“Hey, Shizuru. I need you to do me a favor.”
After breakfast, Shizuru and Mary left their base in the slums and arrived at the clinic on main street in the east section of the capital.
In the middle of their preparations for the opening of the clinic, which was the first time in about half a month, Ludmila, who had arrived a little while after them, suddenly interrupted them.
“What’s the matter Ludmila, have you changed your …… Oh, do you need some money? How much do you want?”
“I’ve got plenty of money. Don’t compare me to Casca, who is constantly blowing her money like crazy.”
Her purple eyes were dull like those of a dead man.
Ludmila sighed quietly, her magical eyes clouded with hatred and resentment.
Then. A duster and dustpan flickered into view.
“Move out of the way. I’m cleaning.”
“……I’m sorry.”
Ludmila backed away from Mary, feeling strangely intimidated from the intense look she was giving her.
Feeling uncomfortable, she cleared her throat and continued.
“I want you to let me help you with your work.”
“My work?”
Shizuru looked at Ludmila with a puzzled look.
From his point of view, it was something that was completely out of the blue.
But for Ludmila, it was something she had been thinking about for the past few days.
“While you and Lady were away, it was just me and Beth practically running the whole entire third unit ourselves.”
Negotiations with the client intermediary, communication with the informants, book-keeping and other small behind-the-scenes tasks.
Despite the fact that it was handled by two people, the workload was far greater than expected.
They couldn’t even manage to carry out the assassinations of any targets, but thanks to Lady’s help, they managed to borrow personnel from the first and second units respectively.
–Once again, she was reminded of.
His ability to do so much work almost single-handedly, and the weight of responsibility that fell on him.
“Beth and I were both educated to such high standards. But even so, we had our hands full with all the behind-the-scenes work”
However, Shizuru also manages a clinic, studies healing magic, and even carries out assassinations on his own.
Ludmila knows firsthand how burdensome that can be.
“Lady told me. You’ve been asking the boss to set up a logistical support unit for a while now, but with the destruction of the Seventh, it won’t be possible for a while.”
If the personnel that will be gathered in the future are allocated to the reorganization of the 7th Unit, Shizuru’s difficulties will continue for the time being.
If so, the only people who can support him are those who currently belong to the third unit.
However, Eliza, not to mention Casca, were essentially useless.
Lady already does enough to help Shizuru. Beth, who suffers from severe headaches, couldn’t be expected to do much. Mary, too, has not yet learnt enough to be a competent helper.
In other words, Ludmila was the only one suitable for the job at the current moment.
If she could help Shizuru with his work, there was no reason why she shouldn’t.
“So let me help you. I’ll try to help reduce your workload as much as possible.”
“Ludmila……thank you, I appreciate it.”
Shizuru smiled softly at Ludmila, who looked at him sincerely.
This was the first time in half a month that she had seen him and his kind smile caused her to blush.
“Well, let’s get started, can you change into this?”
“….eh?”
Ludmila stood in front of a mirror, her mouth agape.
The expression on her face was almost indescribable.
“……What is this?”
She wore a tightly designed suit with black tights and a white coat over it.
For some reason, she also wore smart glasses and had a stethoscope hanging around her neck.
Just by appearance, she looked completely like a female doctor or something.
“Haha, Really cute. You look great, Ludmila.”
Shizuru smiled happily at her.
Ludmila was momentarily distracted by him calling her ‘cute’ , but she shook her head and turned to face him.
“What’s this? I didn’t say I wanted to help out in the clinic?”
“Of course. But I’d really appreciate it if you could help me.”
According to him, he wanted another pair of hands besides Mary’s, as he would be flooded with patients for the next few days after being absent for half a month.
When Shizuru lowered his head to ask for help, Ludmila was unable to say anything.
In the first place, it didn’t matter what she did, as long as it reduced the burden on Shizuru.
Whether it’s helping out behind the scenes or assisting at the clinic, it’s all about helping him.
“…..*sigh*”
After a moment, Ludmila let out a sigh.
She nodded and pushed up the frame of her glasses with her fingertips.
“Well, all right. If you say so, I’ll help you.”
“Thank you, that helps a lot. I’ll show you how to do small treatments and check-ups later, but if you have any questions, just ask, okay?”
It’s a bit of a blessing in disguise when the smiling Shizuru thanked her for her help.
In any case, Ludmila turned her gaze back towards the mirror and took a good look at her outfit.
“But you’re a stickler for details, aren’t you?”
“Humans are creatures that rely on sight for most of their perceptual information, so that means that the figure is an important part of the process, right?”
“Hmmm……not bad if you take a closer look.”
Although Ludmila often wore black clothing, the contrast between black and white created by wearing white clothing incorporated a pleasant sense of brightness.
The fatally bad eyesight had been mitigated to a certain extent by the pair of glasses.
“Hey, should I tie my hair up?”
“I think it’s fine as it is. It’s been properly combed, so it looks really nice and clean.”
She picked up her long, knee-length blue hair and took the opportunity to check for any split ends.
Then, as she began to fix the collar and sleeves, there was one person who was staring intently at her.
“……Mary? What’s wrong?”
Mary was looking at Ludmila with half-lidded eyes, and Shizuru tilted his head to the side as he asked her a question.
With her light green eyes fixed on her, she eventually whispered to herself.
“Just like a brothel”

TL: Recently many of my friends have been leaving spoilers and stuff on our Discord server and I was like, ‘I wanna do this too’. Did try once before but two lines from the start of a chap ain’t really much. And I hate ones that ruin important scenes so……
So I decided to leave spoilers here and In a way no one get’s bothered a lot by. Now you may ask how will I do it right?…… And that’s by giving out chapter titles for the current arc. If you do not want to see them, skip to end or something lol. I have put a warning in case you don’t wanna see it. It won’t really spoil much considering I have been misled tons of times. Titles and Black Maria just go way too different to actually spoil anything lol.
But if it bothers anyone let me know, and I’ll get them removed.
