at the carpet in confusion.
‘What the hell is going on with me?’ She mumbled, gritting her teeth as she was brought to a distant memory.
The world around her warped.
She crouched on the ground, she clutched her head.
She saw distorted-looking pictures of a man and a woman.
‘God, I don’t know why I’m so smitten with you,’ he said to her.
‘My whole world revolves around you.’
‘I won’t ever stop smiling when I come across our old pictures,’ the man smiled, caressing her cheek.
‘I love you.’
The ringing stopped out of the blue.
She opened her eyes, realizing she was back in the palace hallway with Nicholas, in Beldovia. She had to remind herself she was back in Beldovia.
That she was safe. For now.
She nearly tumbled downwards.
Nicholas held her tightly, not letting her fall.
“Woah there.”
“Sophia?” He asked her.
“You spaced out for a second,” he said, studying her carefully.
Sophia shrugged it off, “Yeah I’m just… spacing out these days.”
“Besides it’s just a headache.”
Nicholas’ brain went code orange.
“And you don’t want to lay down or anything, possibly even take a short nap?”
“You have the rest of the afternoon free, we could always cancel our plans and–”
“Babe, no,” Sophia shook her head.
“You called me babe,” an adorable smile formed on Nicholas’ face.
“I did,” Sophia tried her best to put on a convincing smile.

Clarisse sat down at the dinner table.
“Food,” she said excitedly.
Louis winced, “I’ve got to go to the restroom, don’t mind me.”
“Mhm,” Clarisse nodded, piling on the food.
“Don’t start without me,” Louis laughed before he soon left.
Minutes later, Louis’ phone rang.
Clarisse didn’t answer the phone, thinking she could wait for Louis to return before picking the phone up. It was his phone, if whatever they were calling him about was important, they’d call again, she reasoned.
She sipped on a glass of water while waiting for her friend.
The phone kept ringing and ringing. It was blowing up with calls and wouldn’t stop no matter how much times she’d declined the call.
She declined the call, getting irritated by the noise of his phone dialing every one two seconds.
“God, what’s so important that he or she had to spam calls,” she mumbled under her breath.
She waited for Louis to return, hoping he’d return soon enough to shut his phone down.
It wasn’t long before she had enough.
She reached for his phone.
She picked up, asking, “Hello?”
She heard a woman ask, “Is this Louis Windsor’s phone?”
Clarisse nodded, “It is, but he’s currently busy as of this moment, why?”
The woman began explaining what happened to her. As soon as she heard the full story, she nearly dropped his phone on the ground. Her jaw dropped to the floor.
“It can’t be, it has to be a joke,” she uttered under her breath.
Once she’d received absolute confirmation it wasn’t, her heart sank.
Oh god.
She ran out the hall, rushing to find Louis.
She had to tell him. He had to know.
“Louis!” She shrieked, running the quickest her feet could carry her to find him.
