Everlastingly Loving You - Chapter 140
Clarisse laughed, “You know…”
“Before Oliver told me what she was like, I first thought it was you he liked,” she admitted to her best friend.
Sophia couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“Me?” She laughed.
Clarisse joined in, laughing even though she had no idea why Sophia was laughing.
“He couldn’t possibly like me,” Sophia said smilingly.
“No, it’s impossible he actually likes me,” she corrected herself.
“You don’t see it, do you?” Sophia asked, a mischievous glint in her eye, and a devious grin on her face.
“See what?” Clarisse asked her curiously.
“That he’s asking for your advice,” Sophia said cheekily, knowing that was not his intention.
“My advice?” Clarisse raised her brow, only for Sophia to nod.
“Yes, your advice,” Sophia tilted her head to the side and narrowed her eyes.
“He wants your advice on what to do with her.”
“Why else would he tell you?” Sophia reasoned.
“Because I’m his friend?” Clarisse questioned.
Sophia placed a hand on Clarisse’s shoulder, “Claire.”
“That’s not what he meant when he chose to tell you he likes someone,” Sophia facepalmed.
Somedays, she wondered how her best friend could be so dense.
Then, she reminded herself she was once this dense.
She was being hypocritical.
She was the queen of being hypocritical.
“And how do you know that?”
“Because he told me he liked someone too,” Sophia responded.
Clarisse inquired, “Did he tell you who?”
Sophia played it off as though he didn’t.
“Nope,” she said, popping the p in nope.
“Well, that’s sad,” Clarisse frowned.
“I really do wonder who it is.”
“It couldn’t be Ava could it?” She wondered.
Sophia blinked, it’d been a while since she heard anyone mention Ava.
“It couldn’t be,” she mumbled.
“Ava doesn’t fit the description.”
“She’s not sweet, she’s not compassionate.”
“She’s incredibly foolish,” Sophia said, a disgusted look on her face.
“Sorry, I should’ve realized Ava’s a sensitive topic.”
Sophia waved her hand dismissively, “It’s fine.”
“I don’t like her but… come to think of it, without her me and Nicholas wouldn’t be together now.”
“She gave us the push we needed and look at us now,” she mused.
“Stronger than ever.”
Clarisse scoffed, “What I’d give to be as perfect as you and Nicholas.”
Sophia furrowed her brows, “You are as perfect as me and Nicholas.”
“So you felt slightly bored.”
“It could mean one of two things. One, you’re experiencing temporary boredom, something completely normal in relationships, or two…”
“Two?” Clarisse raised her brow curiously.
“There’s something you need to sort out between you and him, especially if this continues.”
Clarisse slumped down on her pillows.
“We shouldn’t have had a MacGuffin talk so early in the morning,” she frowned.
Sophia patted Clarisse on the shoulder, “I just told you what I thought you needed to hear from me.”
“Especially if no one else will tell you,” Sophia nodded.
“So I’ll be the person who will.”
Clarisse shook her head, “Seriously, what would I do without you?”
Sophia shrugged, “You’d never have to imagine it happening, I’m not leaving anytime soon.”
Clarisse smiled, resting her head on Sophia’s shoulder.
“Thank you,” Clarisse thanked her.
“Truly.”
Sophia chuckled, “Don’t go all sentimental on me now, Claire.”
“I’m not,” Clarisse laughed softly.
“I’m glad you visited,” she said.
Sophia resisted the urge to ruffle Clarisse’s hair.
“Me too,” she said, a small smile on her face.
“Now go brush your teeth or something, your morning breath smells horrible.”
Clarisse took a pillow and smacked Sophia with it.

“Where were you? Didn’t see you when I woke up,” Nicholas noticed.
Sophia was nowhere to be seen when he woke up, of course he’d get worried.
Sophia nodded, “I visited Clarisse.”
She should’ve left him a note or a text, or something so he knew where she was at the very least.
“Clarisse? Isn’t she staying at Wilson’s place?”
“Yeah, she is.”
“I barged in his place to talk to Clarisse,” Sophia said.
Nicholas’ eyes widened at what she said.
“That sounds intrusive,” he admitted.
“You don’t barge into people’s place, even when it’s your best friend’s, my love,” Nicholas reprimanded.
Sophia blinked, “Yeah, it wasn’t exactly my best moment.”
“Just don’t do it again,” Nicholas reminded her.
Sophia wondered, “Nicholas,” she called.
“Would you still love me even if I became boring?” Sophia asked him.
Nicholas blinked, “Why ask that so randomly?”
“I’m just wondering,” Sophia said, her voice hushed.
Nicholas walked over to her.
He gave her a hug.
“Of course I will,” he stared longingly at her.
Sophia then asked him, “Would you still love me even when you hate me?”
Nicholas let go of her from his embrace.
“Do you have to ask?” He asked in return.
“Of course I’ll still love you.”
“I love you no matter what, Windsor,” he whispered, his voice filled with the utmost sincerity.
‘Promise?’ The look Sophia gave him asked.
Nicholas nodded, and Sophia buried herself in Nicholas’ shirt.
She didn’t know what was going on with her, she just felt different. A different kind of difference whenever she was around him, if that made sense.
Nicholas gently patted her head, reassuring her he would love her no matter what.
They stood there, unmoving and still.

Julia clutched the stair railing as she made her way down the staircase, about to visit Sophia’s quarters.
Then, she felt a sudden pain in her neck and back.
Her free hand clutched her head, she felt faint and weak.
As she made her way down the stairs, her breathing was ragged and she broke into a cold sweat.
She tried taking deep breaths, but that didn’t help.
Clutching her chest, a stricken look took over her features as everything seemed to slow down in motion and she was frozen in place.
Unable to move and knees weak, she tried steadying herself before seconds later, she collapsed, her legs giving out firstly to her knees before then to the ground.
The seizures started, and her body convulsed as she tumbled down the palace’s carpeted stairs.
