Evil Black Maria - Chapter 91. Fear No Evil
With a thud, Richelieu tapped the ground with her heel.
What passed through her heels was the feeling of ordinary ground.
“Mm……Was I imagining things?”
As she muttered this, Richelieu shrugged her shoulders lightly and then turned around.
Despite being blind, she turned her head as if she could see, and was met by the stunned figure of Casca.
“This heartbeat, the breathing, it’s Cassie. I recognized your presence from the sky, so I jumped down.”
The words were spoken in an indifferent tone.
If one did not know Richelieu, they would not be able to believe what they were hearing.
To stand on the back of a dragon flying hundreds of meters above the ground and be able to detect the presence of a living being on the ground was beyond human capability.
But only, Richelieu, whose existence was literally beyond the limits of humanity, could do this feat.
–However, Casca was not surprised by such things now.
The reason she was so stunned was not that Richelieu had landed unscathed from a great height, or that she had instantly obliterated a great raven that she felt was so formidable that she had to fight it.
“Why, here….”
Casca wondered why Richelieu, who was supposed to be in the royal capital, was here.
When she asked why, Richelieu replied nonchalantly while tidying her hair, which was disheveled by the wind.
“Last night I had dreamt that I was drowning in a sea of green peppers.”
“…..huh?”
Casca rolled her eyes, not understanding the meaning of the statement.
As expected, she didn’t think that this would be enough for her to understand, so she continued her words.
“In short, I had a bad dream. It was very annoying.”
“…… the green peppers?”
“Green peppers are evil. A great evil. They are not food.”
Richelieu detested all vegetables, especially green peppers.
If it was in the food, no matter how finely chopped it was, she would flick it out with extreme precision, making sure not to eat any of it..
The green peppers appeared in her dream. From Richelieu’s point of view, it was an absolutely terrible experience.
And so, she was very angry.
“I destroyed the headquarters of the mercenary guild this afternoon out of spite.”
Richelieu said, as if she was returning from a short errand of some kind.
“Today was the day when the executives and major mercenary groups gathered. Well, only the order of extermination has been changed, but I came here on my own to inform you about it.”
With not a single scratch on her custom-made white suit nor any traces of blood present on her body.
Richelieu said, her whole body smelling heavily of blood.
–But the city where the headquarters of the Mercenary Guild was located was more than a thousand miles away from the labyrinth city.
–It would have been difficult to go there and back in one day, even if she used a Pegasus for transportation and left the capital this morning.
“So what was that dragon ……?
“Oh, that’s Lady. I’ve had her transformed into a dragon capable of flying at supersonic speeds.”
That is to say, she went straight from the royal capital to the guild headquarters by the fastest means possible, and after easily slaying a number of skilled individuals, she stopped by for afternoon tea.
It’s more than just a bunch of b*llsh*t, it was what one might call absurd.
“It wasn’t much of a hassle. No matter how many mercenaries they had gathered, they were still just a pile of waste.”
“….Monster.”
But no matter how absurd it was, it was not surprising.
After all, Richelieu was the kind of woman who could make even Casca call her a monster.
“By the way, Cassy, where is everyone else? I’d like to ask you about your progress, but I’m sure there’s no point in asking you anyway.”
From her perspective, she was just stating a conclusion based on a rational judgment.
But to be honest, Casca thought she was just making fun of her.
Casca, who had a red mark on her forehead from what she perceived was an insult, was no match for her. (1)
She spat in frustration and reluctantly tried to answer.
–But her words were interrupted by a deafening crackling sound that came from behind her.
“…….Oi Oi, you’re still alive?”
When she looked back, she saw the large raven, distorted but regaining its shape.
Although she hadn’t even noticed, it hadn’t completely disappeared, even after being crushed by Richelieu.
“Alright. This time, I’m going to destroy–”
Casca stepped forward, the corners of her mouth lifted viciously again.
However, a white cane lightly poked her shoulder from behind.
Casca, who hadn’t moved an inch even when struck by the battle axe wielded by Keith’s log-like arms, fell flat on her face.
“Oh, how peculiar. Isn’t this Spirit Summon?”
“………huh? Summon? What the f*ck is that?”
—-Spirit Summon.
It was the last step of a wizard’s journey, or what one might call the ultimate magic.
In the first place, the eight-color magics are techniques for borrowing and receiving the abilities and powers of the rulers who control the attributes.
Tuning in to the ruler through magical power, selecting an aspect of the power in the form of a system by passing it through a magic circle, and reproducing the desired effect in detail through chanting.
That is the principle of the eight-colored magic, the miracle that exists in this world.
Therefore, no matter what system you use, if you continue to study it, you will reach a certain point.
That is, summoning the spirits of the rulers who control the eight elements.
“……Hmm, I’m sorry Cassie. I thought about it for a while, but I have no idea how to explain it to you in a way that you would understand.”
As she stood in front of the raven and listened to the high-pitched sound of it neighing and the flow of magic power, she shrugged her shoulders in resignation.
Despite the fact that she possessed all of the abilities of an inhuman being with the exception of her sight, she had discovered through her own experiences that she lacked any aptitude for teaching.
Especially if the other person was a complete idiot.
“But the structure is quite messy, isn’t it? It pales in comparison to Jeanne’s.”
Casca was treated like an idiot and her fists were shaking with rage.
With such a woman behind her back, Richelieu muttered in a voice filled with disappointment.
“Somehow the structure was formed, but it looks crude and weak. Like a balloon or something.”
The magical power, swelling under the influence of intense emotions, became more dense as impurities were mixed in.
The quantity itself was certainly greatly increased, but the quality was clearly inferior.
–But even so, it was powerful enough to make Casca prepare for combat.
“I am guessing that the spirit was created with magic filled with emotions. It can’t even think straight.”
The Great Raven of the Clouds, the ruler of the Yellow Magic, was both fierce and wise.
In spite of this, it was only raging and neighing.
“Good grief”
The list of flaws was endless.
Richelieu shook her head gently, thinking so.
Immediately afterwards – three silver flashes shot through the air at the exact same time.
“I don’t need to use my magic tool. I don’t even want to use it.”
After a moment’s delay, the raven’s body, created from lightning, shifted as the silver flashes had traced it.
With its core of magical power completely severed, the disembodied spirit disappeared with a cry of agony.
“….sigh.”
The high-pitched shriek ended and was replaced by a small sigh from Richelieu.
As she continued, there was a sound of cracking from within the white cane in her hand.
“The only thing I did was slice through a few hundred pieces of trash……Even such a piece of art is fragile.”(2)
I’ll have to buy a new one.
Muttering this, Richelieu threw away her white cane nonchalantly.
